“OMG David!” . . . Has His Own Sunglasses Line?! Yup, Dan Levy Is an Eyewear Designer
May 05, 2020 at 04:59PM OK, when was someone going to let us know that Dan Levy of Schitt’s Creek is an eyewear designer? It appears that he started the brand in July 2013, and the company produced campaign images, some of which star the one and only Annie Murphy (aka Alexis)! But obviously she could pass for a sunglasses model. Even though D.L. Eyewear stopped posting content on Instagram in November 2014, if you head over to the site, there’s an announcement that “Something new is coming soon,” and a lot of the sunglasses and opticals, retailing for less than $200 CAD, are still available to shop. D.L. Eyewear runs with the slogan “see with love,” and all the designs on the site are supersleek with a touch of color and quirk – it’s funny, that’s exactly how we’d describe Levy himself. We reached out to a representative to see how soon we can expect more styles from Dan (now that his work is done on Schitt’s Creek, perhaps he has more time on his hands?). What the What?! Blake Lively’s Gowns Magically Matched the Met Gala Red Carpet For 3 Years
May 05, 2020 at 04:36PM Blake Lively took a trip down memory lane on May 4, 2020 – what would have been the 2020 Met Gala. To celebrate the first Monday in May, Blake posted a series of throwback pictures of her gorgeous gowns on the red carpet with the caption, ” . . . when the carpet matches the Blakes. Met Ball 2018, 2017, 2016.” It seems like the Gossip Girl star realized that she somehow ended up coordinating with the carpet of the iconic steps each year without meaning to! Even Gigi Hadid joked that Blake and Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour were in cahoots to make this coordination happen commenting, “How far in advance do you have to tell Anna what color to make the carpet?” Let’s take a look at the evidence, shall we? For the 2016 “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” theme, Blake wore a pink silk floor-sweeping Burberry number, complete with red bouquets that embellished her cape. The carpet that year happened to be in the same pink and red color. In 2017, Blake channeled her inner Serena van der Woodsen in a dazzling gold Versace number with light and dark blue feather trim. Anna Wintour’s Home Office Has It All: Beautiful Flowers, Funky Frames, and Every Single Issue of Vogue
May 05, 2020 at 12:23AM Roughly 12,500 people tuned into “A Moment With the Met,” Vogue‘s short-lived virtual YouTube event that celebrated the first Monday in May. After a history of the Costume Institute, Anna Wintour removed her signature dark sunglasses to address us. She talked about the “About Time” themed Met exhibit, set to open in October, A Common Thread (a video series launched with the CFDA as a platform where up-and-coming designers can talk about their struggles and shifting routines), and her well wishes for the world. “This is a time of grief and of hardship for millions, and the postponement of a party is nothing in comparison,” she said. Anna went on to ask viewers to donate to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, if they’re able. It does feel rather odd to see Anna Wintour on the first evening in May wearing a simpler victorian-inspired dress with ruffles and a marble print, rather than a glamorous rose-covered gown; perhaps something in jacquard, to match her daughter Bee (who always joins her on the red carpet). The sliver lining? We got a glimpse into Anna’s home office, which, as we now know, is lined with a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf filled with what appears to be every single issue of American Vogue (presumably since she took the reigns at the magazine in 1988). Since The Costume Institute’s spring 2020 Met Gala exhibition “About Time: Fashion and Duration” is postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), the magazine honored the first Monday in May with a live streaming digital fashion event. Along with fundraising for the Met’s Costume Institute and the CFDA’s A Common Thread initiative, Vogue is encouraging viewers to make a donation if possible. After a message from Vogue‘s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, Florence came on the screen to sing “You’ve Got the Love” in a beige silk gown that had a bow accent. The singer accessorized the long-sleeved dress with a bunch of gold rings and tied her hair up in an elegant braid crown. While she was singing, we also got a glimpse of Florence’s house and we couldn’t help but stare at the gorgeous wallpaper she was standing in front of. The dreamy wallpaper featured drawings of different types of trees, swans, and reindeer all next to a lake. It was the perfect backdrop to show off her angelic voice.
