Livestrong: Can I Exercise After Dental Work?

JULIE BOEHLKE (Image: Stockbyte/Stockbyte/Getty Images) If exercise is a part of your daily life, you may be concerned about missing a few workouts. If you are having a dental procedure done, you will want to know how soon afterward you will be able to exercise and get back into your normal fitness routine. There are several things to consider after dental work such as the healing process and how you will feel from the medication or anesthesia from the procedure. Many dental procedures allow exercise within several days after surgery. VIDEO OF THE DAY https://imasdk.googleapis.com/js/core/bridge3.267.0_en.html#goog_988077010 Volume 0% Dental Procedures There is a broad spectrum of procedures you can have done at the dentist or oral surgeon’s office. These range from a mild cleaning to an extraction or root canal. If you have something that does not require a sedative or is non-invasive such as an oral exam or X-ray, you can exercise immediately afterward. If you have dental work done that involves removing teeth, gum or bone, you will want to follow your dentist’s instructions carefully. The main thing is not having your sutures or blood clot on the gums separate or dislodge – this can lead to further complications including infection. If you had a cap or crown on your teeth, you may want to hold off on strenuous exercise for three to five days following the procedure. Sedation Depending on your oral surgeon and what procedure you are having done, you may have to be sedated to reduce

Women Health Mag: 7 Things You Should Never Say to Someone with Herpes

By Ella Dawson Jul 23, 2015   I was diagnosed with herpes two years ago, and I can’t tell you how many offensive things people have said to me about it since then. I understand that many of these comments don’t come from a place of ill will; most people just have no effing clue what to say when someone tells them that they have herpes. While there’s no script for the perfect thing to say to someone who shares this very personal piece of information with you (just as there’s no Mad Libs-style formula for how to disclose to someone that you have herpes), there are certain remarks I would advise against—all of which are based on things that have been said to me time and time again. Here’s what someone with herpes can’t help but think the moment they hear this: Thank you so much for referring to my body as “gross.” That’s very kind and exactly what I need to hear in this vulnerable moment. Yes, the word “herpes” can elicit a yuck reaction somewhere deep in our gut. A combination of bad sex education and a powerful social stigma has convinced us that herpes is a revolting, extremely contagious disease. But in reality, herpes is manageable skin condition and a slight annoyance at most for the many millions of people who live with it. Try to quiet those hurtful snap judgments, and listen to the living, breathing human with emotions who is speaking to you. RELATED:

BBC story: I met my boyfriend 12 years after giving birth to his child

3 January 2019 When Jessica Share bought sperm from a sperm bank in order to start a family, she never imagined that more than a decade later she would meet the donor – and would feel a strong attraction to him. In 2005, when my eldest daughter was born, I became the first lesbian parent I had ever met. This was the American Midwest, and the only lesbians I’d heard about with children had usually given birth to them in a previous, heterosexual relationship. My girlfriend and I, however, had had to start from scratch. Ever since we’d met we had dreamed about having kids together. We decided on four and together we chose their names. The next step was more difficult. My girlfriend suggested her brother-in-law could help. He was receptive, but I took a gay and lesbian legal rights course offered by the college of law at my university, and quickly gave up on the idea of a known donor. Courts had been known to give them custody rights, calling their gift of sperm an act of parenting. When birth moms died, children were removed from their homes to be placed with men they barely knew. Luckily, we discovered a sperm bank that shipped right to our home, where the anonymous donors signed paperwork that legally barred them from ever seeking custody of the children they helped create. Because I was writing a doctoral dissertation at home, I would carry the first baby. We matched the donor to

Seed Cycling: The Trendiest (And Weirdest) Tool For Better Hormone Balance

November 15, 2018 at 12:20AM How to use seed cycling for better hormone balance, including how to get started, how it works, and why it helps with symptoms of PMS and other hormone imbalances. Continue Reading… Have you heard of seed cycling? It’s one of the best “food as medicine” tools for getting your cycle back on track, balancing your hormones, and making those period problems disappear. As a naturopathic doctor, women’s health expert, and author of the upcoming book Beyond the Pill, I frequently suggest seed cycling to my patients and even do it myself. Seed Cycling 101: Here’s what it can do for your hormone health. But how does it work—and who might want to try it out? One of the best things about seed cycling is that it can be beneficial at any stage in a woman’s life, but I often suggest it to women who are going through the process of coming off hormonal birth control as a way to get their natural cycle back and start improving their hormonal health naturally. I’ve seen women struggling with symptoms of PMS, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), post-birth control syndrome (PBCS), irregular periods, acne, and breast tenderness benefit from adding seed cycling to their routine. As I guide you in how to get started with seed cycling, I am going to reference a 28-day cycle. But please note, you may have a cycle that is longer or shorter. In fact, only a small percentage of women have 28-day cycles, so please don’t

Some started took matters into their own hands. Melanie Roven, a 29-year-old brand director in New York City, began stockpiling Plan B, an over-the-counter emergency birth control, early in Trump’s campaign for president, she told MarketWatch. “It was kind of a joke at first, but as he started forming policy ideas I realized I should actually do this,” she said. ‘This should be the end of a long and unnecessary culture war fight.’ —Mark Rienzi, president of The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty. Plan B has a shelf life of up to four years and retails for around $50. Roven now has five boxes sitting in her bathroom. (Another emergency birth control, Take Action, retails for $35.) Roven also got an intrauterine device (IUD) shortly after Trump’s election, a form of birth control that lasts from three to six years, out of concern for her future access to reproductive care. Prior to his election, Trump said women who seek abortions should receive “some form of
