The minute the sun starts shining, the first thing I do is dust off my go-to body beauty products from summers past and slather myself in them top to toe. If you ask me, you really can’t beat the feeling of prepping your body ready for a day of sun-drenched fun. You see, while a good summer body routine leaves skin silky smooth and glowing (which in itself is sure to make you feel good), the act of actually using summery-scented products comes with its own level of joy entirely. From sun cream and sunshine to tropical cocktails and zesty fruits, when the scents of summer come all wrapped up in the form of super nourishing, skin-loving beauty products, it’s like all of the great feelings that come hand-in-hand with summer are unleashed with every single use. And do you know what? As a beauty editor that is supposed to have a passion for all things geeky and scientific, there’s a really big part of me that just wants whatever body care product I use to smell really great. From tie-dye to linen, and Bermuda shorts, there are a few standout looks that certainly seems to have taken over our Instagram feeds in recent months.  Though not all trends are immediately obvious, as sometimes it can be the smaller details that make a look even more impactful. Enter my favourite summer dress mirco-trend: cut-out silhouettes. Whether it be an open back detail, front key-hole or waist-enhancing side splits, cut-out silhouettes seem to be everywhere at the minute. From influencer imagery to e-comm campaigns, this interesting detail has been highlighted across high-street and designer items, proving its popularity once and for all. Whether it be Cult Gaia’s Serita dress, already worn by the likes of Rosie HW and Candice Swanepoel, or Sir the Label’s Alena Open-Back dress which has captured the attention of Brittany Bathgate and Lucy Williams, it’s clear that this summer is all about statement silhouettes.  Our advice? When wearing a dress with cut-out details or an intricate design, keep the rest of your outfit relatively simple. June 08, 2020 at 06:00AM When writing our spring/summer 2020 trend report I could have never anticipated the way life was about to change. Many of the clothes arriving in stores this month were designed to be worn to weddings, pub beer gardens and summer events, however, the spring summer collections did have an overarching practical theme that makes many of the items that were tipped to spike, still relevant to our lives at home. In the spring collections, we saw a desire for more classic, timeless pieces, largely driven by sustainability having a significant impact on how trends are now shaped. One of the items that fashion buyers kept mentioning to me as a key product for the season was a blue Oxford button-down shirt by The Row. The one item that I personally keep wearing for my video work calls and keep seeing other people wearing too is an oversize Oxford shirt. The oversize, loose fit makes them feel comfortable and relaxed, plus they go with midi skirts or any jeans or trousers, making them an easy outfit to style. The most popular outfit I’ve seen people wearing is an oversize white shirt tucked into straight-leg jeans, but I’ve also seen blue shirts worn with midi skirts or Oxfords layered underneath knits. And while I tend to stick to more basics than super-trendy items, the trends that do pique my interest tend to be the more versatile and laid-back picks that fit within my simple style. On that note, I thought I’d share some of the key trends I’ve been into recently for myself and others. Naturally, I turned to some of my favorite fashion people on Instagram to showcase said easy trends. At that point, it either expires after the current season or proves to have staying power and therefore becomes “mainstream.” For as negative a connotation as it usually has, mainstream actually isn’t such a bad thing.
