The 5 Archive ’70s Trends I’m Copying This Summer

June 24, 2020 at 06:00AM If I had to be transported back to one decade, it would have to be the ‘70s—well, fashion-wise anyway. I should probably clarify that I mean the more tailored end of the ’70s spectrum as opposed to the full-blown boho aesthetic. (Although, I can concede to the odd maxi dress.) It’s all about the sharp lines, statement detailing and bold prints for me. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there’s something about the leg-lengthening effect of the flare and the rock ‘n’ roll swagger of a big collar that inexorably draws me in every time. I’m thinking Bianca and Mick Jagger in matching suits, Diana Ross and her glam get-ups, and even the odd appearance from a safari suit–clad royal. Yep, the ’70s really were packed full of all of the finest fashion inspo you could ever want.  Now more than ever, we should be looking to the past for future outfit ideas. After all, with glossy shoots on hold, why not take a chance to rummage in the archive? I certainly am. To save you time trawling through the endless depths of the internet, I’ve done a little digging and found five throwback pics that I love and am using to inspire my outfits this summer. From warm-weather gingham and kick-ass jumpsuits to safari co-ords and statement collars, scroll down to see what I found, and shop the look with my pre-loved edits. These Sandals Were Sold Out Everywhere Last Year, and They’re Finally in Stock

June 24, 2020 at 05:00AM Sandal brand Arizona Love popped up on my radar last year when I spotted a steady stream of Instagram influencers wearing the printed trek sandals. Jessie Bush, Erica Davies and our very own Who What Wear columnist Monikh were all spotted wearing the shoes. There was only one problem: They kept selling out. Thankfully, the brand has created even more styles and has been restocked on various online retailers.  Much like the Velcro “dad” sandals by Chanel, Teva‘s classic hikers and all the other iterations before and after, these are sandals of the practical variety. While they’re a traditional hiking style, the multicoloured fabric wrapped around the straps makes them so much more fun. The brand was started only a couple of years by French designer Leslie Halfon, but it’s become a real fashion-insider score and completely sold out last summer. So take it from us: You’ll want to get your hands on these pretty quickly before it happens again. Style Notes: Always joyful and colourful, Zeena Shah shows us how to wear these sandals by matching them to your outfit. Style Notes: Matching colours and patterns.  Style Notes: These pearl versions look good with everything.  Style Notes: Trust Monikh to be wearing one of the biggest sandal brands around right now.  Style Notes: More proof that these look excellent with a summer dress.  Style Notes: If you need some pedi inspo, then might we suggest a bold red for the leopard-print versions?  Style Notes: Another great thing about these sandals is that, despite the bold patterns, they

If I Could Wear 1 Shirt All Summer, It Would Be This $16 Striped Button-Down

June 23, 2020 at 11:55PM What qualities make up the perfect summer shirt? For me, I always start by finding a fabric that’s lightweight and breathable. Next, I look for a top that’s versatile so I can wear it with everything already in my warm-weather wardrobe: jean shorts, maxi skirts, and even biker shorts. Then, the print itself has to be fun. After seeing bold striped button-downs cropping up on stylish women all over Instagram, I went on a hunt to find a short-sleeved version I could introduce to my closet. The Old Navy Relaxed Vertical-Stripe Cap-Sleeve Shirt ($16, originally $30) has everything I was looking for. It features vertical stripes that make me think of ocean vacations, and the fabric is lightweight: a mix of cotton and rayon. Check out how some of my favorite influencers have been styling their striped button-downs, then sprint on over to Old Navy to check out my top pick. It’s 25 percent off today. June 23, 2020 at 09:14PM Each year, Apple holds its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) at its headquarters in Cupertino, California. However, given that COVID-19 restrictions are still in place, the tech giant had to take its annual gathering virtual. Millie Bobby Brown’s Cropped Denim Jacket Makes Me Wonder If It’s Time to Grab the Scissors

June 23, 2020 at 09:23PM Millie Bobby Brown, style icon in her own right, shared an Instagram shot of herself from what appears to be a visit to her hairstylist. All posed up in the barber chair, she asked her followers, “Straight or curly?” referring to her hair. But me – I’m the fashion editor over here – thinking to myself, “Cropped or oversize?,” and my focus is on her denim jacket. Millie’s is from River Island, originally retailing for less than $100, though it’s now sold out (don’t worry, we found a similar one after the jump). The tight fit and and structured, triangular collar with moto details scream ’80s to me, but wasn’t it just yesterday that Hailey Bieber was making the oversize fit look cool? Whereas I left all my micro-cropped outerwear in storage at my parents’ house, I’m now considering taking a pair of scissors to my favorite Levi’s jacket. Wouldn’t it look cool slashed and distressed – just underneath the bust – with a white ribbed tank top underneath? Of course, I could go all out like Millie did and throw on a pair of matching light-wash jeans to really make a statement. Just to further prove that Millie was fueled by the ’80s with this look, she accessorized with a scrunchie on her wrist. Scroll down to shop her exact pair of Mother Denim pants and tortoise Vogue Eyewear sunglasses, then scoop up what appears to be the piece du jour, folks: the cropped
