A New Book About Harry and Meghan Promises to Go Beyond the Headlines

May 04, 2020 at 04:54PM There’s been so much written about Harry and Meghan over the past few years, it can feel as if we know everything there is to know about the royal couple. But of course, the salacious headlines and the real story are two very different things. This summer, two veteran royal reporters are coming together to publish a book about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, titled FINDING FREEDOM: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, that promises a true insider look at the royals’ lives. According to the press release from HarperCollins Publishers, which will be releasing the book in August 2020, Finding Freedom “goes beyond the headlines to reveal unknown details of Harry and Meghan’s life together, dispelling the many rumours and misconceptions that plague the couple on both sides of the pond.” Excited to announce that #FindingFreedom, a biography written by myself and @CarolynDurand, will be available worldwide in August. For the first time, go beyond the headlines and discover the true story of Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex.https://t.co/A7B06EMaDa pic.twitter.com/KjGD9DcXaV — Omid Scobie (@scobie) May 4, 2020 https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js Royal watchers will recognize the authors’ names: based in London, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand have both been covering the British royal family for years, and are part of the select group of journalists that travels with the royals for official engagements. Scobie is royal editor for Harper’s Bazaar and host of ABC’s royal podcast, “The Heir Pod.”

The Met Gala is Going Digital – Here’s How You Can Attend This Year’s Event Online

May 04, 2020 at 04:40PM Ah, the first Monday in May. Usually the biggest day on fashion’s calendar, this year looks a little different in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, that doesn’t mean the show isn’t going on at all. Though the stars won’t be gracing the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art this evening, the Costume Institute is bringing a little of its newest exhibition, About Time: Fashion and Duration, to the public today. According to WWD, the Met is releasing some content on the new exhibition, as well as from past Met Galas, online. So not only will you get a behind-the-scenes look at this year’s exhibition (which covers 150 years of fashion), you’ll also likely spot a famous face (or fifteen) in the archival gala footage. Additionally, the organization is encouraging people to take part in the #MetGalaChallenge online. The task is simple: re-create your favourite standout look from the Met Gala red carpet, take a picture of yourself and upload it to Insta. Billy Porter has been tasked with selecting the best looks which will then appear on the Met, Costume Institute and Vogue US Instagram pages. As it stands, the exhibition has been delayed until October 29. As for the actual Met Gala, a spokeswoman told the site, “The gala is still under discussion.” Elsewhere on the internet today, a group of college students are also hosting their own virtual Met Gala party. As reported by the New York Times, the first High Fashion Twitter

J Lo Looks Like an Elegant Backyard Bride in This Little White Dress

May 04, 2020 at 03:38PM View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jennifer Lopez (@jlo) on May 3, 2020 at 1:13pm PDT Even though we’re used to seeing J Lo in glamorous, body-hugging white gowns on the red carpet, she looks so incredibly natural jumping for joy in this little white dress on Instagram. Over the weekend, J Lo posted a lengthy caption about being grateful alongside a series of beautiful shots; she can now also add acrobat to her resume, I guess! Of course, the minidress in its ivory shade – with elegant details such as dipped sides, pleats at the waist, and a full skirt – reminded us of a very simple bridal look. And for J Lo, this vibe is a breath of fresh air – it’s relatable. (Perhaps even especially relatable to brides who have recently opted for no-frill wedding ceremonies due to COVID-19, tying the knot in their backyard on a warm spring day in a maxi dress). Related: These Casual Brides Will Make You Want to Throw On Pants and Head to City Hall We aren’t saying J Lo and ARod got married or anything, but we are saying that we can picture it being a great success now that we’ve seen J Lo send out “backyard bride” vibes, accessorizing her sophisticated number with nothing but her signature gold hoops. We’re going to just leave this here and encourage you to read Jennifer’s thoughtful caption, something we could all stand to hear

I’ll Be Living In These 8 Staples While I Work From Home

May 04, 2020 at 03:00PM Apologies if you’re seasoned in working from home, but for many of us, the next few weeks and months will probably be about creating a good routine. To me, a big part of this will be finding outfits that do two things: firstly, make us feel comfortable, and secondly, make us feel good. I know that some will roll their eyes at the idea of putting any thought into an outfit that will only be seen by your flatmates and/or the cashier at the corner shop. But in my experience, a good outfit really can have the power to shift our mood.  I’m not going to suggest everyone should swan around their living rooms in tulle gowns and heels (although if that’s what keeps you going, then more power to you), but maybe it’s something as small as throwing on a brightly coloured jumper or slipping on a deliciously soft pair of cashmere joggers. It’s these little pick-me-ups that can make all the difference in the long run. Essentially, you gotta do what you gotta do. But if you happen to crave a bit of inspiration in the working-from-home wardrobe department, I’ve created a list of the pieces I’ll be wearing over the coming weeks and months. I’m all about the luxe basics that will feel as comfy as pyjamas but will still help me transition into my work zone. And as buying new isn’t realistic to many of us right now, many of these items are basics that you might already find within your wardrobe.  Up next: The 9 Pieces I Need to

Met Gala 2020: How to Watch Vogue’s Digital Fashion Event “A Moment With the Met”

May 04, 2020 at 02:46PM The Costume Institute’s spring 2020 exhibition “About Time: Fashion and Duration” is postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), but we’re still getting a (virtual) Met Gala. To mark the first Monday in May, Vogue is live streaming a digital fashion event, A Moment With the Met, exclusively on YouTube. While we wait patiently for the opening of the Costume Institute’s newest exhibition on 29 October, Vogue‘s A Moment With the Met promises an intimate evening with “a special performance by Florence + The Machine and a DJ set by Virgil Abloh”. The event kicks off on Monday, 4 May, at 6pm ET/10pm GMT on the magazine’s American YouTube channel. Instead of the usual fundraising for the Met’s Costume Institute and the CFDA’s A Common Thread initiative, Vogue is encouraging viewers to make a donation to either organization if possible. “It would be impossible to recreate the gala on Monday evening, though I have loved hearing how so many are marking the occasion in their own ways,” said Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue. “So instead, I asked a few friends to join me for a simple moment – one that I hope will bring us all a bit of joy.” Continue Reading… Author Kara Kia | Popsugar Selected by CWC
