But sometimes, switching up your commitment to your road-worn pair can help you find something even better—which is why we challenged three long-distance runners to do just that. Ahead of the New York City Marathon, we tasked the running aficionados with taking one of three styles of ASICS sneakers—all in the brand new, Northern Lights-inspired Solar Shower shades—for a spin to see how they compare to their go-to kicks. So much so that I can’t quite understand why it’s always the cheapest thing on the menu, offered alongside some other item, like a salad or sandwich, as if to sweeten the deal. A yogi explains what namaste actually means

Does it translate to thank you? Great job for surviving chair pose? To find out, I called up yogi Jasmine Tarkeshi, co-founder and director of Laughing Lotus. “When I teach a workshop or class, I’ll often ask people if they know what ‘namaste’ means and it usually does lead to some laughter,” Tarkeshi says, acknowledging that the word is said all the time in yoga classes, yet rarely understood.
