Your February energy forecast: Welcome to the era of warp-speed change

February 01, 2019 at 05:24AM by CWC For February, “RockStar Shaman” Alyson Charles sees a lot of transformation happening—fast. Here’s what her cosmic divinations are showing for the month ahead, energetically speaking, as well as the extra-fierce spirit animal to support you all month. Talk about a most powerful start to a new year. Have you ever entered into one quite like this? With this amount of expansive transformation, greater integration, and embodiment of who you truly are and your strength and power? Granted, some of this explosive expansiveness and strength may have come from unexpected occurrences that momentarily rocked you, but if you were able to stay consciously aware and in the light of any shadow reveal or lessons being presented for your growth, then you were able to alchemize—and turn any fear or pain into personal evolution, ascension, and enhanced love. The rate in which we are able to do this most powerful work is now occurring at an astounding pace; similar scenarios before may have taken months or even years for us to see what was occurring and why. But now, we are able to rise, truly go a different way, and make these shifts in mere moments. The rate in which we are able to do this most powerful work is now occurring at an astounding pace; similar scenarios before may have taken months or even years. Why is this? In November’s forecast I talked about how “the true us—the version of us that was always within and after so much

February 01, 2019 at 05:16AM by CWC You count your lucky stars for your squad daily (shout out to the gal pals who will point out you have lipstick on your teeth, every time), but there aren’t many official opportunities (outside of birthdays) to shower them with all the gratitude they deserve. That’s why we teamed up with JUSTIN’S®—creators of insanely delicious chocolate nut butter cups—to pull together a Galentine’s Day guide to help you sweeten someone’s day. Is green juice really the end-all, be-all of wellness?

February 01, 2019 at 05:02AM by CWC [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8csZ9D1IKn0] Ah, green juice. Is there anything more emblematic of the wellness movement? The starring vegetable may change (spinach, kale, and now celery juice), but green juice in general has stood the test of time—unlike Jazzercise and Jane Fonda workout videos. But are green juice benefits for real? It’s a question registered dietitian Tracy Lockwood-Beckerman, RD gets to the bottom of in Well+Good’s latest episode of You Versus Food, a YouTube series devoted to giving the straight facts on popular food and drink trends. (You’ve already subscribed to our channel, right?) In the five-minute episode, Lockwood-Beckerman gives the facts on what to look for in a healthy green juice. “If it tastes too good to be true, it probably is,” she says. (Meaning there’s probably a ton of sugar in there!) The rule of thumb: “If making your own juice, you want a ratio of 2:1 when it comes to the perfect veggie to fruit ratio,” Lockwood-Beckerman says. “Say, two cups of spinach to one cup of berries.” If you’re buying your green juice, keep your eye on the added sugar. She also answers the big Q of whether a green juice works as a meal replacement. In a word, no. “A juice alone isn’t nutritionally considered a balanced meal,” Lockwood-Beckerman says, explaining that while you can reap the benefits of the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients, you’re missing out on fiber. (Oh right, fiber!) And as for the whole celery juice craze? Watch the episode to

Here’s what the AstroTwins say is coming soon for each sign of the zodiac

February 01, 2019 at 04:03AM by CWC Think back to a month ago. You’d probably never heard of “frost quakes.” Or thought that we’d ever run airport security basically on the honors system. Or imagine that there would be two documentaries on the Fyre Festival that people would not only watch, but argue about which one to see first. In other words, don’t sleep on 2019. It’s already been a doozy—so it may be worth revisiting all those annual predictions. You’re going to have to pay close the attention this year. So when one of our editors attended a “celestial salon” at NeueHouse in New York City this week with the AstroTwins, sisters Ophira and Tali Edut, it was a lean-forward moment. Don’t sleep on 2019. You’re going to have to pay close the attention this year. The sought-after celebs in the astrology world (at least one of our editors credits them with being her gateway into discussions of north nodes, moon signs, and more) held forth on what’s coming in the next year—starting with a sun-sign rundown full of humor and straight talk. (Geminis, we love you, really.) Here’s what the AstroTwins had to say was in store for every sign in the zodiac for 2019. Graphics: Well+Good Creative Aries “Last year did you find you were under the radar, behind the scenes? A very intense kind of inner work? This year is all about coming out and all that inner transformation, bringing it out to the world. Trying something new, traveling.

And the temperature at which it’s *too* cold to be working out outside is…

February 01, 2019 at 04:00AM by CWC Working out outside has a long list of perks: First of all, it is completely free. Then you get the added (scenic) benefit of being out in nature, a built-in subtle incline that revs up your run, and the opportunity to sightsee as you sweat versus, say, watching the Food Network or staring at an empty treadmill in front of you. Of course, along with the perks comes one very real factor that can make or break your outdoor workout: the weather. Obviously, having anything falling from the sky means your workout isn’t happening outside of the gym. But the temperature is a whole other story. If you’ve ever gone for a run in the cold, I’m sure you’re familiar with having your lungs hurt. But besides that—which, in case you were wondering, happens because of the dry air hitting your lungs—sometimes it just feels too brutally cold to sweat out there in the elements. Sure, you can pull on your warmest leggings and layer up the workout gear—but I consulted a doc to really see if there’s actually a cutoff point at which you should just not. exercise. outside. “When the temperature falls below zero and if the wind chill is minus 17, it’s best to stay indoors—even if you have warm clothing,” says Robert Segal, MD and co-founder of LabFinder.com. “In these conditions, it only takes 30 minutes for frostbite to form on any exposed skin.” He stresses the importance of checking the wind

Yes, Netflix, I’m still watching—despite feeling nothing but pure sadness afterward

February 01, 2019 at 03:30AM by CWC The “Watch it again” section on Netflix might be the single most dangerous spot to land on the web, at least for me. I’m currently cringing internally at the embarrassing number of minutes I’ve spent there catching up—again, and again—with my old pals Winston Schmidt (New Girl), Elena Gilbert (The Vampire Diaries), and Cristina Yang (Grey’s Anatomy). Sure, my Netflix squad never says anything that I haven’t heard before, but there’s something strangely comforting about passing an hour or five with them and their familiar zingers, love triangles, and once-fashionable #lewks. It’s all pure streaming bliss. That is, until I’ve come to the end—or the death—of the show, and the final credits roll, leaving me in a state of mourning. Then Netflix promptly tries to shove a new binge-able friend in my queue, but I’m simply not ready (leave me to grieve, would you!), and I have no idea what to do next. Should I eat dark chocolate and PTFO? Throw my laptop at the wall? Start a Pinterest board of the most iconic Nick and Schmidt moments? Dance to the Grey’s Anatomy theme song in my underwear? You could say that I’m at a loss of the melodramatic variety. Recently, after I once again fell into a marathon-streaming pit of despair after concluding a spur-of-the-moment rewatch of Stranger Things season one (yep, this post-watch sadness lends itself to movies and single seasons of shows, too), I decided that it was time to get to the
