April 20, 2020 at 11:35PM When it comes to cozy loungewear, it doesn’t take much to put a smile on my face. Spending time in nonrestricting clothing like a matching sweatsuit or soft fleece gives me permission to spend the day however I wish. Whether it’s doing a craft project with my daughter, curling up on the couch to read a good book, or lying in bed to do work and online shop, dressing for myself in something matching and soft is what makes the day. This morning, I came across a soft terry striped short sweatsuit set from Old Navy and essentially gasped when I saw it, it’s that adorable. It comes in pink and gray stripes, and you better believe matching short PJs are in my future! 7 Style Moments From The Princess Diaries That Will Forever Be Etched in My Mind
April 20, 2020 at 10:20PM The Princess Diaries is one of the few rom-coms I can watch on repeat without getting bored. It probably has something to do with Mia Thermopolis’s relatable personality and style. It resonated with me, not because I also found out I’m a real-life princess – sadly, still waiting on that – but because I spent most of my adolescent years, like Mia, wearing a uniform to school. (I’ll honestly never be able to look at beige pleated skirts and polo shirts the same.) The hit 2001 Garry Marshall movie, which was Anne Hathaway‘s breakout role, is filled with fun style moments that are worth another look. Let’s start with Mia’s Dr. Martens, shall we? I particularly loved how she is able to pull them off with everything from a plaid skirt to a ballgown. Another early-2000s staple she rocks? A chic backpack, which causes her best friend Lilly to famously say, “This bag . . . you have one of these bags?!” Also, let’s not forget about the time Mia wears a bucket hat to hide her new haircut from her classmates. Ironically, people still wear that hat today! Keep reading to see some of Mia’s best style moments. The Most “Dressed Down” Brides in Movie History – Who Needs a Wedding Gown?
April 20, 2020 at 09:38PM Now that I’m spending a lot of time at home, I figure I should start thinking about that wedding that I’ve got coming up in a year, for which I am the bride. Even though I have eccentric everyday style, my bridal taste is a lot more simple. I’m still not sure what my wedding dress will look like, but I figure why not take inspiration from one of the sources I’m quite familiar with these days: movies. I recently put together a list of casual brides IRL, (I’ll always love that Emily Ratajkowski wore a marigold Zara suit to City Hall to tie the knot, for example), but some iconic moments in film do come straight to mind. I can narrate almost every scene from 1998’s The Parent Trap, including the one where Hallie (who is pretending to be Annie) asks her mother, Elizabeth James, about her wedding to Nick Parker after coming home from summer camp. “Actually, I didn’t even wear a wedding dress,” Elizabeth tells her as she recounts a very small snippet of the wedding we so gratifyingly get to see in the opening scene of the movie aboard the Queen Elizabeth II cruise ship. Elizabeth wore a classic white sheath with spaghetti straps and a slightly fuller skirt for the occasion, but really, it was something one might have packed for a black-tie dinner on a cruise ship in the early ’90s. It wasn’t extravagant, and I always loved how
I’ve Traded in Sweatpants For Bike Shorts, and My Favorite Aerie Pair Is 40% Off Today
April 20, 2020 at 09:15PM I have admittedly bought tons of sweatsuit sets, but it’s already getting too warm in my apartment for the head-to-toe cozy look. My next loungewear investment is definitely bike shorts. Not only is the style on-trend, but it’s also incredibly comfy. I’ve seen stars like Emily Ratajkowski and Kim Kardashian rocking the look, so I was excited to try it out for myself. I’ve tested out a few options now, but my hands-down favorite is the Aerie Real Me Wrap Bike Short ($18, originally $30). The fabric is buttery-soft and the V-shaped waistband is incredibly flattering across my stomach. They come in sizes XXS to XXL – I’m wearing a large, for reference. Besides this pretty “washed brick” shade, they are also offered in black, brown, and sage green. I am now a devoted fan of Aerie’s high-waisted bike shorts. Read on to check out all the styles the site offers, then invest in a few pairs for yourself. They’re all on sale, so take advantage of the discounts. Get to Know the Latest Fragrance from Viktor & Rolf, Flowerbomb Dew
April 20, 2020 at 09:00PM Fragrance has long been about fantasy, and for fashion duo Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren of the Amsterdam-based luxury couture house Viktor & Rolf, that figment is an extension of oneself. “Through fragrance, one can communicate without speaking; it can trigger memories and emotions,” say the synchronized Dutch visionaries (they have a habit of finishing each other’s sentences) over tea and pastries in their Four Seasons Hotel Montreal suite, where we meet to discuss their newest launch, Flowerbomb Dew. Fragrance also carries sartorial-esque powers. “The choice of perfume—sweet, fresh, big, discreet—says something about the wearer, just like a well-chosen outfit.” In 2005, Horsting and Snoeren dropped a bomb that disrupted the fragrance world with both its design and scent. Their iconic Flowerbomb—an unapologetically sweet oriental floral housed in a hand grenade-shaped bottle—marked the very first perfume for their eponymous label. “We perceive design as a laboratory in which to experiment and push boundaries,” reflect the designers. “In doing so, you surprise yourself and create something new and exciting.” Photography courtesy of viktor & rolf Since its successful debut well over a decade ago, the original over-the-top floral, which is laced with jasmine, orange blossom and patchouli, has racked up a cult following, and several quirky and attention-grabbing flankers and limited editions that echo Horsting and Snoeren’s collective boundary-pushing vision have since followed. “Our aim as fashion and fragrance artists has not changed over the years,” say the duo. “We aim to be original and

Ryan Reynolds is Asking All Canadians to Buy This “Boring” Shirt For a Very Good Reason
April 20, 2020 at 08:08PM Are you looking for a way to own an item also owned by Ryan Reynolds and help protect Canada’s frontline workers? Well, you my friends, are in luck. Reynolds has joined forces with grassroots organization, Conquer COVID-19, to promote a line of T-shirts – 100 per cent of the proceeds from each sale will go towards buying PPE equipment for Canada’s frontline workers. The aim, says the Deadpool star, is to “bring back boring as quickly as possible.” Proving his natural ability to sell just about anything, in a video shared to his Instagram Reynolds says, “We’re asking every Canadian to purchase this T-shirt. And as you can see, it’s boring as f***. It’s a black shirt, with white type. Not even a serif font. It’s like we put absolutely no thought into it at all. Plus, it comes in up to one colour.” Reynolds also adds that while the shirt is unremarkable visually, it does possess a hidden power. “This shirt is so unremarkable that it renders its wearer completely invisible,” he says, before sharing that he’s been quarantining with his mother-in-law and that she hasn’t been able to find him in days. According to its website, Conquer COVID-19 is “comprised of physicians, business leaders, entrepreneurs and other volunteers who are working together to ensure frontline workers responsible for the health and wellbeing of Canadians have access to masks, gloves and other supplies that are essential in treating patients and minimizing the spread of the virus.” As
