April 23, 2020 at 07:00AM Despite Marie Kondo helping us to spark joy, we still have a lot of stuff in our wardrobes—and stuff we rarely wear. In Lauren Bravo’s book How to Break Up With Fast Fashion, she reveals that last year alone the UK spent an estimated £2.7 billion on clothes that only got worn once. That’s quite the sobering statistic. Adding to this, there’s nothing quite like being stuck at home for over a month with literally nowhere to go to make you realise just how many clothes you have. For those of us who love fashion, we know that it can, at times, make you feel overwhelming guilt and shame about the textile bounty you’ve amassed. There’s no denying that this is a first-world problem. But instead of feeling bad, why not think about how you can make the stuff you actually love last longer? I spoke to Bravo on her best tips for looking after your clothes the right way. Not only will this mean you’ll shop less (say hello to a healthier budget), but you’ll also be chucking away less stuff which in turn will mean you’re helping the environment, as it won’t end up in the carbon emission–producing landfill. Keep scrolling to see her brilliant tips… “However much money you spend on your clothes, you should always be able to wash them and they should be able last,” says Lauren. “It shouldn’t be the case that only expensive clothes last as that’s not feasible for

Rosie HW’s Makeup Artist Shares a 5-Step Look That’s Zoom Meeting–Approved
April 23, 2020 at 06:30AM Simple yet effective. Welcome to Five or Fewer, a new Who What Wear series that brings you the best A-list beauty looks in five (or fewer!) easy-to-follow steps. To break down each hair or makeup look, we invite the industry’s top beauty talent—such as Margot Robbie’s hairstylist— to demonstrate an easy how-to on themselves or our US beauty editors, Erin Jahns and Courtney Higgs. Next up, celebrity makeup artist Nikki Wolff demonstrates a simple, five-step makeup tutorial that looks great for Zoom or FaceTime video conferencing. She originally gave the step-by-step via an Instagram takeover, but luckily we saved all the footage and took detailed notes in case you missed it. Keep scrolling for the gorgeous play-by-play and to shop the exact products Wolff uses to create the look. Wolff explains that since she started the tutorial with her foundation already applied, the first step is reaching for a creamy eye shadow stick (or even a kohl pencil—whatever you have on hand) that promises long, budge-proof wear. (Because no one wants migrating eye makeup mid-meeting, right?) After applying your favourite foundation as you normally would, Wolff says to take your shadow stick (she likes the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Heather Steel—a deep grey-purple), and “sketch” it all along the outer part of the eye and into the lash line. Then, blend it out with a brush like Fenty Beauty’s Precision Blending Eyeshadow Brush 230 (£20). “Blend using soft, small strokes to achieve that subtle smokiness in the outer corners of
If You’re Suffering From “Tech Neck,” These Firming Products Will Help
April 23, 2020 at 06:30AM We’re not sure about you, but working from home is really starting to take its toll on our bodies. As grateful as we are to have the luxury of being able to continue to work from the comfort of our homes, there’s no doubt that the physical aspect of it can have its drawbacks. Where daily commutes, coffee runs and lunch breaks once kept us moving and active, office chairs, desk setups and large computer screens helped support our posture and remove the risks of aches and pains. Fast-forward to today and the majority of us are hunched over laptops, slumped on the sofa or cramped on a chair under some sort of makeshift desk. And it would seem that these working-from-home office environments are already starting to have a negative impact. From backaches to neck pain, people far and wide are starting to complain of the ways that their bodies are reacting to the change in their workspace. A common issue that we have seen crop up time and time again is that of “tech neck”—the feeling of pressure/tension in the neck and back and the appearance of lines, jowls and creases in the skin as a result of constantly looking down at technology, often at a 45-degree angle. If you can relate to this issue or want to get one step ahead, here’s all there is to know and a roundup of the very best neck-firming products around. The recently coined term “tech neck” refers
6 Colourful Pairings That Will See You Through Summer
April 23, 2020 at 06:05AM Considering I went to a school where the uniform was vibrant purple and gold, I’d like to think I have quite a lot of experience when it comes to wearing a bold colour. Though the truth is more often than not, you’d likely find me in a combination of black, white, grey or denim, particularly in the colder months. With summer approaching, I’m making it my priority to start wearing those neglected pieces in my wardrobe again, that not only provide a pop of bright colour but also manage to act mood-boosting colour therapy. You don’t have to look too far to find some colourful inspiration online, as many members of the fashion set have already started transitioning their wardrobes for the summer months creating a rainbow of cheerful hues across our feeds. Whether it be Monikh in a combination of striking orange and soothing cream or Ellie of Slip Into Style in a bright pink and aqua look, influencers everywhere are piecing together unexpected colour combinations that we can’t wait to copy. So while old wives tales may state that blue and green should never be worn together, we think this summer it’s all about pairing whatever individual colour combination you feel is right. Keep scrolling below for six ideas on summer colour pairings to get you started. Style Notes: There are few things that denote summer quite like the colour orange. Whether it reminds you of delicious summer fruits or picturesque sunsets, the
40 Under-£100 Homeware Buys From H&M, Zara and More
April 23, 2020 at 06:00AM One of the things that I keep finding myself doing while in quarantine this month is falling into interior decorating holes. I’ve spent hours finding new homeware brands and cool interior design Instagram accounts for inspiration. I’ve also been getting lost on Pinterest. This is partly down to nosiness and a desire to see how other people are using their spaces, but also because I have an impulse to show more love to my home while spending so much time indoors. I’ve cleaned more than ever before and spent a whole weekend lovingly painting one door. Like many of us, I’m being careful with my spending, so the last thing I’d want to do in this period is make people feel like they need to spend more or feel pressured to make home improvements. As someone who has recently moved into a house, I know just how expensive interiors can be, and so I want to share some of the things I’ve found along the way. Ever since I got my moving date back in January, I’ve been on the lookout for home accessories with some personality that are under £100. My favourite places to shop have been H&M Home, John Lewis, Arket and Zara Home, as they are sites I regularly browse for ideas and escapism. Items that have stood out to me recently are Arket’s zebra blanket, H&M’s oversized ceramic vases, and Cox and Cox’s padded floor cushions. Monikh’s vase is from Zara
The 10 Sandal Styles We’re Spotting on Feeds This April
April 23, 2020 at 06:00AM From chunky hikers and minimalist slides, to lace-up kitten heels and sleek slip-ons, it might not be summer, but Instagram has been positively fawning over sandals this April. Of course, it helps that temperatures are rising to an unseasonable 23 degrees, but the early interest in open-toe shoes may also be due to our new house-bound contexts and a craving for more versatile styles. With loungewear seeing a surge in popularity, people seem to be looking for comfy sandals that not only can be worn around the house and to the shop, but also offer that design kudos that many still crave. Just look at The Row’s leather flip-flops, the ultimate fusion of luxe materials and low-key silhouette or Arizona Loves’ hiking sandals with a twist. Naturally, there is the odd heel (it’s all about the mid-height and wrap-around detailing), which people are using to give themselves a little boost for that #dressupfriday ensemble. So without further ado, I present the sandals we keep seeing on feeds right now. Summer will be here soon—we promise! Ashley Graham Has Just the Outfit For “Suburbia Fashion Week” – and No, It’s Not Pajamas
April 23, 2020 at 03:25AM View this post on Instagram A post shared by A S H L E Y G R A H A M (@ashleygraham) on Apr 22, 2020 at 10:09am PDT Ashley Graham is coining the term “Suburbia Fashion Week,” and she has a runway-ready outfit to submit: her striped set from Marina Rinaldi. The model (and new mom!) posted a photo on Wednesday of her black satin trousers and button-down top. I mustered up the motivation to actually change out of my well-worn sweatshirt today and put on jeans, so I understand the desire to get dressed up during this stay-at-home period. It’s refreshing! Marina Rinaldi is a go-to brand for Ashley; she wore the designer before giving birth to her son Isaac, too. Ashley elevated her set even further by adding a pair of sunglasses and a pulled-back bun. I’m stealing that trick the next time I head to the grocery store – whether or not I’m wearing a chic outfit. Continue Reading… Author Karenna Meredith | Popsugar Selected by CWC
