This Is Why Your Skin Is Breaking Out Right Now and Here’s What to Do About It

April 25, 2020 at 06:30AM Since I have found myself with some spare time on my hands, it’s safe to say that I have been spending more time than one probably should scrolling through social media. After a week or so into nationwide social distancing, I started to notice a common topic of conversation taking place across all of my social networks: Since staying at home, people’s skin is starting to seriously freak out, and nobody really knows what to do about it.  And actually, for the first time in months, mine has too. Despite the fact that my skin had been behaving itself for months and looked the best it had done for years, the minute I started working from home and only leaving the house for an hour a day, my chin developed what can only be described as a mountain range of cystic spots. So what is going on? Why are we all breaking out like it’s no body’s business? And what can we do about it? It turns out, there’s a very simple explanation for it all. Keep scrolling to discover the four most-likely reasons your skin isn’t behaving itself right now. There’s no doubt that we’re all feeling a little bit more stressed than normal right now. From health to work, we’re all stressing about something, even if we’re not physically showing it. And unfortunately, stress has a lot to do with the condition of our skin. Get ready to stick your science cap on. Pamela Marshall,

You Still Need to Wear SPF Right Now, These 14 Are the Best for Oily Skin

April 25, 2020 at 06:30AM As someone (and a beauty editor at that) that has naturally shiny, often greasy-looking skin, it’s fair to say that I have a very turbulent relationship with SPF. I know that I need to wear it everyday, and I do, but finding a formula that works for me has been seriously tough. You see the thing is, the majority of sun cream leaves a white, greasy sheen on the skin, even long after they have been applied, which isn’t a good look for the oily-skinned amongst us. In fact, it’s this shiny finish that puts so many of us off wearing SPF at all. During a recent conversation with a close group of friends, the topic of daily SPF application cropped up. “SPF just ruins my makeup, but since we’re not going out right now I’m taking a break from it,” one said. It was at this point that I realised, actually, most people really don’t get the importance of SPF at all. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but rain or shine, indoors or outdoors, you should be wearing SPF every single day, even if your skin is oily. Not convinced? Keep scrolling for everything you need to know. The sun produces both UVA and UVB rays, both of which can be damaging in their own ways. The way that I like to remember which one is which is that UVA rays are the Ageing rays and UVB rays are the Burning rays.

These 5 Colours Are The Key To An Expensive-Looking Summer Wardrobe

April 25, 2020 at 06:06AM Right now, London Spring/Summer 2020 fashion week—which took place last September—probably feels like a very, very distant memory. It was back before the term ‘social distancing’ was used in our daily vernacular, and the need to strategically plan a once-a-day walk was an absolute necessity. When the thought of crowded rooms filled with editors and influencers seemed completely normal, and hugs and handshakes were just a regular friendly greeting.  However, despite the fact those runways feel a world away, many of their lessons are more relevant today than ever. From colours predictions to clothing trends, September’s collections acted as a crystal ball, enabling us to understand what would be most in-demand over the next few months.  In terms of colour, the runways were filled with a mixture of calming sky blues and shades of shocking pink (you can thank JW Anderson for the former and Jacquemus for the latter). Of course, as you’d expect with any summer runway, crisp white and sandy beige were also heavily prevalent, seen across voluminous dresses, linen shirts and tailored trousers.  While less popular on the runway, lime green has also proven itself to be a contender for shade of the season, as several members of the fashion set have recently been seen sporting the summery hue. So whether you’re looking to update your existing colour palette, or simply feel the need to be in the know, keep scrolling for five shades you’re about to see everywhere this summer.  You can thank Simon Porte Jacquemus

Trust Me—No-One Will Believe These 5 Things Are From H&M

April 25, 2020 at 06:00AM Teams around the world are now using Slack channels and Zoom meetings to keep things ticking, and if you looked in our Who What Wear UK Slack channel, you’d see that 50% of it is full of links to products or brands that we’ve discovered and love. This week, the links being sent around the most were all from H&M, as we’ve spotted lots of amazing pieces that truly defy their price tags. I personally love the cloud-esque minidress that’s £35 and has a real Scandi feel and a crinkled-fabric wrap blouse that comes in a beautiful beige and lime green. The one thing all of these items have in common is their throw-on appeal. From the dresses to the co-ords, these are pieces you can feel comfortable wearing at home but still make you feel more put-together. Without further ado, scrolling to see the five H&M items that no one will believe you found in H&M.  This mini A-Line dress looks like a cloud—pair with chunky sandals or ankle boots to toughen it up.  Desmond and Dempsey is one of our favourite pyjama brands and has just launched a timely collaboration with H&M. This shirt-and-shorts set is our favourite of the lot.  Co-ords are one of the easiest items to throw on in the morning, and we love this striped sailor-style knitted set. When it comes to dresses this year, it’s all about comfy oversize smock dresses, and this H&M silk-blend dress ticks lots of boxes.
