If Madewell’s Virtual Styling Appointments Are the Future of Online Shopping, Sign Me Up

May 21, 2020 at 04:10PM Online shopping is the preferred method for most. As a culture, we’ve come to expect convenience, quality, and instant gratification. However, there is something lost with ecommerce. You sacrifice the interaction with shop owners and sales associates and the advice and intimate knowledge they have on the products they sell. There’s also the constant issue of fit challenges when ordering online. With stores all over the country shut down, brands have had to quickly adapt and engage with their customers in new ways. We’ve seen virtual wedding dress fittings and online sample sales, and now virtual styling sessions are beginning to emerge. I recently tried my first one with Madewell and found it struck the perfect balance between online shopping and the in-store experience. Not to mention the pleasure of having lighthearted conversation with someone new, an experience social distancing has made challenging. Even as some states begin plans to reopen stores, shoppers may be hesitant to enter anytime soon. A simple Zoom chat with a stylist provided personalized attention from the comfort of my own home. So, what was it all like? How Do You Make an Appointment? It was easy! I set up a free appointment with an online Madewell stylist using this link. Then, I got an email confirming my appointment along with a questionnaire about what I was looking for and a brief description of my overall style. It took less than five minutes to answer. I also shared my Instagram

Vanessa Hudgens Bought 1 Turquoise Bikini and Wore It 2 Ways – Voila!

May 21, 2020 at 04:06PM Vanessa Hudgens shared her at-home swimsuit style with followers, tagging the brand of her bikini in her Instagram Stories. I’m sure she figured fans would be curious, since her two-piece is undeniably sexy what with its barely there lucite rings and cheeky bottom. The Heart of Sun Gigi set retails for $144 and comes with a halter top that, as Vanessa later discovered, is pretty darn versatile and can be transformed into a bandeau with some rejiggering of the straps. “Just realized I was wearing my bathing suit top wrong loool,” Vanessa wrote when she got inside and looked at herself in the mirror. I wouldn’t say either way is necessarily wrong, but in the case of this particular suit, it’s cool to see how different it can look with a simple tweak. So, Vanessa bought one bikini but wore it two ways – not a bad way to start off the swim season, huh? Vanessa accessorized her look with a bunch of layered gold necklaces and bracelets, plus a pair of sunglasses and a scrunchie while she was sunbathing. Scroll through to see the swim moment in full, then pick up Vanessa’s exact design or another turquoise bikini in the same bright hue. 7 Simple Ways To Live More Sustainably | Third Space

Here’s how to make your everyday a little more green. Do you remember when the world was on fire? It’s easy to forget in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, but 2020 began with an environmental crisis that shocked the world and sprung many of us into action. Climate change seems like such a big problem that combating it feels futile but individual efforts, embraced across society, can have a major impact. Staying at home during lockdown has seen pollution levels plummet across the world, but that won’t last. It’s up to us, therefore, when we do gradually return to normal, to make that return as gentle for the planet as is possible. These ethical habits can help you to do your bit. Eat locally Just as they were there for you when you needed toilet paper, often your local shops are better stocked with essential items – and that includes fruit and veg. They may not have your preferred cotes de Provence, but the trays and bowls of fruit and veg out the front will stock your kitchen with nutrients while avoiding the aisles of plastic covered produce and big carbon footprints of supermarkets. Or, if you fancy going digital, the Farmdrop farm-to-door delivery service connects you directly with local farmers, to ensure maximum transparency. Or Oddbox will deliver ingredients that, though they look a little wonky, are entirely good for you and would otherwise go to waste. Don’t let food go to waste Speaking of waste, statistics show that the UK alone

Of Course, Rosie HW’s Take on Loungewear Is Seriously Chic

May 21, 2020 at 03:00PM Whether at an event or within the comfort of her own home, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley never ceases to dress with style. Proving just that this week, Whiteley took to Instagram to give her 11.1 million followers an insight into her home life, sharing a few images of herself in her loungewear and what she’s reading. As to be expected, we learned the model’s at-home attire is just as considered as her usual everyday outfits. While staying at home, Rosie opted to wear a sleek silk button-down shirt by Michael Lo Sordo (with several buttons undone to add to the relaxed feel) and paired the item with a chunky gold chain necklace. By the way of beauty, Whiteley styled her hair scraped back in a messy bun and little-to-no makeup. If you are looking for something a little smarter than a hoodie to wear at home (but for something just as comfortable as any loungewear), then a silky pyjama style shirt like Rosie’s is a keeper. The plus side is it’ll look put-together for any conference calls or Friday drinks on Houseparty. Keep scrolling to see Rosie’s loungewear look and then shop white shirts below.  Next up, the biggest S/S 20 fashion trends you need to know.  Author Zoe Anastasiou | Whowhatwear Selected by CWC

Here’s Where Canadians Plan to Travel Post-Lockdown

May 21, 2020 at 02:55PM Unfortunately the only travel-related activity we’re doing right now is… cancelling all the plans we’d made for the summer. It’s disappointing, but with international travel likely restricted for months to come, Canadians are shifting their attention closer to home. According to new data from Booking.com, interest in domestic getaways has risen from 33% to 51%, with local properties in Canada appearing more frequently on travel ‘wish lists’ created on their website in March and April 2020 as compared to the same months in 2019. Read on for the top 5 wish-listed domestic destinations for Canadians, and our suggestions for some of the best local shops, boutiques and small businesses to support in each city. Degrassi Alum Sarah Barrable-Tishauer’s Dance, Dance Revolution

May 21, 2020 at 02:00PM Ask any introvert who’s been so carried away by a killer groove that she’s abandoned her inhibitions and busted a move in the middle of a crowded floor: At its core, dance music is about tapping into some sort of primal impulse. So it’s one of the great ironies of club culture that the tracks that spark maximum joy (and countless carpool karaoke sessions) for so many—that is, singalong pop songs— are considered kryptonite to DJs. “There’s a degree of seriousness that goes along with DJing in the dance-music community,” explains Sarah Barrable-Tishauer, a former Degrassi: The Next Generation star (fans will remember her as the fiercely ambitious Liberty Van Zandt) who performs under the name Me Time. “You don’t play music with lyrics, and you don’t play what’s popular.” Much to the joy of the hundreds (maybe thousands) of revelers who’ve danced like no one’s watching while she’s behind the decks, Me Time has no time for such arbitrary rules. Make no mistake: The Toronto-based DJ takes her craft incredibly seriously. She just happens to also take seriously the belief that a dance floor should be a safe, supportive and positive space for everyone—regardless of gender, race, class…or musical proclivities. She ended an early-autumn set at Toronto’s Cherry Beach with the heart-surging strains of Cher’s Believe; during another recent gig, she gleefully dropped J.Lo’s Waiting for Tonight into the mix. “These are the moments when people get to toss away their attitudes and belt from
