It Took a Whole Week to Make Just One of Elle Fanning’s Catherine the Great Costumes
May 14, 2020 at 09:37PM Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult star in Hulu’s new series The Great, which takes place in Russia in the late 1700s. As Catherine the Great, Elle gets to play the part of the longest reigning female ruler in the country, overthrowing her husband, Peter III. Of course, just one watch through the trailer will assure you that, yes, there are glorious dresses and elaborate fur coats here to see, all of which were imagined and brought to life by costume designer Emma Fryer, who previously worked on styling Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson in The Hustle. “As an actress, Elle has worn a corset quite a few times, so she was used to [wearing it for up to 11 hours on set].” When I spoke to Emma, she mentioned how lovely it was to come back to a period piece after focusing on more modern fashion, although, in order to dream up Catherine the Great’s wardrobe, she did mix references from today’s high fashion world with the contemporary. “I started with a huge resource of different visuals, from exhibitions that were in London at the time and portraits of Catherine the Great to a specific color palette of very dark wine, red, gold, silver, black, burgundy, bronze, and gray. These shades depict the inside of the palace – this very high-end, 18th century European world,” Emma told me. You’re probably wondering if Fanning was dressed in exact reinterpretations of any of Catherine the Great’s looks

12 Times Blake Lively Took a Style Cue From Serena van der Woodsen
May 14, 2020 at 06:45PM Just like her memorable Gossip Girl character Serena van der Woodsen, Blake Lively knows how to put together a trendy outfit. While the actress is a fashionista in her own right, it definitely seems like her time on the CW show influenced her personal style. Even now, long after the show ended in 2012, Blake stills channels Serena from time to time. In addition to all of her flowy gowns and sequined minidresses, she has also sported some preppier looks, like Serena’s Constance Billard uniform. Whether you are a Gossip Girl fan or simply obsessed with Blake’s style, you’ll definitely get some major déjà vu as you scroll through her outfits ahead. Calvin Klein’s Pride Campaign Celebrates Individuality in the Most Beautiful Way
May 14, 2020 at 04:42PM While Pride month might look a little different this year without the parades and marches, the celebrations certainly won’t stop. Calvin Klein kicked off the festivities with its #PROUDINMYCALVINS campaign, which celebrates “self-expression and the full spectrum of LGBTQ+ identities.” The campaign stars nine different models, actors, artists, and activists in the LGBTQ+ community: Tommy Dorfman, Chella Man, MaryV, Pabllo Vittar, Jari Jones, Mina Gerges, Gia Woods, Reece King, and Ama Elsesser. Shot by photographer Ryan McGinley, the photos exude individuality and pride in the most beautiful way. The brand’s goal was for the LGBTQ+ community to feel fully represented by the range of faces and perspectives, with each talent being chosen for their authentic experiences. While the intimate campaign photos of course radiate the classic sexiness Calvin Klein is known for, the vulnerable shots speak to each model’s individual uniqueness. Check out the stripped-down video and admire all of the gorgeous campaign shots ahead. Kourtney Kardashian’s in a Sexy Bikini, and Somehow I’m Distracted by Her Cover-Up
May 14, 2020 at 04:26PM It’s officially bikini season, and that means Kourtney Kardashian is participating in the stay-home, lounge-in-your-swimwear trend. The 41-year-old mom of three posed at home in Los Angeles in a strappy little copper bikini, but it was what she styled it with that caught my attention. Kourtney plucked one of the many awesome bowling shirts from Australian brand Holiday the Label – they come in a whole range of cool patterns and bright shades – and went for the Western trend, captioning her photo, “cowgirl,” albeit with emoji. Kourtney accessorized with sunglasses by Port Tanger and a straw sunhat, proving that, just like most of her family, she looks great in a mix of animal print and neutrals. Since most of us do already have similarly colored two-pieces that are easy to coordinate with cover-ups, it’s the breezy button-down I’m in the market for this time around. Think of the ones I rounded up ahead as the cousin of the Hawaiian shirt – they come in the same silhouette, but their prints cater to the days you want to take a walk on the wild side. Catch another glimpse of Kourtney’s bikinigram ahead, then get to shopping.
