Dead to Me: How Jen and Judy’s Wardrobes Mirror Their Polar-Opposite Personalities
May 21, 2020 at 12:01AM Dead to Me‘s leading ladies, Jen Harding and Judy Hale, are proof that opposites do, indeed, attract. The two characters couldn’t possibly be more different if they tried. Jen (portrayed by Christina Applegate) is a stern, often cynical widow who listens to scream-o music, tosses back wine as if it’s water, and drops f-bombs without flinching. Judy (played by Linda Cardellini), on the other hand, is an inherent optimist who always looks on the bright side, teaches arts and crafts at a nursing home, and forgives others like it’s her job. And yet, the women are two peas in a pod, bound by constant chaos, dark secrets, and a trust that knows no bounds. Jen and Judy’s clothing choices only further confirm the juxtaposition – Jen regularly opts for basics like button-up shirts and trousers, while Judy has a penchant for floral prints and feminine dresses – and these spot-on wardrobe decisions were all deliberately made by the show’s costume designer, Trayce Gigi Field. We chatted with Trayce about styling the outfits for Dead to Me‘s second season, and she revealed tons of juicy tidbits on tracking down the perfect pieces for the characters (hello, thifting tips!), which outfits fans are loving the most, and so much more. Get the full scoop ahead, and join us in praying for a third season so we can see even more of Trayce’s genius costume design work in action. Related: I Can't Be the Only One Obsessing Over

This One-Size-Fits-All Swimwear Brand Is Behind Pretty Woman’s Most Iconic Look
May 20, 2020 at 09:59PM There’s no way you haven’t seen Hunza G’s flattering crinkled swimsuits all over Instagram, but did you know there’s a connection to Pretty Woman? The brand, which was originally known as Hunza, was created by Peter Meadows in 1984. It had huge success, thanks to its unique crinkle-stretch fabric and was actually the brand responsible for creating Julia Roberts’s iconic Pretty Woman dress! How wild is that? Years later, it was revived as the swimwear brand, called Hunza G, under the direction of Georgiana Huddart. We chatted with the designer about her foray into the swimwear world and her new-found success and celebrity fanbase, which includes Hailey Bieber, Kim Kardashian, Emily Ratajkowski, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Another amazing thing about Hunza G? The stretchy material allows the swimsuits to be one-size-fits-most, from sizes six to 14. (Side note: I was skeptical, but I own an orange one-piece from the brand and it is really flattering.) Read on to learn more about the swimsuit brand straight from Georgiana ahead. Then, shop some of our favorite selects if you’re in the market for new swimwear ahead. Still Washing Your Bras and Underwear in the Machine? This Process Will Change Your Ways
May 20, 2020 at 08:57PM If you own a bra, a pair of underwear, or any sort of lingerie, you should be hand-washing these pieces consistently, so please keep reading if you’re not sure how it’s done. You’ve probably shelled out a fair sum of cash on your intimates, and we know you want to preserve their condition – especially for those times it feels appropriate to let them show. Even though there are ways to throw your underthings through the wash and get away with it, we wanted to find out what the most gentle tactic really is, because we cherish our lingerie. We tapped our friends Jessica Gleckler, director of retail at Eberjey, and Kathleen Talbot, Reformation’s chief sustainability officer & VP of operations, for some pro tips. Even though hand-washing is simple, there are dos, don’ts, and common mistakes to be aware of. Eco-friendly brand Reformation partners with Cosabella on a range of intimates, and Kathleen shed light on why hand-washing not only preserves your underwear, but benefits the environment: “Unfortunately, all lingerie is made using some amount of synthetic material, which means when you wash it, tiny bits of plastic called microfibers shed and contribute to plastic pollution of our waterways. The good news is that by gently hand-washing your pieces in cold water, you can reduce the number of microfibers released.” So just by taking the advice we’ve curated below, you’ll be lengthening the life of your beautiful bra and panty sets, skipping the extra
Stop Searching – I Found the Perfect White Summer Dress. Period.
May 20, 2020 at 08:40PM As a shopping editor, I keep track of new releases all day, every day. Each year, as summer approaches, my mission is to find myself the perfect white dress. It’s basically the LBD of the season. I have always had a tough time discovering a design both flattering and on-trend – half the summery options out there are just loose shifts to throw on over swimsuits. I want something I can easily dress up or down. Then, I discovered Billie the Label. This new brand (offered in sizes 0-14) sells classic silhouettes with cool details that make them the elevated staples of my dreams. If Reformation and Everlane had a baby, I’d name it Billie. When I tried the brand for myself, I instantly fell in love with this Billie the Label Eleanor Dress ($178) – the quality and fit are straight-up perfection. I literally gasped when I opened the package because the dress was even better in person; a figure-flattering a-line skirt, fashion-girl puff sleeves, and a sturdy zipper make it the ideal summer dress. At last, I found it! As a girl with a smaller waist and wider hips in proportion to each other, I couldn’t ask for a better cut. I also don’t have to wear a bra with it, which is a rare win for a D-cup. If I don’t sell it for you, just look at Martha Hunt wearing it like the style icon that she is. It’s comfy enough
