This Is the Summer Dress I Always Come Back to

June 19, 2020 at 06:24AM Love dresses? Then you’ve come to the right place. We’re always here for you to document the biggest dress trends and since last summer we noticed that the favourites tended to be of the polka dot variety. Then for this year’s spring/summer collections, polka dots were even bigger news and were featured in an array of different styles—whether oversized or backed by bold colours, summer 2020 is when the polka dot really takes centre stage.  The best thing about this trend? It’s a style that’s not going to date, and if you play your cards right (i.e., pick a dress that makes you feel good and fits you well), you’ll be wearing this hero piece for many years to come. At the top of my list is the Mother of Pearl collaboration with John Lewis & Partners (spotted on Zeena Shah, above) and Kitri’s ’70s-inspired belted number, which is sure to suit every body type and will bring a smile to your face (it’s literally the perfect shade of pink). Also, Ganni’s fabulous statement collar mini needs a mention, but be quick as it’s in the sale and about to sell out. Scroll down to see that and shop our full edit of polka-dot dresses.  Who What Wear’s Hannah wearing a flamenco-style gown from De La Vali. Style Notes: A black polka-dot midi is now a firm favourite in the fashion girl’s wardrobe. Just add chunky sandals for comfy WFH style.  Next up, the biggest spring/summer 2020 fashion trends to know.

8 Warm-Weather Outfit Ideas to Try This Weekend

June 19, 2020 at 06:06AM Weekends are going to look a little different this summer. There are no two ways about it.While once we may have met friends at pubs or cafés en masse, now we’re having to socially distance in parks alongside a limited number of individuals. Group brunches have been replaced with quiz-filled Zoom calls, and trips home to visit family or loved ones are now relegated to digital FaceTime experiences.  And while summer 2020, will certainly not have the same feel as years passed, there’s no reason your wardrobe has to reflect this readjusted state of being. In fact, here at Who What Wear, we are advocates for continuing to dress for your own happiness no matter what the circumstances may be. With that said, I’m here to bring you weekend outfit ideas that will feel fresh this season, regardless of the plans you have in store.  From tailored, suit-inspired shorts and a knitted tank to bright patterned trousers and a vibrant cardigan, there are no rules when it comes to summer dressing. Make it as minimalist or maximalist as you like. 5 Ways to Style Swimwear When You’re Not on Holiday

June 19, 2020 at 06:00AM Shopping for swimwear in 2020 might not have quite the same wanderlust appeal as it would on a normal year of jet-setting, however, after talking to various friends and colleagues it seems as though our appetite for spending on winning swimmers hasn’t totally disappeared during the lockdown. So, whether you’re lucky enough to have your own garden at home or just happy to head to a nearby park, we can all get in the holiday spirit this summer by donning our favourite swimsuit and soaking up some rays staycation-style (with plenty of SPF, obvs).  But alas, this isn’t quite the French Riviera, so we can’t just pad around in our bikinis all day, however, over the last few weeks, I’ve seen so many stylish individuals on Instagram repping enviable outfits that perfectly incorporate their swimwear with this year’s key summer buys. We’re talking short-sleeve shirts, straight-leg jeans, retro prints and linen blouses. Oh, and a good dose of delicate gold jewellery.  So if you’re in the mood to channel some escapist spirit, make like Charlotte Khurt, Lucy Williams and Chrissy Ford et al and get ready to style-up your swimwear with plenty of personalty this June. I’m Suddenly Obsessed With Summer Hats and Love These 15

June 19, 2020 at 06:00AM I always love the idea of a flamboyant sun hat for a holiday, except, in reality, it involves either having to pack it into a suitcase and ruin its shape forever or keep it in pristine condition by wearing it to Gatwick airport at 4 a.m. Neither is ideal. This year, we’re all dressing like we’re going on holiday in the park, so wearing an OTT sun hat is much more appealing when you don’t have the packing problem to contend with.  Thanks to Jacquemus, over the past few years there has been a trend for XL straw boaters, and you’ll find plenty of dramatic sun hats that are so large they double as an umbrella. Ribbons are an added detail that gives a Riviera feel to any straw hat. This summer we’re also seeing the revival of bucket hats you would have worn when you were 5-years-old—think tie-dye, retro floral prints and rainbow stripes. I’ve Officially Found My Dream Summer Jacket and It’s From John Lewis

June 19, 2020 at 06:00AM As Who What Wear’s shopping editor, it’s fair to say I have an embarrassingly in-depth knowledge of the current collections of both high street and designer brands—yup, I can’t remember anything from my degree, but I can tell you where to find the perfect white tee (it’s Arket, if you’re wondering). Useful for a pub quiz? Not so much. Helpful for my job? Absolutely! With this in mind, it’s not often that I see something that genuinely stops me in my tracks, and even more unusual for it to be an item from the high street. But this season something came along that blew everything else out the water. The piece in question? A jacket from John Lewis & Partners.  For summer 2020 this Great British high street institution harnessed its minimalist-cool in-house brand Kin to join forces with Japanese artist Rie Takeda. Using the term ‘Neo-Japonism’ to describe her art, Takeda’s work combines traditional Japanese artisanship with contemporary elements, something that is beautifully displayed in her fashion designs.  ‘In Neo-Japonism, rich layers of technical and aesthetic understanding are interlaced,’ explains Rie of the DNA that runs through her art and subsequently, the designs in this collection. ‘It’s a way of achieving a fresh unity of traditional and contemporary art forms. The continuity of time and spiritual existence is always a key inspiration within my work, where I depict and convey a sense of Japanese aesthetics.’ With its clean lines and sculptural silhouette design, the collection’s wrap jacket won me over the moment I spotted it online. The High-Street Cardigans Keeping Me Cosy at Home

June 19, 2020 at 06:00AM According to global fashion search platform Lyst, there has been a 6% increase in searches for cardigans in London week on week, which is no surprise considering many of us are spending a lot more time in our homes and in need of a fashion-based comfort blanket. Out of all our knitwear options, cardigans arguably have the greatest nostalgic associations, and while they might remind us of our school days, 2020’s high-street iterations are anything but childish. The ideal throw-on layer for the changeable British summer, I’ve been wearing mine when sat at my desk and in need of warming or an extra layer, or when the temperature drops in the evening. Two of the most viewed brands that topped the list were not designer offerings, but Arket and & Other Stories. Clearly, the high street is the place to be right now when it comes to cardigans. A bit of research online confirmed this, and let’s just say we now have a few new additions to our new season wishlists. From Arket’s clean-lined styles and H&M’s simple knits to Stories’s soft pastels and ASOS’s cute cropped iterations, scroll down to shop our favourite cardigans on the high street now. Style Notes: If you’re in need of a polished pick-me-up, make like Grece and throw an animal-print style with a pair of tailored trousers.  Next: I Live in Paris and This Is My Capsule for Summer 2020 Author Joy Montgomery | Whowhatwear Selected by CWC

All About Mariah Linney, Outer Banks Star Madison Bailey’s Girlfriend

June 18, 2020 at 11:55PM There must be something in the water over at Outer Banks. A few days after Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes, who play love interests Sarah and John B on the show, confirmed they’re dating, another OBX co-star has announced her new relationship. Madison Bailey, who plays Kiara on Outer Banks, revealed on TikTok that she’s dating UNC-Charlotte basketball player Mariah Linney, 21. Ahead, everything we know about Bailey’s new girlfriend, including how TikTok introduced the couple. The couple is Instagram and TikTok official. In late May, Bailey came out as pansexual on her TikTok, writing, “Nobody knows what pansexual means. Girls, boys, trans boys, trans girls, nonbinary babies. It’s what’s on the inside, boo.” She previously alluded to her sexuality in a September 2019 Instagram post captioned, “Easily distracted by all genders?️‍?.” This content is imported from TikTok. Bailey’s next TikTok, which has been viewed nearly 13 million times, confirmed her relationship with Linney.
