April 28, 2020 at 04:05PM It’s a bit of a strange time for everyone right now, but if you’re graduating this year, all we can say is, we feel you. Whether your school is choosing to have a virtual graduation or indefinitely postponing your ceremony, you might not be in a cap and gown this year, so it’s all the more reason to find a dress you love and put it on. Even if your only audience is your family, getting dressed up can still provide some serious joy, and hey, you might even feel like putting on some makeup and snapping an Instagram pic to document the occasion. We found 30 styles that will make you smile. If you were excited about wearing a white dress for graduation, we found plenty of pretty options, but if you feel like going for a color or print, we’ve got you covered, too. We’ve also heard some people say they wish they could’ve worn black to their graduation, and if that sounds like you, go for it. Since celebrations might look a little different this year, we say, go ahead and pick out your new favorite dress. The best part is, you can wear it over and over again. 10 British Brands We Are Championing This Year—and Beyond
April 28, 2020 at 06:12AM Given that so much has changed across the world over the last two months, here at Who What Wear we decided to ask our readers what they wanted to see more of in this ever-evolving climate. From stories on loungewear to work from home outfit ideas, our readers responded with varying answers about what still feels relevant to them today and of course, we have tried to deliver on each and every request. Though throughout all the emails and comments we received one thing was clear, people are yearning to know more about how to support British-designed brands. Several readers wrote in and explained they’d like us to highlight a few more UK-based brands, so today we’re doing just that. From Ghost, to Kitri, Rixo and Shrimps, the UK is home to a wealth of talent, particularly when it comes to contemporary labels with their own unique flair. Each of the brands listed below has an instantly recognizable aesthetic to cater to their individual customer. So whether you know them all, or you’re reading about them for the first time today, here are 10 British brands we think deserve your attention. Founded by Haeni Kim in 2017, Kitri has experienced so much success in its few short years. Loved by influencers and editors, the brand offers floaty feminine dresses and distinctive smile-inducing prints you’ll want to wear time and again. After graduating from Central Saint Martins and gaining experience at Roksanda, Rejina Pyo launched her eponymous label
Why Your Lingerie Drawer Needs a Winter-to-Summer Changeover, Too
April 28, 2020 at 06:00AM I didn’t mean to become the unofficial lingerie correspondent for Who What Wear, but somehow I seem to write about boobs a lot. It’s not that I don’t love underwear, I do, just as much as the next person, but it’s more to do with how much my own lingerie needs have changed over the years, specifically when it comes to bras. From wedding prep to being a runner, as well as pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and post-pregnancy, my bra size has run the gamut. Not only have I spent a lot of time trying various bras on, but I’ve also spent a lot of time chatting with the experts on what makes a great bit of lingerie. Today, I’m turning my attention to summer lingerie. Yep, it’s a thing. I mean, of course, it is. Come summer, you’ll end up wearing less clothing and items that are made of less material. Gone are longer sleeves, and in their place will be strappy slip dresses, sleeveless tops, and perhaps a backless blouse. This means that you’re likely to need underwear that works for this seasonal shift in your wardrobe. While I might have some expertise in finding new bras for your shape, I always speak to experts when it comes to understanding trends and what to look out for. I spoke to Georgia Larsen, the founder of one of my favourite British lingerie brands, Dora Larsen. The label specialises in cool brightly coloured (but importantly, not garish) pieces. And as it consistently nails
This Is How the Coolest Minimalists Are Dressing Now
April 28, 2020 at 04:08AM More than ever, the fashion industry has become one defined by binaries. On the one hand, you have the “throw everything at it” maximalists, many of whom only exist on our Instagram feeds and immortalised on the pavements of fashion week—an aesthetic spearheaded by the likes of Alessandro Michele at Gucci and Demna Gvasalia at Balenciaga. On the other hand, you have those who are rejecting the noise and clamour of clashing prints and accessory overload and instead embracing a more contemplative approach. Yes, it is minimalism, but not as you know it. Minimalism is an aesthetic that has simmered beneath the surface for decades, occasionally bubbling-up and making its presence felt, but never really disappearing entirely. From Coco Chanel’s sporty separates and Calvin Klein’s ‘90s greyscale to Phoebe Philo’s austere, post-financial crash stylings at Celine, it’s one of the few fashion movements that has transcended multiple generations. Bottega Veneta runway spring/summer 2020. Over the last few seasons, it has become clear that minimalism is having another moment in the spotlight. And more than ever, shoppers want pieces that last—not just for budget reasons but for ethical and sustainable fashion purposes too. Two fashion houses have spearheaded this new minimalism—The Row and Bottega Veneta. And both brands have given us a new appreciation of minimalism for 2020. “Approaching each season, we look to our six muses; the fashion pioneer, the warrior, the free spirit, the curator, the romantic and the purist,” explains Natalie Kingham, buying director at MatchesFashion. “The Purist opts for minimalist style with a
35 Iconic 1980s Fashion Moments We Never Want to Forget
April 28, 2020 at 02:22AM When it comes to ’80s fashion, we have a (surprising) amount to be thankful for. While the decade previously hadn’t influenced our wardrobes for a long time, in recent years, we’ve come to the realisation that all the most current trends today are courtesy of the ’80s. Now, if you’re not too familiar with the nuances of this era, there are a few standout looks we’re sure you’ll recognise: big shoulders, white jeans, underwear as outerwear and oversized jewellery. It was the decade of the power dresser but also of punks. It gave us Madonna, Tina Turner and Cher, plus numerous other superstars whose sense of style influences many right now. Don’t believe us? From the fact that Princess Diana’s archive is inspiring some of the world’s most influential designers to the more basic resurgence in women wearing blazers with jeans again, we’ve found 35 A-list images that prove these ’80s fashion looks are as current now as they were then. Keep scrolling to click through our gallery of iconic ’80s outfits. Style Notes: This is classic ’80s Madonna, but the underwear/bodysuit look is bang on the money for now. You can forgo the pearls—just wear yours with some high-waisted jeans for a night out. Style Notes: As if we needed any more proof that Cher is the ultimate style queen, here was the star doing the naked dress before everyone was doing it at the Met Gala (and every other award show going). Style Notes: Brooke Shields was America’s number

Wanna Impress Alexander Wang? The Designer Is Hosting a DIY T-Shirt Contest on Instagram
April 27, 2020 at 11:45PM Alexander Wang has issued a call to get creative. The designer recently announced the launch of a new contest encouraging Instagram users to customize classic white t-shirts using supplies at home. Chosen by May 1, the winner will then receive a personalized care package valued at $1,000! The contest comes shortly after Alexander and Behati Prinsloo made their own edgy t-shirts using scissors and safety pins during an Instagram Live over the weekend. “Now that you’ve seen a few tricks from us, we’d like to see what you can do at home,” Alexander said in a video introducing the contest.
