11 ‘90s Films I Always Get Outfit Ideas from

June 09, 2020 at 07:00AM There’s no denying that the ’90s was a real golden age for movies. I can only talk for myself but as a teenager during that time, there were quite a few films that had an impact on me. Of course, a lot to do with that is whether Leonardo di Caprio was starring but there was also another reason why I still love these films today: the fashion. While Clueless is always the most often referred to there are so many other movies that should be celebrated too. Right now, thanks to our continuing obsession with nostalgia and the ’90s being a major trend for spring/summer 2020, not to mention our love of ’80s and ’70s fashion, I’m turning to those classic movies more and more for wardrobe inspiration. Keep scrolling for the 11 films I’m re-watching to help get dressed right now… Were you even a teenage girl in the ’90s if you didn’t do “light as a feather, stiff as a board” with your mates at a sleepover? The Craft is one of those films that will remain as one of my favourites of all time. While levitation attempts might have been a dud, the goth-meets-school-girl is one I will always try to replicate. Cardigans worn over white shirts is what I’m loving here.  Kat in 10 Things I Hate About You was so refreshing. She didn’t try to be popular—she didn’t care. Her outfits were a mix of hoodies, long-sleeved T-shirts and combat trousers. A look I

This Under-the-Radar Skincare Brand Is a Beauty-Editor Favourite

June 09, 2020 at 06:30AM With the power of social media, it is very rare in the world of beauty that any brand can be regarded as “under the radar.” You see, every time a person of note likes something and posts about it on their Instagram, they set the whole beauty world on fire. While this is most certainly the case for the majority of brands and products, even in 2020, not everything great breaks the internet. I know we’ve discussed this before, but the reality is even when a product is really, really great, if it doesn’t look the part, the chances of it making it onto the Discover page are low. How do I know this, you ask? Well, because I’m very much in the midst of it. When you spend a lot of time around friends and colleagues who are also beauty editors, experts and specialists, you soon realise that there are two types of favourites: the buzzy ones that everyone posts about and the ones that everyone kind of wants to keep for themselves. One of the latter brands is Paula’s Choice. Founded 25 years ago by Paula Begoun, Paula’s Choice is one of the most highly regarded skincare brands around. Begoun, who has basically dedicated her life to clearing up and simplifying the skincare bubble and has written a number of brilliant books that have pride of place on my bookshelf, champions the idea that skincare should always be backed by scientific evidence and extensive product research. Essentially,

This Is How to Get Your Pores Under Control in the Summer, According to Experts

June 09, 2020 at 06:30AM As a beauty editor, I’m lucky enough to have seasoned skin experts examine my complexion on a regular basis. For years, I have had facialist after facialist tell me that my congested pores need a little help. And it’s true; they always have. Unlike those that are blessed with buttery complexions, my T-zone is plagued with blackheads, and where they aren’t present, my pores appear like cratered pinpricks all over my face. Usually, it doesn’t bother me all that much. Not because they’re not evident but because every time things start to get a little out of hand, I can go running to a facialist who I know will fix it for me. However, the last few months have seen my pore situation get out of control. Without the option of going for regular facials (honestly, who do I think I am?) and since the weather has started to heat up, my face is in a bad way. So after trying countless cleansers and scrubs and realising that relying on facials to fix an ongoing skin problem isn’t a sustainable way to move forward, I figured it best to reach out to those in the know who can teach me how to manage my pore situation on my own at home. Keep scrolling for everything I’ve learned. I did sort of already know this, but I didn’t know the ins and outs of it. I have been told countless times by experts that our pores don’t have the

I Searched All the Sales, and These Are My Favourite Pieces

June 09, 2020 at 06:00AM Unlike the January sales (which all start within a week of each other), the summer sales can be harder to keep track of. Their start dates will be staggered across the months, meaning you have to be more strategic. This month is big for sale shoppers and designer lovers, as MatchesFashion is dropping its prices. And there’s no forgetting high-street brands, including Arket and Topshop, which have everything from boilersuits to summer dresses. Of course, we’re heading toward those cult buys we’ve spotted all over our Insta feeds so far this year, but we’re also picking the pieces you’ll still want to for many years to come. Yes, we mean Wandler bags and Arket tailoring. To help you navigate the often-confusing summer sale season, we’re alerting you when the big events start and pointing you to the best buys around. June 09, 2020 at 06:00AM It’s hard to believe that the 2020 summer sales are already here, but the time has come, and luckily for us, they’re looking pretty good this year. Of course, & Other Stories was at the top of our checklist, as it’s a brand you can always rely on for stylish, expensive-looking staples at purse-friendly prices. Sadly, we are currently unable to venture into its chicer-than-thou stores, but worry not, because the site is packed full with summer-ready wardrobe gems.  As you can imagine, there are plenty of fabulous frocks. Think floral, puff-sleeved minis, flattering shirtdresses, smocked detailing and plenty of feel-good colourways. At the top of my wish list is the organic cotton denim jumpsuit, which you can wear with sandals now and a roll-neck and boots in winter. I also have my eye on the vibrant pink midi dress, which won me over with its chic scoop neckline. Ready to go? Dress up with heels and down with chunky sandals.  A serious year-round staple.  Add to everything from jeans to midi skirts. We can never say no to a cheeky puff sleeve. Every Single Dress I Love This Summer Comes in This One Colour

June 09, 2020 at 06:00AM Green isn’t the most popular colour out there, but make a dress in the hue, and from what I’ve seen, it’s far likelier to fly off the shelves. Many of the most popular midi dresses over the past few years have all been green (often midi, floral and in a grassy shade), and this year, it’s exactly the same story. From acidic neon shades to brighter apple greens, almost every dress I have my eye on this year comes in this shade. Many of this year’s cult dresses on the high street all come in green. There’s COS’s zesty green sleeveless dress, and & Other Stories has delivered numerous beautiful green dresses. If a vibrant green dress is a little too much colour for you, you can find softer options in floral prints that have a green base—Faithfull the Brand, Ghost and Rixo have lots of options. For inspiration on how to style green dresses this summer, keep scrolling for some outfits I’ve saved this month—and then see my edit of green dresses below.  Next up, see our guide to the key trends for spring and summer 2020.
