This Is How You Should Really Be Using Your Facial Roller

May 29, 2020 at 06:30AM As we all seem to be taking a little more time with our skincare routines at the moment, the lengths to which we will go for great skin are increasing. From skin peels and sheet masks to spot treatments and retinols, if a product promises glowing, healthy-looking skin, we want in. With that being said, there are some products that we require a little more persuasion on before we part with our hard-earned cash. One of those products is facial rollers. As we find ourselves with a little more time on our hands, we’ve noticed an increase in the number of people Boomeranging themselves using a facial roller on Instagram Stories. But besides looking pretty and feeling good, does anyone know what they claim to do, and more importantly, how we’re actually supposed to use them? To help save any confusion and to make sure you’re really getting the most out of your rolling session, keep scrolling for everything you need to know.   Coming in a variety of shapes and sizes, facial rollers themselves can range from crystal cylinders and metal balls right through to ridged wheels and icy tubes. The roller you’re probably most familiar with, however, is the traditional jade or quartz roller thanks to its abundant social media coverage. And although the pretty jade rollers of Instagram might seem like a new fad, they’ve actually been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years. The theory went that rolling crystals across your skin could help

Out of All of the French Skincare Brands, This One Is by Far the Most Underrated

May 29, 2020 at 06:30AM When it comes to French skincare, I’m all in. Any product that promises to give that naturally radiant, smooth-as-butter, signature French complexion goes straight in my basket. And the truth is, while so many skincare products fail to live up to my (albeit exceptionally high) expectations, French brands just seem to get it right every single time. My skin is sensitive but prone to congestion and excess oil on my T-zone, and trying to find products that strike a healthy balance between purifying and non-aggressive has always been tough. For years, I have relied on French skincare brands such as La Roche-Posay and Bioderma to keep my skin from either breaking out in blackheads or breaking out in red irritation. With help from La Roche-Posay’s expert-approved Toleriane range and Bioderma’s Sébium, I have always managed to keep things in check. But not so long ago, I realised that in all of my attempts to keep my skin from flaring up, it had lost its glow. It was clear and even, sure, but it lacked a certain je ne sais quoi. I needed some form of lightweight hydration to inject some life back into my tired complexion, so I started phasing in different moisturisers and serums. While some turned my skin red and sore, most broke me out. Until I remembered an old classic from, you guessed it, another French skincare brand. In the depths of my cupboard, I pulled out a long-forgotten bottle of Vichy Minéral 89 Serum (£25). Lightweight, cooling

I’m a Beauty Editor, and This Is the Skincare Brand I Always Come Back To

May 29, 2020 at 06:30AM I’d like to preface this piece by saying that actually, despite all of my moaning, my skin isn’t naturally that terrible. Sure it’s prone to sensitivity, plagued with blackheads and showing some serious signs of sun damage in areas, but all in all, it’s really not that ghastly to look at. Providing I haven’t done anything to annoy it, if you squint or are stood a few metres away, my skin will likely look pretty smooth and clear. The issue is, though, that as a beauty editor, I am doing things that annoy my skin all too often. Whether it’s trying out a retinol that is just too strong or chopping and changing my routine in a bid to trial all of the new launches, there’s no doubt in my mind that the main causes of my skin issues are down to my job. So with that being said, it will come as no surprise that sadly, I rarely have the opportunity to spend a great deal of time using the products that both my skin and I absolutely love. With one exception, of course. No matter how jam-packed my skincare shelf is with products that need testing and trialling, I always manage to make the space for my go-to Sunday Riley products. In fact, I’ve convinced myself that if I don’t use them whenever I can, my skin will go into some sort of withdrawal-induced meltdown. (It probably won’t, but I’m not willing to test the theory.) Last Year’s Cult Trainer Brand Has Created the Coolest Style for 2020

May 29, 2020 at 06:17AM Chunky, practical and decidedly “unsexy” dad trainers are the fashion trend no one saw coming. After Balenciaga’s Tripe Ss and Louis Vuitton’s Archlights, in 2019 it was the Alexander McQueen trainers that became popular with the street style set. Thanks to Lyst, a global fashion search platform, we discovered that it was Alexander McQueen’s oversized sole trainers that hit the top spot on the “hottest women’s products” for 2019. These chunky sneakers were searched for every two minutes on the e-commerce platform. And now there’s a new pair of sneakers from the brand that we’ve got our eye on.  The latest sneakers are still chunky in sole but are high top canvas iterations. They come in a plain white, khaki and a black—almost like a boot-trainer hybrid. With their chunky soles and unadorned finish, they’re the perfect sneakers to wear with everything from tailored trousers to floaty midi dresses. Scroll down to shop the new style and if you’re a stickler for the original then keep going for those. Style Notes: Need a way to dress down a floral frock? Just add box-fresh sneakers.  Style Notes: A pair of chunky trainers are the perfect accessory to an all-black outfit. May 29, 2020 at 06:04AM From Jennifer Aniston to Gwyneth Paltrow and Naomi Campbell to Kate Moss, the It girls of the nineties had a very particular style. Featuring round-frame sunglasses, faded blue denim, shrunken knit cardigans and of course, excessively thin eyebrows the era can often be remembered for a less is more aesthetic. Ironically, many of the decade’s more minimalist trends still take up prominence in our wardrobes today and (thin eyebrows aside). I can confidently say I’d sport any of the aforementioned looks. And this summer, in particular, I foresee myself living in the timeless style. Often featuring a flattering, décolletage-baring square neckline and simple bias-cut silhouette, the style is not only easy to wear, but its also versatile enough to transition across many occasions. You can pull off this look whether you’re working from home or want to elevate your weekend picnic look.  With countless ’90s outfit inspiration pictures available online (and a few below) spanning red carpets moments and enviably cool events, there’s never been a better time to re-create these iconic looks. Keep scrolling for some slip-dress style inspiration and shop 2020’s best iterations below.  Style Notes: With thin shoulder straps and a thigh-high side split, Naomi Campbell’s stylish slip dress could easily pass as something made in 2020.  Style Notes: Bucking the minimalist trend and opting for a chevron stripe makes this Drew Barrymore look even

These At-Home Hair Tips Are So Effective Your Stylist Won’t Know You Cheated

May 29, 2020 at 05:09AM Okay, here’s the tea. We’re not necessarily condoning cutting your hair at home, and, quite honestly, we don’t want you to cheat on your hairdresser. Not only will hair experts everywhere be incredibly dependent on your business once stay-at-home orders begin to relax, but there’s also a large margin for error your stylist would really rather you avoid altogether. (There’s a reason they’re the experts, after all.) That said, since no one seems entirely sure when, exactly, we’ll be able to run back into the arms and chairs of our colourists and stylists, and since our hair has this annoying little habit of, well, growing, an at-home haircut might at some point become necessary. (Even if it’s solely for the sake of preserving your sanity.) We don’t want you to walk into the abyss of at-home hair maintenance without ample support, so I reached out to my own hair hero (celeb hairstylist and co-founder of 454 North Salon Cervando Maldonado in Los Angeles) to get all of his and a few fellow stylists’ best at-home hair tips in one spot. Fear not—their easy-to-follow dos and don’ts totally have your back until you’re able to come back in. So without further ado… “One thing you can do at home that doesn’t cost a lot of money and will help keep your ends healthy is to do an organic coconut or organic avocado oil mask,” suggests Maldonado.  “Apply a generous amount of the oil to dry hair, from ends to roots. Demi Lovato Posted Steamy Selfies With Max Ehrich, but All I Can Stare at Is Her Swimsuit

May 29, 2020 at 05:17AM You’re probably already aware that Demi Lovato knows how to take a good pool selfie, but this time, her boyfriend Max Ehrich joined in on the fun. The singer recently posted a series of romantic Instagram photos with her new beau, and while I am all about their budding romance, I also can’t stop thinking about how badly I need Demi’s swimsuit. The sweetheart neckline coupled with ruching made for a flattering yet sexy one-piece suit, which is exactly what I’m looking for in my summer wardrobe. Not to mention, a little extra coverage is always a plus in my book. Demi paired the simple suit with red sunglasses and matching nails for quite the sexy poolside look.
