Trust Me—These High-Street Beauty Products Smell as Good as Any Luxury Ones
June 02, 2020 at 11:00AM You might already know Arket as the place to find chic but generally inexpensive basics. The high-street store, launched in 2017 by the H&M group, has cornered the market on offering a minimalist dream with a Scandinavian edge. The pieces are trend-led and therefore manage to stay true to current looks, yet they’ll also tick the box of being classic staples for seasons and years to come. What you might not know is that Arket is also a great place to go for beauty products. It doesn’t have a huge range, but what it does offer, it does well. Available in its collection are hand balm, hand lotion, body lotion, body wash, hand wash and scented candles in a variety scents, including vetiver (my personal favourite), geranium, oakmoss, neroli, and rosemary—all of which smell way more expensive than the price point. I’m a Beauty Editor, and Here are the Summer Skincare Swaps I’m Making Right Now
June 02, 2020 at 06:30AM I am, for lack of a better phrase, a total sun worshipper. It’s not that I’m addicted to tanning or anything (trust me, sun-induced premature ageing means I am slathered in factor 50 all summer long), it’s just that I really love the heat. As someone that lives in London where we spend the majority of the year wrapped up in waterproof jackets, fighting broken brollies and wearing down the soles of heavy duty boots, the laid-back, carefree nature of summer gets me excited. And I think it might have finally arrived. With the mercury finally hitting 20+, I have flung open the windows, pulled out the fan, packed away my knits and pulled out my dresses and shorts. However, my wardrobe is not the only area where I have been making substitutes. As the heat from the sun gets more intense and the days become more humid, I’ve also had to make some changes to my skincare line up. You see, the summer brings with it a whole new bunch of skin issues. Whereas in the winter our routines are usually all about moisture and combatting irritation, come summer, our attention tends to turn towards sun protection, oil production and exfoliation. So, sat cross-legged on my bathroom floor last night, I started whittling down my product in an attempt to fine tune my skincare routine for the summer ahead. Keep scrolling to see what products I decided to keep hold of, the ones I have stashed away for winter
This Over-40 French Woman Is My New Style Inspiration
June 02, 2020 at 06:24AM If I had to choose two items to wear for the rest of my life, I’d most likely pick a pair of jeans and Converse. The thing is, how many ways can you make denim and a pair of sneakers look fresh? While I could come up with more than a few ideas, I like to look to the experts for interesting ensembles. Enter: Valerie Tribes, a French journalist I follow on Instagram, and whose love of Converse and jeans is just one reason to start saving her outfit ideas. Other looks she’s particularly good at wearing include the classic denim shirt, trench coats and classic Chanel slingbacks. The beauty in her style is that it’s just so French. It’s not overdone, it’s not overly fussy—it’s simple but chic. Ready to see some of her best looks? Keep scrolling, and then shop her key pieces. These 5 Colours Are the Key to an Expensive-Looking Summer Wardrobe
June 02, 2020 at 06:06AM Right now, London S/S 20 fashion week—which took place last September—probably feels like a distant memory. It was back before the term social distancing was used in our daily vernacular and the need to strategically plan a once-a-day walk was an absolute necessity. When the thought of crowded rooms filled with editors and influencers seemed completely normal, and hugs and handshakes were just regular friendly greetings. However, despite the fact those runways feel a world away, many of their lessons are more relevant today than ever. From colour predictions to clothing trends, September’s collections acted as a crystal ball, enabling us to understand what would be most in-demand over the next few months. In terms of colour, the runways were filled with a mixture of calming sky blues and shades of shocking pink. (You can thank JW Anderson for the former and Jacquemus for the latter.) Of course, as you’d expect with any summer runway, crisp white and sandy beige were also heavily prevalent, seen across voluminous dresses, linen shirts and tailored trousers. While less popular on the runway, lime green has also proven itself to be a contender for shade of the season, as several members of the fashion set have recently been seen sporting the summery hue. So whether you’re looking to update your existing colour palette, or simply feel the need to be in the know, keep scrolling for five shades you’re about to see everywhere this summer. You can thank Simon Porte Jacquemus for the popularity
