How I (finally) got myself to stay hydrated, even though I hate drinking water

July 01, 2019 at 06:30PM by CWC As a self-proclaimed water snob, staying hydrated is like a waterlogged version of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” Tap water has a hint of something. Bottled water is a mixed bag. Pretty much the only type of water I will drink is whatever’s handy when I’m absolutely parched, like after a hot yoga flow. Being so plain-water averse (for real, even with a migraine I avoid the stuff) has not exactly set me up for success on the wellness front. “Every cell in your body needs water to function,” Chelsea Amer, MS, RDN says. Hydration addresses a long list of problems, from the inside (like digestion) to the outside (take a sip every time someone says their skin-care secret is drinking water). “Even being a little dehydrated can impact your energy levels during the day,” Amer says. That explains why I often feel extra moody, tired, and achey—basically the human version of a plant I forgot to water. ad_intervals[‘402287_div-gpt-ad-8891272-3’] = setInterval(function () { if (ads_ready) { clearTimeout(ad_intervals[‘402287_div-gpt-ad-8891272-3’]); googletag.cmd.push(function(){googletag.display(‘div-gpt-ad-8891272-3’);}); } }, 100); Amer says the amount of water you need a day varies based on factors like weight, activity level, diet, and even climate, but it’s recommended women shoot for around 11 cups. I was nowhere near that, so I set out to change my ways for a healthier pep in my step. From adding True Lemon Fruit Infusions™ into my hydration routine to stocking up on water-rich foods, here’s what I’m doing to stay hydrated

8 eco-friendly clothing brands to give your wardrobe a totally chic (and sustainable) makeover

July 01, 2019 at 05:00PM by CWC Often when people decide to start living a more eco-conscious life, the first step is ditching plastic straws or investing in reusable totes for the grocery store. Now don’t get me wrong—both of those changes are doing good for the planet, but if you want to make an even bigger impact, it might be time to rethink the way you shop for clothes. Fortunately, eco-friendly clothing brands have come a long way in terms of sustainability and style. It’s no secret that the fashion industry is responsible for vast environmental damage, contributing 10 percent of global carbon emissions. According to Sustain Your Style, it’s the largest polluter in the entire world after the oil industry. Far from eco-friendly, the fashion industry produces untreated toxic wastewater that dumps into rivers and oceans, harming aquatic life and humans alike. It also uses 1.5 trillion liters of water every year, is releasing microfibers into the water that eventually end up in your food. Synthetic fibers take hundreds of years to decompose in landfills. ad_intervals[‘403896_div-gpt-ad-7520022-3’] = setInterval(function () { if (ads_ready) { clearTimeout(ad_intervals[‘403896_div-gpt-ad-7520022-3’]); googletag.cmd.push(function(){googletag.display(‘div-gpt-ad-7520022-3’);}); } }, 100); To ensure your wardrobe isn’t hurting the planet, start shopping sustainably. There’s an ever-growing list of companies that have made it their mission to create eco friendly clothing with responsible materials and sustainable practices throughout the entire process, from using solar-powered factories to compostable shipping materials. These are the best brands to find eco-friendly clothing with fashion-forward design. 8 eco-friendly

Does being in a relationship mean going to every social event on your S.O.’s calendar?

July 01, 2019 at 04:00PM by CWC Star-spangled bikinis aside, the Fourth of July isn’t the most sexy of all holidays (it certainly falls behind the romance-heavy celebrations like Valentine’s Day, New Years Eve, and Christmas). Perhaps part of my stance has to do with the fact that this year, my barbecue plate certainly won’t include a side dish of sex. That’s because I’m opting out of my boyfriend’s big July 4th bash this year—one of the recurring social events he’s been having with his friends for a decade. While at this point, his friends are my friends and my friends are his friends, and we all love each other and all that jazz…I just don’t know if I love them at an amount of 10-hours-at-a-faraway-beach-with-no-exit-plan. So, “learn to when to say no” is something I can successfully check off my to-do list. I get that it appears as though I’m dead in the wrong in my choice to go this route. Because isn’t the golden rule of relationships that old proverb, “If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends”? The argument makes sense to me; in the early days of your relationship, getting “with” your new squeeze’s friends is major. You don’t need to be a walking Cool Girl Who Can Hang trope, but being at least cordial with the people your love loves is a fair expectation if you want to last. That much I can handle, because I love my partner (and also,

Are you in love or is it actually lust? Here’s how to know for sure

July 01, 2019 at 03:00PM by CWC If you find yourself thinking about someone all the freaking time, impulsively tapping your phone every two minutes to see if they texted you (you know, just to check!), does it mean you’re in love? What about if you find that you suddenly hate sleeping without the other person next to you? Is that love? Or is it lust? There’s a scientific reason why it can be difficult to tell the difference between love and lust. Sex releases all sorts of feel-good chemicals in the brain, which can lead to a craving for the other person. It’s easy to confuse the sexual craving for wanting to be around someone because of a strong emotional connection. Here, marriage and family therapist Racine Henry, PhD, and couples and sex therapist Corrin Voeller both explain the difference between the two, and how to figure out exactly what you’re feeling for someone you’ve been dating. Keep reading to see the difference between love and lust. The literal differences “Lust is about a physical or sexual attraction whereas love might encompass lust, but it’s more emotional and is about actually caring for the other person,” Dr. Henry explains. Voeller puts it this way: “You know when you’re sitting next to someone at the movie theater and you’re super aware of their body? You know exactly where their hand is without even looking. And maybe your shoulders touch each other and you feel an electric current run through your body?
