May 06, 2020 at 11:32AM This healthy tuna casserole is gluten-free, dairy-free, and high in protein! It’s a perfect family and kid-friendly dinner for a busy weeknight. This casserole is made from pantry staples and is a great make-ahead dinner option. I feel like we’re in a weird time warp right now. Everything has slowed way down and I feel like the kids are getting a small taste of what life was like when I was a kiddo. They play outside until it gets too hot, we take long walks and bike rides, we crash madre’s pool, watch nostalgic movies, camp in a tent on the weekends, and they FaceTime their friends for an insane amount of time. (Listening to P talk to her BFF is the cutest ever. They play Candyland or Pretty Pretty Princess and show each other pretty much every single toy they own.) Vintage meals are back, too, thanks to our pantry haul and freezer staples we’ve had on hand. I don’t think I’ve had tuna casserole since I was maybe 10 years old (madre used to make an awesome one, I tell ya), and since we had all of the ingredients, I decided to go for it. The girls love pretty much anything that consists of cheese and pasta noodles, and this cheesy chicken and rice casseroles is one of their favorite meals. (<— I never would have expected that one.) It’s so easy to make, too! Simply sauté the mushrooms, onions and garlic, make

Prince Harry Apparently Gave Meghan This $20K Diamond Bracelet on Their Wedding Night
May 06, 2020 at 11:00AM Our brains are still reeling from all the amazing looks Meghan Markle wore for her wedding to Prince Harry. For her first royal engagement as the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan took a styling cue from her sister-in-law Kate Middleton by wearing one of Kate’s go-to brands, Goat. While Meghan looked stunning in her peachy-pink dress and bespoke Philip Treacy hat, it was what was on her wrist that caught everyone’s attention. The former actress wore a delicate diamond tennis bracelet that looks awfully similar to one Cartier sells for a cool $20,000. The stunning bracelet was reportedly gifted to Meghan by Prince Harry on their wedding night. The prince could’ve been continuing a sweet tradition honoring his late mother, Princess Diana, since she received an aquamarine ring on her own wedding night and also owned a similar diamond tennis bracelet. (Meghan actually wore the gorgeous aquamarine ring during her reception!) Keep reading to see all angles of Meghan’s beautiful bracelet. This Is How to Do an Expert-Approved Manicure at Home
May 06, 2020 at 10:30AM I’m not sure about you, but my nails are not in a good way right now. My hands are dry, my cuticles are rock hard, and the nail snags are out of control. All in all, it’s safe to say they need some real help. If floods of social media posts are anything to go by, it would seem that I am not alone in my nail conundrum. Because it doesn’t look like salon visits will be an option for at least a little while, it’s time to take matters into our own hands (pun totally intended). To guide you through every single step, I’ve enlisted the help of celebrity manicurist Jenni Draper to reveal exactly how to carry out a salon-esque manicure on yourself at home. You can thank me later. When it comes to doing our own nails, this is the part that most of us decide to skip. It’s not particularly glam, it can be a little uncomfortable, and, all in all, it’s just a bit annoying. Unfortunately, though, prepping your nails before you get painting is what really sets a good mani apart from the rest. After you’ve removed any old polish with remover (ideally non-acetone to prevent drying), start off by addressing your cuticles. “Apply some cuticle cream and massage it in. Using a cuticle pusher, start gently pushing them back, one by one,” advises Draper. And although it might be tempting, she also warns that trimming your cuticles at home should be avoided.
Notes On The Journey of Motherhood with Tastemaker Paige Appel
May 06, 2020 at 10:14AM Mother’s Day is not a one-size-fits-all holiday. We begin celebrating as children and that experience can be as varied as the women we’re celebrating. Through out our lives, with the wild variety of family dynamics, births and deaths, pursuits of becoming mothers and fathers ourselves, and the experience of being the mother celebrated, Mother’s Day can surely take on many forms. Part of our TCM community, tastemaker and shop owner, Paige Appel opened up to share her fertility and pregnancy journey over the last two years. What a difficult holiday this can be for the large population of women with complicated fertility journeys. We thought Appel would make a great profile as we approach this unique Mother’s Day at home. Both her ‘miracle baby’, Cricket who is something for the world to behold and her precious teen, Rem give Paige the street cred to speak to mothering while in quarantine and embracing the journey of motherhood wherever it may find you… The Chalkboard: Paige, you were really open about your fertility struggles before cricket was born. Talk to us about that season: Paige Appel: What a season that was! I will never forget the struggle or the pain that maximized itself for those three years. The ignorance about my body’s state of the union, the vulnerability to lean into the process of intervention, the desire that manifested into surrender… it was quite a magnificent storm. After two miscarriages I went down the road of Western
Mediterranean Orzo Salad with Feta
May 06, 2020 at 10:00AM This simple and fresh Mediterranean Orzo Salad with Feta is perfect for a summer potluck or quick weekday lunch. Packed full of veggies and flavor this vegetarian dish is easily meal-prepped and will last all week. One of the things I didn’t realize when we moved from San Francisco to Marin was how much better the weather would be. I’ve talked about it here before but one of the biggest misconceptions about San Francisco is that it gets typical “California” weather. In fact, San Francisco rarely gets above 70 degrees and the summers tend to be the coldest time of the year. While I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Karl the Fog and genuinely believe San Francisco is the greatest city in the world (many will disagree with me on this and I understand why!), I’m not mad about how beautiful it is here in Marin. After a moderately rainy winter, the sun has officially come out here and we’re starting to nest into our new humble abode. For the first time we have a backyard, with a grill! We truly relish in the idea that we can sit outside and eat dinner. I hope […] The post Mediterranean Orzo Salad with Feta appeared first on The Healthy Maven. I’ve Spent Hours Hunting Down the Best Sustainable Buys for Every Budget
May 06, 2020 at 07:00AM Sustainability is on the minds of everyone in fashion right now. For most of us, our consideration of where and how our clothes are made has only been heightened by the COVID-19 pandemic. In March, the fashion industry was completely turned on its head. Last month, it was announced that London Fashion Week won’t be taking place in September with both men’s and women’s shows taking place digitally in June, which would usually be men’s fashion week. And just last week, Saint Laurent announced that it will no longer be taking part in the Paris Fashion Week schedule preferring to dictate its own show timetable. Without the carbon footprint of a physical fashion week, this move to a more sustainable fashion industry is one I hope will continue. However, I have spent a lot of time researching and writing about sustainable fashion brands, and I know that while everyone wants to shop sustainably, the price can be a deterrent. For that reason, I’ve created a shopping list of pieces that includes more affordable items. I should point out that this means I’ve included a couple of pieces from conscious collections on the high street, too. This is because while I recognise that it’s vital we all start shopping less and buying smarter, not everyone can afford the super-high prices that often come with the sustainable fashion brands. My highlights include a denim jacket from People Tree, vintage jewellery from London-based Susan Caplan (the necklace is only £25!), plus a tie-dye shirt
We’re Beauty Editors, and These Are the Products We Actually Buy
May 06, 2020 at 06:30AM As a beauty editor, I receive a lot of beauty products for free. It’s kind of part of the job. In order to keep up with the constantly growing market, it’s really important to have as much experience with a large variety of products as possible. While we beauty editors are by no means skin, makeup or hair experts, we are product experts. And that’s our job. In order to offer up the best advice on foundation, moisturiser or even hair dye, really we need to have tried the product out for ourselves. Because at the end of the day, if it’s a total flop, we’re not going to want to recommend it. It makes sense then that our beauty routines are rarely constant. Most days require trying something new and swapping one product out for another. And although it is great to get to experience so much, it makes it hard when you come across one product you really, really love. So although there’s no doubt that we have an abundance of new products at our finger tips, what we don’t have is a free product hotline that allows us to reorder products we really love without having to, you know, actually part with some money. And in a weird way, for a beauty editors to actually buy a product, I believe said editor has to love something more than a non–beauty editor might. Why buy a new serum when you have another five waiting on the shelf? Because
How To Cut Your Own Hair at Home According to a Hollywood Hair Stylist
May 06, 2020 at 06:30AM Before we get into this, we want to make one thing very clear: If you can avoid cutting your hair during this time, please do. It really doesn’t matter how many times you have seen your hairdresser do it, in normal circumstances, giving yourself an at-home haircut is never a good idea. However, the times we find ourselves in are far from normal circumstances, and while we by no means advocate at-home chops, we also understand that sometimes the split ends need to go. So, in order to make sure the damage inflicted to your precious strands through at-home cuts is kept to an absolute minimum, we have enlisted the help of one of the world’s top hair stylists to show how it’s done. Known for cutting the likes of Hailey Bieber, Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner and basically the entire of the Kardashian clan’s lengths as well as founding cult haircare brand Ouai, it’s safe to say Jen Atkin knows a thing or two about hair. So, when we found out that she had recently talked Bella Hadid through an at-home fringe cut over video chat and subsequently shared her at-home chop tutorial on her Instagram, we knew she was the girl for the job. To help compile the ultimate at-home haircut guide, we reached out to Atkin for all of her top tips. “There are a number of different risks with cutting your own hair like uneven ends, cutting too short or some kind of other nightmare. This is
Trust Monikh—the 3 Summer Buys Our Girl Is Loving This Week
May 06, 2020 at 06:28AM There are hundreds of thousands of influencers in the social ether, but only a handful who we religiously stalk in order to virtually steal the clothes off their backs. Our primary target is Monikh—the London-based styling and shopping guru who seeks out the very coolest buys from every corner of the retail world. From her inspiring tips on re-wearing her well-chosen investment items to hunting down the coolest high-street pieces, her Instagram feed @monikh and website are a veritable hotbed of things you’re going to want to purchase immediately (and will never regret). Each week, Monikh will share her new picks exclusively for you… With the first May bank holiday just around the corner, I have summer on the brain, and so my shopping picks all this week have a real summer feeling. From a gingham top and matching scrunchie set to the perfect little white dress, keep scrolling for my three summer buys. With the bank holiday just ’round the corner, I’m getting ready for a long weekend of food and wine. Making this weekend different than any other by going all out with the table décor. I’m obsessed with this brand. The mother-daughter duo only opens its online shops on Wednesday evening, and everything is made to order. You can even send them your measurements so it fits you exactly—that’s a sustainable shopping model I love. Venroy is one of my favourite fashion secrets. Pioneered by Farfetch, which is helping to support small boutique stores all
