March 07, 2019 at 12:44PM by CWC Sustainability is one of the most important movements permeating popular culture today, particularly fashion. And the wave of designers embracing eco-friendly, ethical, socially responsible practices is starting to swell. You can now find cool options for everything from vegan shoes to sustainable activewear, luxe-looking purses made from leather alternatives, sneakers (like these chic French ones made from corn waste), jeans, and ready-to-wear—with a lot of the coolest brands coming out of Cali, btw. Given how much the sustainable fashion market has grown over the past few seasons, it’s unsurprising that there are more options than ever when it comes to sustainable swimwear. Major sportswear brands like Adidas and Athleta continue to expand their ethical offerings and introduce innovative new fabrics made from recycled materials and focused on performance. Then there are the indie, boutique labels that are showing that being eco-friendly and elevated aren’t mutually exclusive objectives, as evidenced by the minimalist maillots from brands like Lacausa and Reformation—plus, the playful suits from lines like Mara Hoffman. Scroll down to see what we mean and shop the sustainable swimwear sure to make a big splash this season. 1. Hyaluronic acid-rich balms sent my chapped lips packing like none other
March 06, 2019 at 10:06AM by CWC In order to keep my skin plump and hydrated, I slather on hyaluronic acid like it’s my job (I mean, it is: I’m a beauty editor). The all-star ingredient is found in everything nowadays, from serums to moisturizers to skin-friendly foundations. The molecule holds 1,000 times its weight in water, which pretty much makes it a cool drink of water for skin. Lately, I’ve been seeing hyaluronic acid pop up in a wider range of beauty products. The one I’m most excited about? Lip balms. The other day, I slathered on a brand-new Kosas lip balm, thinking nothing of it—that it’d simply moisturize my lips like any other balm that I use. But this one was different. Rather than just do its job of hydrating, it truly felt like it was injecting moisture into my lips that lasted for a much longer time than usual, compared to other lip balms. And, as you guessed, that’s all because it’s packed with my queen: hyaluronic acid. “Hyaluronic acid gives similar benefits to your lips as it does for your skin,” says Joshua Zeichner, MD, a board-certified dermatologist in New York City. “It is a humectant, which means that it binds to water to pull in hydration to the skin on the lips.” When I rub my lips together as they’re rocking the all-powerful HA ingredient, they feel moisturized and plump. I don’t want to be the only person walking around with hyaluronic acid on my lips, though.

Cancel the facial: Amazon’s line of brand-new 5-minute face masks are *that* good
March 05, 2019 at 11:09AM by CWC If I had to make up a wish list for my dream beauty products, there would be a few key things on it. Ideally, it’d be easy to get—like, Amazon Prime easy—full of safe ingredients, and fast acting. Oh, and the most ideal thing of all? The beauty products would be super affordable. Well, I think Will Smith’s genie has gotten a head start on his job, because my wishes have been granted: FBC, short for Fast Beauty Co, launched today with a line of 5-minute masks and micellar wipes sold exclusively on Amazon for under 15 dollars. At the launch this morning in New York’s Soho neighborhood, I met with the sister-model-influencer duo Simona and Diana Kubasova, who wanted to create a skin-care line that’s not only cute (case in point: each mask is Instagram friendly and flecked with gold) but also convenient for women on the go. As in, who only have five minutes to spare for a face mask to do its job. And so they worked with celebrity dermatologist Dhaval Bhanusali, MD to concoct sheet masks that utilize ingredients like honey comb (for hydration), hyaluronic acid (for even more hydration), and rosemary (to clarify), among many others that will effectively penetrate your skin in the time it takes to brew a coffee. There are several lines within the brand, including the Clarity Collection, which is for breakouts and uses charcoal to detoxify, the Dive-In Collection for hydrating purposes (yep, it

How to choose which crystal facial roller is right for your skin and your energy
February 26, 2019 at 09:32AM by CWC Crystal rollers might just be the chicest way to boost your skin. Not only do they make the most beautiful vanity décor—when they’re not chilling in the freezer, of course—but they also come with plenty of benefits for your face. But with so many different types available, how do you even know which one to choose? Despite using different crystals, jade, rose quartz, and amethyst rollers all seem like they do the same thing—and one expert says that’s generally pretty true. “In all honesty, the physical impact is very similar. It’s a hard, smooth surface that enables the user to roll and massage over the surface of the skin with a density that won’t crack too easily under heat,” says Abigail James, international facialist and skin-care expert. Because of their similarities in structure, you’ll notice beloved benefits from all of them, like de-puffing, increased blood circulation, improved skin elasticity, and lymphatic drainage. One major difference among rollers variety, though? Their spiritual healing properties. Since your skin can show improvements with each of the three options, your choice really comes down to choosing which crystal you want to introduce into your skincare routine. Here’s what you should know about each. 1. Jade rollers At this point, ultra-popular jade rollers are popping up just about everywhere. And there’s a lot of meaning behind that stunning green stone. “Jade is a happy stone that’s frequently used in the beauty industry globally, as well as in Chinese medicine,” James says. “It’s praised
CBD lipgloss exists, and TBH my lips have never been softer
February 24, 2019 at 07:01AM by CWC To say that I have tried CBD in literally every iteration available would be the understatement of 2019. I’ve added it to my morning routine with Daily Habit CBD Powder, my skin-care routine with like, 15 different products, and my bedtime routine with the Highline Wellness gummies that live on my nightstand. So when a set of CBD-infused lip glosses made their way across my desk, I had a tingling feeling that my makeup routine was the next frontier to get the official cannabidiol treatment. The lip glosses, from Saint Jane Beauty, are made with eight calming ingredients, including sunflower, jojoba, chamomile, grapefruit, and superstar CBD. They come in five shades ranging from bright pink to deep berry, all of which go on super-sheer with a hint of shimmer. “The idea is to microdose wellness moments throughout your day with small amounts of CBD,” says Saint Jane Beauty founder Casey Georgeson. “Many people carry their stress in their lips—imagine trying to smile while nervous—and Saint Jane is a glossy, silky, CBD-spiked way to incorporate wellness into your lip ritual.” As far as smiling through anxiety goes, well, #itme. So naturally, I decided to give these babies a try, and it was love at first swipe (AKA the opposite of how I currently feel about dating apps). Considering I grew up slathering my lips with Lancome Juicy Tubes ($19), I live for a glossy lip, and the Saint Jane glosses didn’t disappoint. They were the perfect combination of shimmer and
The more-is-more, high-tech facials to bookmark (for your complexion’s sake)
February 22, 2019 at 04:00AM by CWC When I first started booking facials, they were pretty straightforward: The esthetician would essentially slather my skin with a bunch of decadent beauty products, perhaps do some extractions, and voila—I’d be left with a glowy, hydrated, refreshed complexion. Lately, though? Facials have become multi-hyphenate experiences wherein the face is poked and needled and lit with LED lights to get a complexion boost. “By combining multiple modalities into one treatment, practitioners can enhance their clinical results and help their clients take the stress out of self care by maximizing their time,” says Stefanie DiLibero, founder of Gotham Wellness, a center that offers cosmetic acupuncture with add-ons like facial cupping, LED light treatment, and microcurrent stimulation. Facialist Ildi Pekar agrees, noting that “by utilizing effective natural techniques along with modern technology, we can provide results for common skin concerns and repair your glow with a customized nurturing experience.” I must admit I’ve had the thought during regular facials that I could mimic the same thing at home in my own bathroom—but because high-tech facials accelerate the the results you’re looking for (which isn’t exactly something you can do at home) I really feel like they’re a good way to get bang for your buck. “Adding on extra high-tech machines can help you achieve an accelerated and more long-lasting result,” says Pekar, who uses a plethora of add-ons from microcurrent machines (to tone) to oxygen therapy (to revitalize) and radio frequency (to tighten). “Adding on extra high-tech
