April 30, 2020 at 11:26AM One of our favorite plant-based cookbooks authors, Meredith Baird-Figone has been cooking up a storm on Instagram. In her IGTV series, the Quarantine Kitchen, we’ve been learning to use simple fresh veggies and pantry staples to whip up recipes so good we can hardly believe it. As a long-time proponent of the raw food diet, we knew Meredith had some great recipes for healthy, plant-based sauces and dressings up her sleeve. We asked her to share an IGTV with us and her shaved veggie salad with seed-based dressing did not disappoint. Watch it here! You’re going to want to bookmark this one — this is the kind of dressing recipe that’ll makes just about anything you’ve got in the kitchen taste like a million bucks. To make easy work of the thinly sliced veggies in the salad, use a peeler like this one. Once you get the hang of quickly shaving veggies in this way, they are a quick way to improve quick salads and bowls of every kind. This dressing is good with virtually anything. You can add some dulse or nori to give it a caesar dressing flavor as well. SIMPLE SHAVED VEGETABLE SALAD WITH CREAMY PUMPKIN SEED DRESSING Salad // Shave or thinly slice as many vegetables as you want. Zucchini, radishes, carrots, beets, celery are all great options. Toss with a little lemon juice, and as many herbs as you’d like. Dressing // 1 cup pumpkin seeds, sunflower, hemp or sesame seeds

Eat What You Want: A Drool-Worthy Dinner From Gaby Dalkin’s Latest Cookbook
April 30, 2020 at 10:51AM Gaby Dalkin is the down to earth chef and recipe developer behind What’s Gaby Cooking. Gaby’s third cookbook, Eat What You Want debuted this week and she had us at the title. Healthful eating has come a long way in the last decade, thanks to so many chefs, bloggers and home cooks applying their best culinary efforts to direct our population in a healthy direction that is also enjoyable. Try Gaby’s bowl recipe below for perfect proof of what modern, healthy cooking looks like. Feeling lazy? Just make the dressing, keep it in the fridge and pour it over just about everything you eat this week! Cauliflower Shawarma Bowl Serves: 4 I originally came up with this recipe as a side dish, serving the cauliflower on its own, because it really is that good. It has all the rich, crispy flavor of a meat- based shawarma, which is perfect for a Middle Eastern street food–style bowl with fresh veggies, hummus, feta, and tahini dressing. Serve it with pita chips and you have yourself a meal. Ingredients: 2 pounds (910 g) cauliflower florets 1 tablespoon ground turmeric 1 tablespoon ground cumin 1 teaspoon kosher salt 1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper 1 teaspoon ground coriander 1 teaspoon paprika ¼ cup (60 ml) olive oil 1 cup (240 g) hummus (page 51) 1 cup (55 g) shredded romaine lettuce 1 cup (95 g) shredded purple cabbage 1 cup (145 g)
Stay-At-Home Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
April 29, 2020 at 11:46AM Sharing a stay-at-home Mother’s Day gift guide with lots of ideas for the women and caretakers we love so much. Hi friends! How’s the day treating you so far? I hope you’re having a good morning. The weather has been warming up a ton here in Tucson, so the girls have been staying cool by playing with the hose, the unicorn sprinkler, and I ordered them a little inflatable pool that should be here today. If this continues, we’ll be hopping the wall at my parents’ houses to use their pools. I was brainstorming Mother’s Day ideas since it’s just around the corner. It’s going to be a different kind of Mother’s Day this year and some of the things I’d usually request (a great restaurant brunch, nap, get-together with our whole family, and a spa service gift card!) are pretty much off the table for now. I thought I’d share some of the ideas I’ve thought of if you’re trying to plan something special, or if you want to send it along to the hubby as a “wink-wink, here are some ideas” kinda thing. There are lots of lower-cost and free options included in this gift guide, too. I’d love any ideas you have for Mother’s Day (especially for our moms and grandmothers!) during this weirdo time. Stay-At-Home Mother’s Day Gift Ideas The daily uniform! Fashion is a liiiiittle different (at least for me!) these days. I’m living in loungewear and athletic clothes. Here
Trust Monikh—Our Girl Just Found the Ultimate Throw-On Dress at H&M
April 29, 2020 at 06:28AM There are hundreds of thousands of influencers in the social ether, but only a handful who we religiously stalk in order to virtually steal the clothes off their backs. Our primary target is Monikh—the London-based styling and shopping guru who seeks out the very coolest buys from every corner of the retail world. From her inspiring tips on re-wearing her well-chosen investment items to hunting down the coolest high-street pieces, her Instagram feed @monikh and website are a veritable hotbed of things you’re going to want to purchase immediately (and will never regret). Each week, Monikh will share her new picks exclusively for you… The weather’s turned dull and wet, but that means there’s even more reason now to get up and get ready and to keep motivated! And what better way to do it than finding pieces that not only feel great but look great too? I’m a sucker for a good dress, so when I saw this one I just couldn’t let it go! Wrap the hoodie (below) around your waist and throw on a pair of New Balance trainers to give it that 2020 edge. There’s nothing like giving your legs the freedom of a big, spacious skirt. This one from Arket is the perfect anywhere, anytime item that you could dress a thousand ways. For now, team with that yellow hoodie and a chunky flat. A brand I am obsessed with: It’s the same brand as that orange jumper I’ve been

hi from the land of DIY
April 27, 2020 at 11:44AM Hi friends! Happy Monday! I think it’s Monday? It’s so weird how the days seem to all blend together. I hope your weekend brought you some peace and relaxation. Ours was packed with projects but we made time for ice cream, tent night in the living room, and some family walks. Friday afternoon, I finished putting together a gallery wall in the living room and was like, “Let’s get the paint for the cabinets!” Before you could say, “Lowes is the equivalent of Black Friday madness” we were covered in paint splatters: deglossing, priming, and painting. (In all seriousness though, Lowe’s was BANANAS. The Pilot wore a mask and was the only one who went inside, while the girls and I waited in the car, but I couldn’t believe the parking lot. I guess a lot of people are tackling home improvement projects while we’re stuck at home.) I’ve had some requests to do a full post on the process, so I’ll definitely post the details when everything is finished. I will say that it takes 1400 years but the results are SO worth it. It’s already brightened up the kitchen and I can’t wait to see the final product! I took a break from painting to drop off a baby gift to a friend, and wore real clothes for 3 whole hours. Cool sock tan, bro. (Dress is here! It’s $40 and such an awesome summer staple. I have a striped one and black
14 Vegan Leather Pieces You’ll Wear All Year Long
April 27, 2020 at 06:06AM It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what defines a fashion item as “trending” in 2020. Usually, it’s a combination of factors, including runway presence, street style presence, and of course, popularity across the social media. Though, thankfully, search engines such as Lyst exist, which are able to provide concrete evidence about an item’s popularity through search queries and statistics. Interestingly enough, recently Lyst revealed that “vegan leather” has undergone a drastic increase in interest, as the platform revealed that searches for the term have increased 69% year on year. Lyst’s annual Conscious Fashion Report, further explained that the term now garners an average of 33,100 online searches monthly. And there’s no disputing those statistics. With figures like that, here at Who What Wear thought it was high-time we compiled an edit of the best vegan leather pieces available, spanning designer brands, such as Stella McCartney, contemporary labels, such as Nanuska, and high-street brands, including Free People. Of course, it’s important to note that while vegan leather is an ethical choice, many vegan leathers are created from PU which is a type of plastic. However, many brands are working to create vegan leather in a more sustinable way, and as Lyst notes, this is also important to consumers as searches for the term “eco vegan leather” have also increased throughout the last year. Keep scrolling to see how a few fashionable favourites are styling vegan leather, as well as an edit of our favourite pieces. Style Notes: Rosie HW styles
Instant Pot Kung Pao Chicken
April 26, 2020 at 10:00AM Ready for a quick, 1-pot dinner recipe? Look no further than this healthy Instant Pot Kung Pao Chicken made with simple ingredients, delicious and juicy chicken and your daily serving of veggies! This one-pot wonder will wow the whole family. I’ll be honest, I’m pretty slow to jump on food trends. I think I was the last person to buy a spiralizer and I’m still holding out on an air fryer. My skepticism holds me back and truthfully, C isn’t all that thrilled with another kitchen gadget taking up space in our already cramped kitchen. The Instant Pot is no exception. I figured, I already have a slow cooker, why do I need an Instant Pot?! If this Instant Pot Kung Pao Chicken is any indication, I clearly gave in. We’ve actually had our Instant Pot for over two years. After hearing enough friends rave about theirs and trying some pretty delicious recipes (Lee is the queen of Instant Pot!) I decided to add it to our wedding registry. For the first few months I basically used it as a fancy rice cooker but it became pretty clear to me that while people may claim that it makes cooking faster, […] The post Instant Pot Kung Pao Chicken appeared first on The Healthy Maven.
