My notes for quarantine

  1. Use up all the travel sized beauty products – as sadly we won’t use them for a long time. And use them up before they expire. Usually we receive skincare some samples which we normally would only use when we are travelling. Out of all my travel sized products, 80% of them have been only used once or twice. So I decided to use them up.

  2. Set up a postive dress up code for working from home. For me, it is always the fitted outfit and elegent jewellery that make me feel up-lifting and professional at work. Same at home really. Instead of fitted dress, I have dug out all the fitted t-shirts and leggings as well as jewellery pieces either a bit “too much” for work (e.g. too chucky, too funcky, too shiny) or “too expensive” that I will not wear for day to day office work. I found two benfits out of this: a) I can always clearly see if I have gained “quarantine weights” everytime walk by my mirror. b) I can try two or three types of outfit (if I want) with different matching jewellery and take picutres of it for future reference.

  3. Build your own salon! Part 1: For lash extension lovers like us unfortunately we need to go back to fake lashes for a while now. They are obviously not as natural lash extension (especially when you use the super good quality ones from South Korea or Japan!) However, fake eye lashes are just good enough for doing it at home yourself and for Zoom Calls!

  4. Build your own salon! Part 2: Buy your own Gel Nail productsFinally we are going to (have to) do it yourself honey! (Out of all the beauty routine that we have that we never wanted to do it ourselves!) Here are the where you can find the whole package: Mylee – The Full Works Professional Gel Nail Polish LED Kit by Feelunique or Simply Nails Gel Polish Starter Set Kit UV LED Nail Lamp 9 Colours by Ebay

  5. Try out all your unboxed makeup, well, as many of them as possible. Do it now otherwise you will never unbox them. The good thing about trying them out now is that in your busy day to day schedule, it is always a bit risky to try out new products without absolute 100% confidence. And now, even if they are unsuitable or become a total desaster, you do not need to worry about people seeing it or you being “tortured” the whole day wanting to get rid of it asap. Put them on, act like normal typing on your screen, scrolling your mobile phone, sending couple of emails and messages, next time when you go to the bathroom, taking them off and do it in a relax way. – It won’t affect any of your plans!

  6. Shave, shave, and shave.  A lot of my friends have done IPL sessions to remove unwanted hair, however, a lot of them told me that they still need to shave at least on a weekly basis. The thing with going to a clinic for IPL sessions is that you normally buy a package of six or eight or ten sessions. There are always “missing bits” as each individual hair grow with different speed and your beautician would not use a microscope to check if they have captured every single pore that grows hair. Even if they want to help to achieve that goal! It would be embarrassing to do so, for most of the people. For you to manage work and look pretty everyday whilst needing to adhere to “shave, no wax”, “no skin product no fake tan for the session”, it is a quite a lot! You also do not want to miss your sessions. Philips Lumea IPL Prestige is the most popular home use IPL hair remover. It claims up to 6 Months Hair Free‎ and 92% Hair Reduction in 3 Treatments.  It is always difficult to start, we have at least 4-6 weeks to be at home, why don’t we start now with a written down schedule that fits your own timetable and achieve this goal – 6 Months Hair Free‎. There are two extra features that I like about Phillips Lumea: a) They have an App guiding, tracking and reminding you with the procedure and progress. Very user friendly. b) they offer 30 days return guarantee and 2 year warranty on electricals.

  7. There are a lot of Apps and services have gone free. For fitness, cooking and nutrition, beauty consultation, dating, music and films etc. It is a way of saying thank you to the front line workers and a way of helping people stay home stay active. Of course, it’s a marketing tool, inevitably, for a lot of the brands – yes, they need to make money eventually to pay for the staff. Google what you like to do and add “free apps” at the end and let it run the magic. PS, make sure you delete your “Free Trial” after a month or a week if you don’t think the money you are going to pay reoccurring will be worthwhile – ask yourself, do I need this now and in the future after I get back to the busy life?
