June 15, 2020 at 10:53AM Unlike the January sales (which all start within a week of each other), the summer sales can be harder to keep track of. Their start dates will be staggered across the months, meaning you have to be more strategic. This month is big for sale shoppers and designer lovers, as MatchesFashion is dropping its prices. And there’s no forgetting high-street brands, including Arket and Topshop, which have everything from boilersuits to summer dresses. Of course, we’re heading toward those cult buys we’ve spotted all over our Insta feeds so far this year, but we’re also picking the pieces you’ll still want to for many years to come. Yes, we mean Wandler bags and Arket tailoring. To help you navigate the often-confusing summer sale season, we’re alerting you when the big events start and pointing you to the best buys around. SYNAPTIC ANATOMY: 6 HERBS + NOOTROPIC PLANTS THAT SUPPORT BRAIN HEALTH
June 15, 2020 at 11:04AM Whether you’re 18 or 98, it’s never too early or too late to tend to your neural ‘forest’. Whether you’re concerned about your memory, are looking to optimize your mental acuity in your career or education, or are just now expanding your health efforts to include the cerebral, there are simple steps you can take to support your mental health and brain function. We asked herbalist Adriana Ayales of Anima Mundi to break down a few basics below… SYNAPTIC ANATOMY Although I’m not certainly not a neuroscientist myself, as an herbalist I’m obsessed with the subject and I study quite intensively from many leading neuroscientists that are pulsating very insightful and cutting-edge studies on the mysteries of brain and consciousness. Although this subject is very deep and wide, I’ll do a tiny intro for those of you that are looking to immerse yourself in the field. Synapses are the electric responses that move lightning fast across the neural network. Memory and cognition are just two of the many functions within the neural. Neuroscience has discovered that some synapses move faster than the speed of light when certain brain waves are in effect, like gamma waves. Everyone has gamma brainwave activity, but the number of gamma waves produced varies. People with very high levels of gamma activity are exceptionally intelligent, compassionate, have strong self-control and corresponds to a state of peak performance. Neuroscientists believe that people can train themselves to produce more of the gamma frequency,
The New Restaurant Etiquette: 6 Things To Know Before Dining Out Again
June 15, 2020 at 10:55AM This week in L.A., restaurants have finally re-opened after months of government-ordered closures — with restrictions. While we can’t wait to head to our favorite coffee shops, cafes and evening hot spots again, the rules of dining have changed. According to one of our favorite Venice restauranteurs, Hayley Feldman of Chez Tex, here are a few things you should know before heading out… make a reservation. Although most restaurants are still accepting walk-ins, most reservation platforms allow you to choose where you sit in the restaurant (for example, if there is outdoor seating). Be aware, some restaurants will only accept reservations as they plan for new limited dining spaces. Formal reservations can also help restaurants to track any potential / future outbreaks. Wear a mask. You’re probably wondering how you’re supposed to eat and drink while wearing a mask! Safe restaurants are requiring masks upon arrival, departure, and for bathroom breaks, but when seated at your table, it’s not necessary to wear your mask. Always bring a mask if you’re planning to eat out — even if it’s just to grab a coffee or glass of wine. Without one, you risk being turned away. Keep it intimate. Most restaurants are limiting the number of guests allowed to dine in. Keep your party size small (2-4 people), so as to limit exposure and guarantee you spot at a table without any trouble. New table manners. You might notice that your share plates and utensils aren’t changed

The One Haircare Product We Can All Benefit From Using
June 15, 2020 at 06:30AM Much like face oils, hair oils also have the power to divide beauty buffs far and wide. While some love the nourishing, intensely moisturising properties of hair oils, others detest their weighty, greasy nature. However, unlike face oils, when it comes to expert opinion, general consensus is that, actually, adding a hair oil into your routine can only make things better, you just need to know how to use them. As someone that has very fine, limp hair, I have avoided hair oils for as long as I can remember. Sure, I like the way that they leave my bleached ends feeling silky smooth, but something about adding a greasy formula to my grease-prone lengths has always felt counter-intuitive. Having said that, considering that (as a result of lockdown) I haven’t had my hair cut or coloured in nearly six months, my hair is crying out for some nourishment. After putting out a cry for help on my Instagram, I was inundated with different hair oil recommendations. Literally willing to try anything to add some life back into my straw-like ends, for the first time in my life I considered adding a hair oil to my routine. But first, I wanted to reach out to those most in the know to make sure I was making the right decision. “Hair oils help to seal the hair cuticle, laying it flat and adding smoothness and shine. Many oils contain fatty acids, which replace the lipids in damaged
4 Outfits I Wore With Just One Pair of Leggings
June 15, 2020 at 06:30AM Working at home right now, my priority is comfort, but if I’m being honest, I’ve felt like I’ve been in a bit of a slump by wearing the same athleisure looks day after day. Fashion is something that makes me happy and gives me a mental boost, so I’ve been challenging myself to dress up a little bit each morning, which has returned some moments of fun to my days at home. This week, I used black leggings as the building block to my outfits. Black leggings are a wardrobe staple I wear on the regular, but in the past, I have reserved them for workouts. Recently, though, as they have become a core staple in my wardrobe, I’ve come around to the idea of wearing leggings as trousers. Yes, as trousers. Moving away from my workout-only looks, I added in some of my regular wardrobe essentials like button-down tops and oversize blazers to make the outfits feel more polished. (I found it was easy to dress them up.) Trust me—I would wear each of these looks outside the house in the future. Consider my outlook on leggings forever changed. Scroll on to see my black-legging outfits here. These black leggings have a high-rise silhouette and perfect fit that makes them great for a workout, yes, but also to wear as trousers as I did here. One of my favourite ways to style a button-down top is by wearing it unbuttoned from the waist. I think it lends any outfit
The Warm Weather Hero We’re Living in Right Now
June 15, 2020 at 06:00AM It seems as though summer 2020 is all about the basic, whether it’s the perfect tracksuit bottom, the ultimate white tee or the most versatile throw-on dress. This adoration for all things classic has also brought about a renewed love for shorts, and specifically linen shorts. We might not be jetting off on holidays this year, but this comfortable wardrobe hero is sure to instantly transport you to those sun-drenched beaches (well, in your mind anyway). With its breathable and light texture, linen is exactly the sort of fabric you want to be wearing when the temperature rises and you need something to carry you from sofa to desk to supermarket with ease. Typically, this is a style that comes in neutrals, such as white, beige and black, and while there are plenty of these low-key buys about this year, there is also a good selection of bright colours and feel good prints for those who want it. When it comes to styling, I recommend sticking to simple separates—a linen shirt will also make for a fun pairing, as will a boxy tee or a tank top. More tailored iterations will also lend themselves to more polished blouses or blazers, for when you crave a more smart finish. Ready to go? Scroll down to shop what is sure to be summer 2020’s most hard-working staple. Up Next: Your Guide to the Key Trends for Summer 2020 Author Joy Montgomery | Whowhatwear Selected by CWC
35 Iconic 1980s Fashion Moments We Never Want to Forget
June 15, 2020 at 05:22AM When it comes to ’80s fashion, we have a (surprising) amount to be thankful for. While the decade previously hadn’t influenced our wardrobes for a long time, in recent years, we’ve come to the realisation that all the most current trends today are courtesy of the ’80s. Now, if you’re not too familiar with the nuances of this era, there are a few standout looks we’re sure you’ll recognise: big shoulders, white jeans, underwear as outerwear and oversized jewellery. It was the decade of the power dresser but also of punks. It gave us Madonna, Sade, Tina Turner and Cher, plus numerous other superstars whose sense of style influences many right now. Don’t believe us? From the fact that Princess Diana’s archive is inspiring some of the world’s most influential designers to the more basic resurgence in women wearing blazers with jeans again, we’ve found 35 A-list images that prove these ’80s fashion looks are as current now as they were then. Keep scrolling to click through our gallery of iconic ’80s outfits. Style Notes: This is classic ’80s Madonna, but the underwear/bodysuit look is bang on the money for now. You can forgo the pearls—just wear yours with some high-waisted jeans for a night out. Style Notes: As if we needed any more proof that Cher is the ultimate style queen, here was the star doing the naked dress before everyone was doing it at the Met Gala (and every other award show going). Style Notes: Brooke Shields was America’s
