July 01, 2020 at 06:00AM I don’t know about you but the past 101 days has felt long. I’ve got more grey hair, more wrinkles, and despite going to bed earlier, I’m still tired. There’s no denying that I’ve felt like I’ve aged faster in lockdown. While there’s nothing inherently wrong with this (I have no issues with changing hair colour or a few lines on my face), the speed at which it has happened has been a little disconcerting. I want to feel like myself again—and for me that means getting a haircut.  Over the past few months I’ve lost count of the amount of people who have said their hair needs cutting. From my husband to my colleagues as well as my parents, the want to get a chop has been strong. Personally, I’m desperate to get my hair cut back into a bob—I want to feel like that new and improved version that always comes post-chop. July 01, 2020 at 05:00AM It’s true: What comes around tends to go back around eventually. Since we know that fashion is cyclical in nature, it should come as no surprise when we see trends resurrect themselves from the past—sometimes from decades in the past. Designers are always revisiting the archives in order to reinvent the wheel for the seasons to come, fixating on one decade or period of time before moving onto the next. In the past several years alone, we’ve cycled through ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s fashion trends, cherry-picking which silhouettes and motifs to bring into the present-day. The great thing about vintage clothing is that if you hold onto an item for long enough, you might just see it come back into the style spotlight again. Or, like me, you can take to raiding the wardrobes of your parents and grandma to borrow the original versions and source even more from vintage stores (coincidentally also the most sustainable way to shop).
