Rue’s Euphoria Hoodie Is Being Auctioned For Over $3,000 – and the Money Goes to NY Hospitals

April 22, 2020 at 11:42PM Ever wonder what happened to Rue’s iconic purple hoodie from Euphoria? How about the 33-pound May Queen flower gown from Midsommar? Well, wonder no more, because A24 is pulling the pieces from storage for a good cause. On April 22, the movie studio began putting popular props and costumes from its 2019 films and TV shows up for auction. The proceeds will go to several different charities benefitting novel coronavirus (COVID-19) relief, including Queens Community House, the FDNY Foundation, Food Bank For New York City, and NYC Health and Hospitals. Since these pieces are one-of-a-kind, the bidding has already risen far beyond what my bank account can stomach, but I’m excited for someone else to own these fashion pieces – appreciate each of the 10,000 silk flowers sewn to the Florence Pugh’s Midsommar gown. Ahead, I’ve rounded up the three fashion items I’m most excited to see up for auction. Let the bids begin! Continue Reading… Author Karenna Meredith | Popsugar Selected by CWC

Nicole Richie and More of Revolve’s Designers on How Their WFH Style Became a Form of Self-Care

April 22, 2020 at 10:10PM As a brand, Revolve has launched the Around Our Heroes initiative to help in a big way with the mask shortage our country is facing during the coronavirus pandemic. This isn’t just a corporate endeavor, it’s also a way for Revolve to partner with its biggest in-house fashion designers, like Nicole Richie of House of Harlow 1960, Camila Coelho, and Pia Baroncini of LPA, to help support the cause. Revolve has a goal of procuring one million masks for those on the front lines in hospitals and healthcare facilities, this coming after Christian Siriano, Ralph Lauren, and Brandon Maxwell announced their own tremendous contributions and pledges to donate to coronavirus relief funds. Revolve’s brand partners, like House of Harlow, Camila Coelho Collection, and LPA, will be responsible for donating an additional 50,000 masks collectively, and they spoke to POPSUGAR about how they’re promoting good vibes within their own homes and keeping morale high for their teams as they all work from home and adjust to this new way of life. Clearly, fashion inspiration is important to all of them – Nicole, Camila, and Pia all continue to dress up for themselves as a powerful way to start the day and set the tone for success. Scroll for our conversation, as we touch on their personal routines and their outlook on the fashion industry as a whole. How to Take an At-Home Mirror Selfie That Actually Looks Good

April 22, 2020 at 10:00PM Mirror selfies are so important these days that I actually consider how the clothes I’m buying will look on my Instagram feed. Call me crazy, but some outfits, or pieces in particular, just warrant a certain pose – like that crouch-down-and-show-off-your-shoes move, for example. Come on, you’ve totally invested in a minidress or a blazer knowing what you’d wear it with and exactly how the combination would all photograph together. We’re big fans of the mirror selfie at POPSUGAR because it offers complete control over everything, from the caption and the pose to the lighting and the angle, although we definitely have recommendations for these crucial elements. Here’s How Canadian Fashion Brands Are Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day

April 22, 2020 at 09:46PM Today marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, and fashion brands across the world are celebrating with the announcement of various initiatives and collections to help make fashion more earth-friendly. Here’s how some of your favourite Canadian fashion brands are marking Earth Day 2020: Hilary MacMillan Photograph courtesy of Hilary MacMillan Toronto designer Hilary MacMillan has announced the launch of a new sustainable basics collection today. The first item in the collection is the brand’s best-selling blouse, which has been reimagined in 100 per cent cupro, a biodegradable, cruelty-free silk alternative. It is available in sizes XS-4X and in five colours, each of which was achieved by using scrap onion skins, rice, bamboo, grapes and other natural ingredients. Going one step further, the fabric manufacturer used by MacMillan for the blouses received a 99.8 per cent zero-emissions rating last year, thanks to its use of fibre waste to fuel power generation. In a release, the designer said, “Since starting the Hilary MacMillan label, I’ve been consciously aware of our environmental impact and carbon footprint. As we evolved into a cruelty-free brand, it was a natural choice to further explore what it means to be a brand participating in eco-conscious and sustainable practices and I’m proud to say this collection is the beginning of a very important journey for [us].” Get yours here. Whitney Port Is Dressing Up Like Classic Movie Characters on Instagram – Can We Join?

April 22, 2020 at 09:03PM Whitney Port is one of the latest celebrities to create a fun fashion Instagram challenge while staying at home. While a lot of us have been lounging at home in sweats and watching movies, Whitney came up with an idea that got her creative juices flowing and made use out of her wardrobe. (Looks like she’s not the only one who is sick of wearing sweats.) In the challenge, she teamed up with her stylists Kara and Brit Elkin to dress up as characters from classic movies. She asked fans to comment on who they think she is and reveals the correct answer in her IGS later in the day. Another thing we love about the challenge? The outfits she wears will include small fashion brands that are struggling at the moment due to the coronavirus pandemic. Whitney started off the challenge easy by posting a picture of herself dressed up as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. She wore a blue gingham Smythe dress, a wicker basket bag by Storets, and red flats by AGL shoes. Read on to see all of the creative outfits she came up with and see if you can guess what movie character she dressed up as.
