Dior to Host Cruise 2021 Show in Italy Next Month
June 22, 2020 at 06:41PM Despite a handful of brands opting out of physical runway shows in favour of digital presentations, Dior has announced that it will host a runway show for its Cruise 2021 collection on July 22 in Lecce, Italy. Despite the physical nature of the show, there will be no audience present. In a call with press this morning, Pietro Beccari, the president and CEO at the brand, said there were three reasons the show is going ahead. “The first one for Maria Grazia and I, but I think we are not the only ones: luxury is emotions and when it comes to fashion there is nothing that carries the emotion of a real fashion show, a live performance where art is performed without a safety net.” He added that the other two reasons were to allow the brand to continue to support everyone involved in the show, from the artisans who produce the clothes to the models who wear them and everyone in between, and the fact that both he and Chiuri are Italian. “The support for our country is important for both of us, [as is] the support for the Puglia region, which was so badly hit by the crisis and on the edge of bankruptcy, but with a strong will to fight.” Beccari also confirmed that Dior will indeed show at Paris Fashion Week in September, saying, ” We hope to be able to have some audience , if not a full room.” However

Laverne Cox Is Auctioning Off Her Custom Rainbow Pride Clutch From the 2019 Emmys
June 22, 2020 at 04:46PM Laverne Cox is auctioning off her custom Edie Parker clutch from the 2019 Emmys to support the LGBTQ+ community. The actress showed up to the award show with ACLU lawyer Chase Strangio carrying this incredible rainbow Edie Parker clutch. Laverne styled the clutch with a Monsoori dress and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. The statement-making accessory had the date Oct. 8 written on it, which was when the US Supreme Court was set to hear whether Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (which prohibits sex discrimination in the work place) applies to LGBTQ+ discrimination. On June 15, 2020, the Supreme Court ruled that the act protects gay and transgender workers from workplace discrimination. If you’re hoping to get your hands on this one-of-a-kind clutch, the two-week auction is now open on Charitybuzz, an online bidding site that raises funds for nonprofits. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the auction will be going to the Anti-Violence Project, an organization that helps keep the LGBTQ+ community safe from intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and police violence. The film snippets, which were curated and strung together by Christelle de Castro to form the colorful clip you’ll see ahead, were shot on GoPros and smart phones during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Coach Foundation has committed to making donations to the Hetrick-Martin Institute, GLSEN, and the Albert Kennedy Trust in support this year, and Coach is encouraging us all to wear our love and inclusivity on our sleeves with its first-ever full, cross-category range designed to be gender inclusive.
