J.Crew and Madewell Warm Our Hearts With a Donation of 75,000 Face Masks to Healthcare Workers

April 28, 2020 at 02:55PM J.Crew and Madewell have partnered to donate 75,000 single-use medical-grade face masks to Montefiore Health System hospitals in New York, announcing the news on Instagram on April 27, 2020. This comes after Christian Siriano discussed his own impressive donation of 10,000 colorful face masks to those on the frontlines fighting the coronavirus crisis. While many other companies and organizations have pledged to donate money to the cause, J.Crew and Madewell’s whopping donation of medical-grade masks is especially notable. The brands also join a long list of fashion labels shifting gears and listing non-medical cotton face masks on their websites, so shoppers can either add one to their cart, if they happen to be shopping, or receive one for free with any purchase made. Both J.Crew and Madewell have already sold out of their masks, which cost $18 and $20 respectively, but you can check back for restocking information soon. J.Crew’s three-pack of masks comes in the company’s signature stripes and gingham, while Madewell’s come in a chambray fabric and remind us of our feel-good, go-to denim. Even though some of the most popular sites continue to sell out of their non-medical masks, they’re working to reproduce batches as quickly as possible, and most are updated with approximate shipping date information. April 28, 2020 at 03:14PM As people around the country enter their seventh week of self-isolation, FASHION is reaching out to some of our favourite Canadians to get a peek into how they’re living their lives in lockdown (remember: #StayHomeSaveLives). Each week, keep an eye out for new self-isolation diaries from actors, designers, athletes and artists who are riding this uncertain time out with us. Sarah Nurse, ice hockey player and Olympic medalist Whenever something major happens in the world on a macro level, it hits home differently for every person. For me, the pandemic turned my world upside down on March 7th. I was in Arizona when we got the news that our Women’s World Hockey Championship was going to be cancelled. We were devastated, we had prepared and worked so hard on the ice, but we had also been working tirelessly off the ice. Our professional hockey league folded 12 months ago, leaving us with nowhere to play. So 200 of the best female hockey players in the world came together as the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association (PWHPA), where we are fighting for equality and to create a professional hockey league for future generations of females to dream of playing in. Where we get paid a liveable wage, have more media exposure and have the resources and infrastructure in place to be truly professional (much like the WNBA and the NHL). The World Championship was going to be on home soil in Halifax, NS and we were
