I Think This High Street Store Has the Best Sandals This Summer

July 03, 2020 at 01:58PM For years, Arket has been a brand that customers have learned to depend on for quality items with a minimalist appeal. The brand specialises in those pieces that feel contemporary, yet are refined enough to remain in your closet for years to come.  Therefore it comes as relatively no surprise that Arket’s current footwear offering ticks all of those same boxes. With leather finishes and clean lines, Arket’s current sandal range is a minimalist’s dream, complete platform slides, heeled thong sandals and strappy flats. In timeless colourways predominantly including tan, black and beige, the collection can easily blend in with your current wardrobe, becoming the perfect understated outfit addition. In fact, we predict this collection will soon be on the feet of influencers everywhere. And considering several pairs of the sandals Arket released at the start of the season have already sold out, it seems many members of the fashion set also agree. How Natasha Roberts Builds Community Through Her Toronto Vintage Store

July 03, 2020 at 02:00PM It’s very satisfying to see something come full circle. And no one knows that better than Natasha Roberts, owner of the charming Toronto boutique, Space Vintage. Roberts comes by her retail prowess thanks to a strong example set by her mother, Ashlene; at a young age, Roberts understood the power of wellness and community through spending time at her mom’s spa, located in Toronto’s Mirvish Village neighbourhood. An underground haven complete with a water feature, the spa was like an oasis in Toronto’s bustling Annex area. A small rack of clothing was set up in the soothing spot–“Fashion was always a part of my mom’s life,” Roberts says–and through word-of-mouth, interest in the finery being sold was swiftly generated. “Demand started to grow,” she recalls. “And we changed the spa into Space Vintage.” It became so popular, the likes of Nelly Furtado and Rachel McAdams were counted as fans of the store when it came to finding pieces for event dressing, After nearly two fruitful decades in the same location, the demolition of Toronto’s famed Honest Ed’s building and the rest of the surrounding block of businesses meant Space was in need of, well, a new one. “We were displaced, and it was kind of miraculous to find somewhere in Kensington,” Roberts says, noting that her mother shopped in the iconic neighbourhood and dreamed of having a store there. “There was just something about it that was full circle.” View this post on Instagram A

You’ll Want to Be a Baby-Sitters Club Member After Seeing All Their Outfits

July 03, 2020 at 02:40PM Netflix’s reboot of The Baby-Sitters Club is both nostalgic and heartwarming, but it’s also filled with some memorable fashion. Just like the original book series, the show follows a group of friends – Kristy (Sophie Grace), Mary Anne (Malia Baker), Claudia (Momona Tanada), Stacey (Shay Rudolph), and Dawn (Xochitl Gomez) – who decide to run a local babysitting service. While their various leadership skills all bring something special to the club, they also have very different personalities, which costume designer Cynthia Summers portrays through their outfits. The club’s president, Kristy, is often seen wearing sporty outfits like joggers and a baseball cap, which Summer points out, she probably borrowed from her older brothers. As Mary Anne lives a sheltered life with her widowed father, her outfits are much-more reserved with plaid dresses and turtlenecks. Like the books, Claudia is definitely the fashionista of the group with outfits as inventive as her art work. An NYC native, Stacey always looks sophisticated and chic with berets, topcoats, and a staple of black and white pieces in her wardrobe. On the flip side, Cali girl Dawn is much more relaxed with her looks, wearing flannel one day and a boho dress the next. When we were younger, we all found ourselves drawn to a specific character in the books, and you’ll definitely feel that way watching the new series. (I’m personally a mix between Claudia and Mary Anne myself.) As you dive into the series and fall in

8 Nineties-Approved High Cut Swimsuits to Rock This Summer

July 03, 2020 at 01:00PM If our Instagram feed is any indiction of trends (which we all know it is), the most major style of swimwear right now is the ’90s high cut silhouette. Bloggers and celebs have adopted hip-baring high cut swimsuits in all colours and prints for a few seasons now and it’s showing no sign of slowing down anytime soon. For those wary of the shape, the high cut hip flatters and elongates the leg to almost supermodel status. Let a hint of skin peek out on your hip while wearing a one-piece and jean shorts or show show off your lengthy legs with a high slit in your bathing suit cover up. Test drive one of these styles this long weekend but make sure to double up on sunscreen on the freshly exposed areas. Click though for our favourite high cut swimsuits:

Friday Faves

July 03, 2020 at 11:26AM Hi friends! Happy Friday! I hope you had a lovely week. It started off as a bit of a rough one over here – I was just feeling a bit overwhelmed and emotional about everything going on – but these two little monkeys have really lifted my spirits, even though they probably didn’t know I was in a funk. The Pilot was gone this week, so the girls and I enjoyed our slow mornings, did some baking and crafts, and swam every single day. P has been swimming more often without her puddle jumper, which is a huge deal! We’re still cranking away on redoing our bedroom. I ordered some new furniture from West Elm and figured I should list our furniture on Facebook Marketplace. I thought it would take a week or so to sell everything, but it was all sold and gone by that night. For now, we’re sleeping on our mattress on the floor. The new bedroom reveal post should be ready soon. (I think Bella is convinced we put the mattress on the floor purely for her convenience.) It’s time for the weekly Friday Faves party! This is where I share some of my favorite finds from the week and around the web. I always love to hear about your faves, too, so please shout out something you’re loving in the comments section below. Read, watch, listen: Hamilton is on Disney+ tonight and I CAN’T WAIT. Are you watching tonight? Throwback picture

Scared of Prints? Here’s the Masterclass on How to Wear Them

July 03, 2020 at 11:30AM When it comes to Instagram, I am a repeat offender. I know what I like and tend to stick to the accounts I love the most. One influencer that I always go back to over and over for fashion inspiration is Nnenna Echem. The stylist and fashion editor first entered my radar a couple of years ago, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Why? Well, she’s fearless when it comes to trying out new combinations of silhouettes or colours. But where she really shines is her ability to clash prints with bright colours like no one else. I decided to ask her what her best tips are and how she manages to pull it off every time.  “When I first started to wear prints I remember that I didn’t like to mix different prints at the same time. But that was because I didn’t have a connection between the different parts of the outfit, so it didn’t look put-together. Today I can wear several prints. If the prints or patterns in your outfit don’t match, then you have to make sure that the colours in your outfit do. When I say match, I mean that the colour combination should match (e.g., pink and lilac, and mint green and sky blue). You can wear a pastel-blue blazer with zebra prints with a pink leo print skirt because the colours go well together.” “The more you experiment with colours and prints, the more you learn and discover new combinations. You should definitely

No Sugar Cherry Crumble In A Jar (Gluten Free Too + Tastes Amazing!)

July 03, 2020 at 11:30AM Lucuma is a nutrient-dense sweetener that’s incredibly low in sugar and has a subtly maple-like flavor to it. Of all the sweeteners we’ve tried, it’s one of our favorite alternatives to white sugar for baking and provides an incredible source of antioxidants, dietary fiber, minerals and vitamins including beta-carotene and niacin. Here’s holistic nutritionist, Jennie Miremadi’s incredible summer dessert recipe using lucuma as a key ingredient… This gluten-free vegan crumble recipe was originally part of a summer picnic menu that was published in The Chalkboard two years ago. It has become one of my favorite desserts in large part because I love cherry, lucuma, and almond together — the combination is superb! If you’ve never tried lucuma, you’re in for a treat. The fruit is native to Peru, although in the U.S. you’ll typically find it in dried and powdered form. It’s flavor is a bit like butterscotch which makes it a delicious and decadent addition to so many desserts. Lucuma is also full of health benefits, like being rich in fiber, packed with vitamin C, and loaded with antioxidants called polyphenols. (We know that diets that are rich in polyphenols may help protect against heart disease, cancer, diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases). Since this recipe was originally published, I’ve made one tweak to it. I’ve found that maple sugar and lucuma are a beautiful compliment for each other, so I’ve substituted maple sugar for the coconut sugar used in the original recipe. MASON JAR MINI

I Searched the Sales, and These Are the Pieces You Need to See

July 03, 2020 at 06:53AM Unlike the January sales (which all start within a week of each other), the summer sales can be harder to keep track of. Their start dates will be staggered across the months, meaning you have to be more strategic. This month is big for sale shoppers and designer lovers, as MatchesFashion is dropping its prices. And there’s no forgetting the high-street brands, including Arket and Topshop, which have everything from boilersuits to summer dresses. Of course, we’re heading toward those cult buys we’ve spotted all over our Insta feeds so far this year, but we’re also picking the pieces you’ll still want to for many years to come. Yes, we mean Wandler bags and Arket tailoring. To help you navigate the often-confusing summer sale season, we’re alerting you when the big events start and pointing you to the best buys around. 5 Beauty-Obsessed Women on How They Keep Their Skin Looking Youthful

July 03, 2020 at 06:30AM There are few things I love more than talking to people about their beauty routines. I love to find out what cleansers people are using, what serums they swear by and what skincare secrets they have been sat on. Sure, I love hearing from lots of different people with lots of different skin types, but the people I love speaking to the most? Those with mature skin, but undeniably youthful complexions. You see, few things get people talking more passionately than the topic of skin ageing. And sure, we know that a huge amount of ageing is down to genetics, however, we can’t ignore the fact that there are a handful of women who appear to possess some sort of Benjamin Button–style gift. So in a bid to demystify this apparent anti-ageing phenomenon, I spoke to some of those most fresh-faced women in beauty to uncover their secrets. “At the age of 25, I didn’t even know what skincare was. But for the last 12 years or so, I have really been focusing on anti-ageing and glow-giving ingredients. I want to age well and good! Now, I always double cleanse in the morning and evening. I do also go for skin treatments, and I really recommend going to see a skin therapist who will give you a programme to fit your skin. It’s important to never skip your routine—not even when you fall asleep on the sofa after a few glasses of wine! My other top
