Put those mushy bananas on your counter to good use with this healthy banana bread recipe

March 26, 2019 at 05:00AM by CWC Here’s my one problem with bananas: Even though I love the idea of grabbing a banana as a snack, it’s nearly impossible for me to use up a whole bunch before they go bad. They just sit on my kitchen counter until they’re completely brown (aka not even the slightest bit appetizing). However, I found a delicious solution for this that doesn’t involve regretfully throwing those brown bananas in the trash: turning them into banana bread. Of course, traditional banana breads aren’t the healthiest option because they’re usually made with lots of butter and refined sugar. That’s exactly why recipe developer Jeanine Donofrio of Love & Lemons decided to create a loaf that’s so nutritious you can snack on it whenever you please. It’s completely vegan and is loaded with wholesome ingredients. (Also, it tastes really, really good.)   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Jeanine Donofrio / Love&Lemons (@loveandlemons) on Mar 23, 2019 at 7:26am PDT //www.instagram.com/embed.js “When I bake banana bread, I lose all control. Just knowing that a loaf is sitting on the kitchen counter will make me come back for just one more slice all day long,” Donofrio writes. “I sweeten this loaf with coconut sugar. I also use olive oil instead of vegetable oil or butter, and a combination of whole-wheat pastry flour and almond flour instead of regular flour. Plus, walnuts add a nutty crunch and a boost of omega-3s.” There isn’t a

This new brand pairs CBD with MCT oil to make it more bioavailable to the body

March 26, 2019 at 04:00AM by CWC I don’t think a day goes by in which I don’t receive a sample or get an email about a product containing CBD. It’s for good reason, of course. Cannabidiol—or CBD for short—is a wellness ingredient that has become increasingly coveted for its anti-inflammatory, stress-reducing, and sleep-enhancing benefits. And good news on that front: According to one brand, apparently by pairing CBD together MCT oil, the ingredient becomes even more bioavailable to the body. Feals, the brand-new company (launching today!), is attempting to make CBD understandable by using only two ingredients: CBD and MCT oil. “There are two ingredients in our product: 100 percent organic MCT oil as a carrier oil, and all-natural hemp,” says the brand’s founder Drew Todd, who sources the star ingredient from organic farms in Oregon and Colorado. “Our formulation and process really ties into what we’re doing with the company, the ethos of simple is better, and less is more.” Photo: Feals In the name of simplicity, Feals’ CBD oil comes with a dropper that has easy-to-read hash marks so you know how much you’re getting. You can choose between three different strengths: 600 mg ($75), 1200 mg ($135), and 2400 mg ($245) per bottle respectively. Or, opt for Feals’ CBD Flight, a $20 buy with three vials of different oil dosages so you can figure out which is right for you. So just how do you use it and why the MCT? “MCT has medium triglycerides in

March 26, 2019 at 03:43AM by CWC If dunking chicken nuggets in pools of ketchup is an image that instantly transports you back to your childhood—same. But just because you’ve grown up doesn’t mean you have to leave that simple pleasure in the past. Pour the wine, light the fire, and talk about money—yes, money—for your next date night

March 26, 2019 at 03:00AM by CWC Let’s say you’re enjoying a cozy night in with your partner, eating your favorite takeout and sipping wine. You’re ready to spend the next hour curled up on the couch, talking about…money. (You were with me up until the end of that scenario, right?) For a lot of couples, money isn’t exactly a romantic topic. More than anything, it’s a touchy one, so touchy, in fact, that many never even broach it at all. According to a 2010 survey by American Express, only 43 percent of couples talk about money before getting married. Furthermore, the American Psychological Association’s 2014 Stress in America report found that 31 percent of people cite money as a major source of strain in their relationship. And even if you’re aware that communication is key for ensuring money doesn’t become a thing, knowing how to go about it is a whole other ball game. (You know, in a calm, non-judgmental manner—no matter how much your partner spends on vintage T-shirts.) That’s where money dates come into play. The Fiscal Femme founder Ashley Feinstein Gerstley says scheduling regular money parties, as she calls them, are smart for every partnership because it’s dedicated time to talk shop and deal with finances. Learn below exactly why you’d be wise and savvy to add them to your calendar, and how to make the most of the time. Money dates can make maintaining financial health feel more like a party than a chore—here’s how.

How do I prep for my co-worker’s maternity leave without excluding her before she’s gone?

March 26, 2019 at 02:00AM by CWC Your coworker just told you she’s having a baby, and you’re *so* happy for her—but that doesn’t mean you’re not terrified at the prospect of covering for her while she’s OOO for several weeks. In this week’s Good@Work column, all-around boss Amy Odell—whom you may know as the former editor (AKA HBIC) of Cosmopolitan.com and founding blogger of New York magazine’s The Cut—shares why preparing for your coworker going on maternity leave means advocating for your company to better support women in the workplace. Question: A woman on my team told me in January that she’s expecting a baby in the middle of the summer. That’s a few months away, but my brain immediately started thinking about what projects we have liability on if she leaves and where we can start filling gaps for her absence. How do you plan for someone on your team going on maternity leave without prematurely excluding them from career-progressing projects? Answer: Here’s what you need: money. It’s that simple. Go ask your boss for money. Paper. Moolah. Whatever you call it, not having budget for this very scenario is why you feel anxiety about someone on your team going through the excruciatingly normal thing that is birth. Unfortunately, most workplaces don’t want to invest in women, the majority of whom will become moms who need to return to work. Hence, women don’t receive adequate support from the Company (your bosses) or the Boss (you). But you need money not only to cover several months
