How to Clean Your Sneakers – Because They’re Begging to Be Your Next DIY Project

May 19, 2020 at 09:37PM Cleaning my sneakers is basically the one DIY project that I’ve been avoiding while staying home. But it’s a go-to for so many people right now, and ahead of the summer, when my sneakers get a ton of wear, it feels pretty necessary. I needed a little bit of motivation to get my head in the game, as they say. My white canvas high-tops were glaring me down every time I walked by them – “We don’t deserve these stains!” they seemed to be saying – and I knew they needed my full attention. I tapped some of my friends from a few of my favorite sneaker brands, including the teams at Kenneth Cole and Soludos, plus Claire Green, Ben Rosario, and Joe Gray from Hoka One One, and I asked them my burning questions. I figured that with the proper guidance, I might actually take sneaker cleaning as seriously as I do Netflix-ing. I didn’t just request the standard dos and dont’s (i.e. can I just, like, throw all my sneakers into a delicate cycle on cold?), but I also kept fashion sneakers in mind. I requested specifics on white sneakers, leather sneakers, mesh sneakers, and sneaker soles. With chunky platforms all the rage right now, it’s no surprise our steep soles could be the focus of our next deep cleanse. Scroll down to find the answer to every question you have about sneaker cleaning, and put that bristle brush to work! The end

May 19, 2020 at 07:41PM It’s been a while since we last saw Serena van der Woodsen Blake Lively in all her Gossip Girl glory, but we miss her designer-meets-bohemian-meets-preppy style that had us talking (and shopping) after every episode. Michael Jordan’s Game-Worn Nikes Just Broke Records and Sold For a Whopping $560K

May 19, 2020 at 04:58PM Michael Jordan just set a new record, and it’s all thanks to a pair of Nikes. The basketball player, who has been in the news for his hit ESPN documentary series The Last Dance, owned a pair of sneakers from 1985 that have sold for a record price during a Sotheby’s auction. The red Nike Air Jordan 1 sneakers, which were signed by Jordan in permanent marker, sold for a whopping $560,000. That’s about $100,000 more than the previous record holder, which was a pair of 1972 Nike Waffle Racing Flat “Moon Shoes.” Sotheby’s held the online auction with collector and consignor Jordan Geller, who is the founder of sneaker museum Shoezeum. The auction took place on May 17 and coincided with the airing of the last episode of The Last Dance – that’s probably the reason why they sold for that much! The midlength sneakers were designed by Peter Moore and were produced and worn during in 1985. According to WWD, “Bidders ranged in age from 19 to over 50 from four continents, and 70 percent of the bidders were new to Sotheby’s. The value reached $300,000 within the final 20 minutes of the start of the sale and eventually sold at more than 3.5 times its $150,000 estimate.” Read on to see Jordan wearing the red sneakers back in 1985, and see a close-up of them signed, too. Dua Lipa’s Louis Vuitton Headscarf Look Just Inspired My Next $30 Outfit

May 19, 2020 at 04:10PM Dua Lipa has been quarantined with her boyfriend, Anwar Hadid, and sharing plenty of content with her fans. There’s tons of outfit inspo mixed into it all (remember that adorable daisy print crop top she went grocery shopping in?). That said, her stay-home style is actually relatable, especially her latest “inside outside outfit,” which she is apparently still workshopping, according to her Instagram caption. But I’m pretty sure this look falls right in line with my current mood – it’s everything I want to be wearing. “Dua has just solidified the headscarf as the single piece you need to jazz up your stay home sweats until the end of time.” Now that it’s nearly summer, I, too, want to turn all my sweatpants into sweat shorts, and a fitted cardigan in the same heather gray shade just makes this seem like an instant matching set. Allow a cutesy bra with glitter straps to make an appearance alongside some rainbow necklaces, playful gold hoops, and a jelly beaded bag, and you’ll instantly look like you just walked out of Limited Too. And man, what I wouldn’t give to have just walked out of Limited Too. Of course, Dua took it upon herself to wrap a silk Louis Vuitton headscarf around her dyed bangs, and that’s the real kicker. Without the printed hair wrap, this outfit would somehow – yes, even given its numerous eye-catching accoutrements – be missing something. Dua has just solidified the headscarf as
