Mango’s Summer Collection Is Here and We Only Want to Show You the Best Bits

April 22, 2020 at 06:00AM Compared to previous years, we wouldn’t exactly call this the most typical spring, and if we’re honest, we’re not really sure what summer will bring either. But whether you’re WFH or heading out for your usual 9-to-5, trying to save the pennies or looking for a new season pick-me-up, we hope we can bring you a bit of fashion-based escapism in the form of delectable dresses, chic accessories and anything-but-boring basics. Luckily, Mango’s summer collection is here and it’s stuffed full of new season inspo and feel-good styles to get you going on your warm weather wardrobe. We know not everyone will be in the position to invest in newness, but we’ll also be using the new season drops as a way to reinvigorate old favourites and experiment with new pairings. Mango in particular is great with its e-commerce styling, so make sure to check out the model shots for outfit ideas. Personally, I’m keeping my eye out for minimalist separates that will stand the test of time—whatever the year throws at me. I’m thinking Mango’s wrap leather jacket, which I’ll layer over a tank top and jeans or a white jumpsuit for easy WFH style. Or, for a hit of print, I’ll be looking to the brand’s smocked midis and floral shirts. Ready? Scroll down to see my full edit. Style Notes: A pair of floral trousers will add a retro twist to basic tops this summer.  Style Notes: The fashion crowd is officially

9 Women on the Outfit That Always Makes Them Feel Confident

April 22, 2020 at 05:07AM It’s hard to dispute the transformative power of clothes. Whether it be a perfectly tailored suit or a particularly flattering skirt, what you wear can unquestionably have an impact on the way you feel. The right dress can give you the confidence to own the dance floor, while the perfect gym kit can have you feeling unstoppable during a workout. Although some might think it sounds frivolous, wearing clothes you love can do wonders for your mood and confidence. And now more than ever, it’s important to continue to do the things that put a smile on your face. With this in mind, I set out to discover the kind of clothes that have the ability to empower us, asking nine stylish women which outfits make them feel most confident. As you’d expect, each woman had an entirely unique answer, from flowing dresses to power suits and vintage finds. Evidently, confidence comes in many forms, and as you’ll discover below, it’s completely unique for everyone. “The outfits that make me feel the most confident are the spicy ones. You know, the less obvious pairings that give you a thrill. For me, seeing clothes as a fun and spontaneous expression of yourself matters. I mean, I know we’re inside a lot at the moment, but for my savoured grocery store sojourns, I’ve been kitting up in some of my favourite designer dresses (ones I would normally be saving for special occasions only!) and paring them with

I Looked Through 3947 Items in the Matches Sale—These Are My Favourites

April 21, 2020 at 11:12AM MatchesFashion just launched its midseason sale, with 30% off many of our most-loved brands such as Shrimps, Ganni and Self-Portrait. It currently has 3947 items listed under this offer, which translates into hours of pressing “Next Page” if you wanted to look through it all. We have combed through all of the shoes, dresses, accessories and more to bring you a concise edit of the best offers we saw. Our main shopping advice is always to buy things that will fit within your own wardrobe, love for years (it’s best to avoid fads) and will actually wear. Simple, we know, but this advice is more important when shopping in the sales. Instead of focusing on the reductions and what a great deal something is, it’s more important to consider whether this is something that is actually missing from your wardrobe. In the sale, we’ve found lots of classic items that will act as building blocks in your wardrobe, such as Emma Willis shirts and Alighieri necklaces. With weddings and holidays on-hold, there’s notably more formal dresses and new-in bikinis in the sale than usual for this time of year. Many people in the industry use the sales primarily to buy things for the next year, rather than shopping for the season we’re in. Highlights include a Self-Portrait powder-blue midi dress, Shrimps’ cult pearl hair clips and straw hats from the new brand Avenue the Label. To receive the discount, just enter code MID30 at checkout. Next up,

I’m Only Wearing Dresses This Week, and It’s Making Me Happy

April 24, 2020 at 07:50PM After reading about people opting to wear comfortable and stylish dresses while they work from home as a way to change up the routine of reaching for cute loungewear, I became intrigued. Would that feel weird or liberating? Wearing a dress while staying indoors may seem unnecessary, but it doesn’t have to feel fussy or silly. If you find dresses that are just as comfortable as wearing matching sweats or soft t-shirts I’d argue that it’s a much easier way to get dressed. Old Navy has hundreds of stylish dresses right now – many of which are of the throw-on-and-go variety – so we went ahead and rounded up some easy pieces. Though I’ll always be a loungewear girl at heart, I switched things up this week and wore as many dresses as I could. It’s been easier than ever to get dressed in the morning and completely changing my mood! I caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror the other day and ended up putting on lipstick just for the heck of it. If you’re shopping for a few new pieces, I’ve highlighted my favorites. My Current Favorite Dresses Are All Under $50, But You’d Never Know It

April 24, 2020 at 07:11PM Ask anyone who sees me on a regular basis, and they’ll tell you I almost exclusively wear dresses when the weather allows it. The honest reason is that they’re the easiest item to throw on while still looking put-together. I also find dresses to be one of the most comfortable options when the weather takes a turn for the hot and sticky, especially in comparison to my other go-to: denim. Not that you necessarily needed further convincing, but I’m definitely not the only one on the daily dress-wearing train. Besides loungewear, I almost exclusively scroll through dress outfits on my Instagram feed. Currently, I’ve got my eyes on Niké Ojekunle, a Nigerian-born and L.A.-based fashion and skincare blogger who tells me her polished style is loosely inspired by Old Hollywood. She also tells me that some of my recent favorite looks from her feed are shoppable at Walmart, which means they’re surprisingly affordable, not that you’d ever be able to tell. Shop her two favorite current looks below (including some excellent sandals), as well as seven more under-$50 dress picks. Ojekunle and I are on the same page when it comes to warm weather style. “I love wearing dresses year round but especially during spring and summer because it allows for easy breeziness,” she tells me. Laugh at the cliché if you must, but it’s so true. I never spend more than 15 minutes on my dress outfits, and I always get the most compliments on them. Her first choice is a short-sleeve eyelet option that has a

On a Budget? Here’s Our Best Affordable Fashion and Beauty Picks of the Month

April 24, 2020 at 05:00PM Welcome to On the Hunt, a monthly series in which we open the floor (or should we say DMs?) to our Instagram followers to ask their most burning fashion and beauty questions. We’ll select up to five inquiries to answer and offer our advice with shopping picks to match. It’s safe to say that most of us have adjusted our budgets and spending habits in the last month or so and have become more thoughtful than ever about practicality, cost per wear, and categorizing items into needs vs wants. But spending less money doesn’t necessarily have to be a dramatic sacrifice. If we shift our perspectives a bit, shopping smarter can actually be a fun challenge of finding the best items on the internet for the best prices. So whether it’s affordable trends, skincare, basics, or loungewear we’re currently on the hunt for—it just takes a little Internet research to find the best items, which of course is exactly what we’ve done here. Not to make things overly tempting, but these price-conscious items are seriously good. We never knew how much loungewear we needed in our closets until we spent so much time at home. There are so many on-trend options out there right now at all different price points, but don’t worry, we found some seriously stylish and affordable pieces. Want the matching sweats? Say no more. These Reformation shorts won’t last long. A pop of pink makes putting on loungewear feel significantly more fun. Tie-dye biker shorts is

From the Archives: Sophie Grégoire Trudeau on the March 2017 Cover of FASHION

April 24, 2020 at 05:15PM “If you were a yoga pose, which one would you be?” I ask Sophie Grégoire Trudeau. We’re midway into our second interview for this feature, and she has just finished describing the thrill of barefooting—which is waterskiing without skis. “You have to be at high speeds, and when you fall, it’s like falling on cement,” she says. “It’s rough, but the sensation is amazing when you’re on your feet.” She tells me that her other athletic pursuits venture from fairly calm (cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and tennis) to borderline extreme (skydiving, ice climbing and underwater diving with her husband, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau). Her less extreme adventures include yoga and pranayama (controlling the breath). So, back to the pose that best describes this certified hatha yoga instructor’s character. “That’s a funny question!” she says, laughing. “It’s tempting to say the wheel with one leg up [Eka Pada Chakrasana] because it’s just so heart opening, but I think the Baddha Konasana, or sitting pose, is the most challenging one for me because I have to be seated, calm, relaxed and focused.” I’m not sure whether asanas, or poses, reveal one’s character, but it’s not surprising to me that Grégoire Trudeau would excel at the one-legged wheel pose. I imagine there’s a certain extroverted rush from mastering that move, and I’m getting the sense that Grégoire Trudeau embraces her extroversion like metal shavings to a magnet. “I’m an only child,” she explains. “I was taught to go toward

Why Christian Siriano Is Making Medical Masks in Color: “It Helps Us Get Through the Day”

April 24, 2020 at 02:54PM Christian Siriano’s impressive team has now shipped over 10,000 masks to medical workers on the front lines fighting the coronavirus crisis, and his good friend Kelly Clarkson hopped on a video call with him for a candid interview about the process. Siriano was in his New York City office space at the time, and he elaborated on how wildly different the task at hand feels, especially since his sewers are used to creating couture dresses: “It’s wild. After I tweeted at the governor and they responded, they gave us permission to open my office with a small team. My sewers are couture sewers, and now they’re making masks. It’s quite monotonous work, and it’s the same thing over and over again. In the beginning, we were only making white masks, but then I was like, ‘We need to have color.’ We’ve done almost 15,000 masks, and your eyes are bulging out from looking at the same thing. It’s hard to make quality control when you don’t have a mask factory.” Christian has been posting nonstop on Instagram about his team’s tireless efforts and also inviting followers to make donations through his website. Siriano, whose Instagram feed has always been a rainbow’s worth of colors, is now keeping up with his true sense of style in more ways than one. While we’re seeing fewer posts of floor-sweeping gowns exploding in color, it brightens our day just as much to see piles of medical masks in color

Kate Middleton Just Wore the One Dress Brand We Are Obsessed With

April 24, 2020 at 01:48PM In the ’90s, Ghost was one of the first places you’d visit when looking for a new dress, as its silky slip dresses were the height of cool. However, the brand gradually became seen as a destination for pastel bridesmaid frocks and occasion-wear only. But Ghost has become cool again over the past year or so, thanks to a reboot of its button-front tea dresses and silky midi dresses. And our team, like the many influencers we follow on Instagram, are all in agreement that this is now one of the very best places to snap up a quality dress in 2020. And it turns out Kate Middleton also agrees, as yesterday she wore a blue floral £90 Marley dress to stand outside her home with the family and clap for our carers. This clip was shown on The Big Night In on BBC, and unsurprisingly the dress almost instantly sold out. Kate’s dress is in a powdery blue shade, and the rest of the family is also wearing blue, which feels like a deliberate nod to the colour of the NHS.  Ghost has repositioned itself as one of those labels you see all over your Instagram feeds. The dresses all have a similar aesthetic, with midi lengths, bold floral prints and a use of vibrant colours. Keep scrolling to see how our team and influencers share their own Ghost pieces; then shop our edit of the best ones. Style Notes: Who What Wear’s Hannah wears the gorgeous satin Ayla dress. Match
