Gigi Hadid Wore This Understated Outfit For Her 25th Birthday, and We Love Her For It

April 24, 2020 at 09:24PM Gigi Hadid kept it real during her birthday this year. The supermodel, who just turned 25, celebrated her big day in a superunderstated outfit. Gigi has been self-isolating with her family at their farm in Pennsylvania, and for the joyous occasion, Bella Hadid posted a series of images on Instagram calling Gigi her “best friend, leader, teacher, and partner in crime.” While in the past Gigi has gone all out for her birthdays (remember her denim party look last year or the glimmering golden Versace number she wore for her 23rd?), she kept things more mellow while being at home. For her 25th, Gigi wore an outfit that reminded us of Steve Jobs in the best way possible. She wore a simple black turtleneck with a matching cardigan on top. She finished her birthday look with high-waisted mom jeans, a thin black belt, and ankle boots. Gigi was all smiles with Bella as they held up balloons that said “25.” Her family and best friend Leah McCartney, who has also been staying with her, even made her a bagel-shaped birthday cake, which looked absolutely unreal. Talk about cake goals! Keep reading to get a closer look at Gigi’s understated outfit from all angles. April 24, 2020 at 09:14PM BY ERIN REIMEL AND TAYLOR DAVIS SVETIKDGETTY IMAGES If you’re one of the fifty to seventy million Americans who struggles to fall (and stay) asleep, chances are you’ve heard of melatonin, the hormone that regulates your sleep and wake cycle. But melatonin has become the latest trendy skincare ingredient that claims to help repair and restore your skin while combating signs of stress and pollution. (Have we been sleeping on this restorative powerhouse all along?) To answer all our questions about melatonin, like how it helps your skin and how you should be using it, we asked Austin-based dermatologist Ted Lain, MD and New York City–based dermatologists Dendy Engelman, MD and Dennis Gross, MD to break down al the important information about the buzzy hormone. Below, everything you need to know about adding melatonin to your skincare routine and a few product recommendations to help you get started. What is melatonin? More than just a pill you pop when you can’t stop tossing and turning, the hormone melatonin is a key element of your body’s sleep and wake cycle. When it starts to get dark outside, the brain— signaled by the change in light—releases melatonin, triggering the urge to sleep. (That’s why you begin to feel tired at around the same time each day.) I’m Only Wearing Dresses This Week, and It’s Making Me Happy

April 24, 2020 at 07:50PM After reading about people opting to wear comfortable and stylish dresses while they work from home as a way to change up the routine of reaching for cute loungewear, I became intrigued. Would that feel weird or liberating? Wearing a dress while staying indoors may seem unnecessary, but it doesn’t have to feel fussy or silly. If you find dresses that are just as comfortable as wearing matching sweats or soft t-shirts I’d argue that it’s a much easier way to get dressed. Old Navy has hundreds of stylish dresses right now – many of which are of the throw-on-and-go variety – so we went ahead and rounded up some easy pieces. Though I’ll always be a loungewear girl at heart, I switched things up this week and wore as many dresses as I could. It’s been easier than ever to get dressed in the morning and completely changing my mood! I caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror the other day and ended up putting on lipstick just for the heck of it. If you’re shopping for a few new pieces, I’ve highlighted my favorites. My Current Favorite Dresses Are All Under $50, But You’d Never Know It

April 24, 2020 at 07:11PM Ask anyone who sees me on a regular basis, and they’ll tell you I almost exclusively wear dresses when the weather allows it. The honest reason is that they’re the easiest item to throw on while still looking put-together. I also find dresses to be one of the most comfortable options when the weather takes a turn for the hot and sticky, especially in comparison to my other go-to: denim. Not that you necessarily needed further convincing, but I’m definitely not the only one on the daily dress-wearing train. Besides loungewear, I almost exclusively scroll through dress outfits on my Instagram feed. Currently, I’ve got my eyes on Niké Ojekunle, a Nigerian-born and L.A.-based fashion and skincare blogger who tells me her polished style is loosely inspired by Old Hollywood. She also tells me that some of my recent favorite looks from her feed are shoppable at Walmart, which means they’re surprisingly affordable, not that you’d ever be able to tell. Shop her two favorite current looks below (including some excellent sandals), as well as seven more under-$50 dress picks. Ojekunle and I are on the same page when it comes to warm weather style. “I love wearing dresses year round but especially during spring and summer because it allows for easy breeziness,” she tells me. Laugh at the cliché if you must, but it’s so true. I never spend more than 15 minutes on my dress outfits, and I always get the most compliments on them. Her first choice is a short-sleeve eyelet option that has a

Should You Still Be Wearing SPF Now That You’re at Home?

April 24, 2020 at 07:45PM With stay at home restrictions in place for at least another month in Canada, we continue to adapt to our new ‘normal’ and the challenges and questions it brings with it. Since all non-essential businesses have been temporarily shuttered to help stem the spread of the pandemic, we’ve been forced to take many a beauty matter into our hands: from caring for and colouring our hair, to removing gel manicures and acing the application of press-on nails, taming our brows and having virtual beauty consultations to answer our seemingly endless array of questions. One of the most common questions we’ve been hearing from friends and colleagues is whether or not there’s a need for wearing SPF now that we’re at home most (/all) of the time. We all know SPF is a non-negotiable in a daily routine that involves being outdoors. But what happens when we’re only moving from our bedrooms to our work spaces in a day? In short, you still need to wear your SPF like you would have before social distancing measures began, says Holly Thaggard, the founder of cult suncare brand Supergoop. “UVA rays are present throughout the year at the same intensity, even when we experience cloudy, springtime weather, and the damage they cause is not always immediately visible,” says Thaggard, adding that SPF application is particularly important for those “working near a window or somewhere in your [space] with natural light.” She adds, “UVA ray damage accelerates most of
