You Can Now Buy THAT J-Lo Green Versace Dress

May 19, 2020 at 06:00AM The most talked-about look for the spring summer 2020 season was without a doubt Versace’s cutout gown, which was a reimagining of the dress Jennifer Lopez wore to the Grammys in 2000. Even Anna Wintour grinned when J.Lo walked down the runway at Milan Fashion Week in the dress that led to the invention of Google’s image search tool. This wasn’t just a moment for Instagram, however as now you can purchase the gown yourself.  Net-a-Porter noted in its spring summer 2020 trend report that this is its biggest investment from the Versace runway. The original runway version is now available on the site for £6960, while Net-A-Porter has also heavily bought into a commercial version for £4850. That might still be an eye watering price, however the crystal-embellished silk gown is listed as ‘low stock’ on almost every size. This JLO-approved motif was however a key part of the entire collection, so you’ll also find leggings, silk scarves and mini skirts in the palm print.  Jennifer Lopez wearing the £6960 runway Versace dress at Milan Fashion Week.  Jennifer Lopez wearing the £6960 runway Versace dress at Milan Fashion Week.  Jennifer Lopez wearing the £6960 runway Versace dress at Milan Fashion Week.  Jennifer Lopez in the original Versace dress at the Grammys.  Jennifer Lopez in the original Versace dress at the Grammys.  Next up, see our guide to the key trends for spring summer 2020.  Author Emma Spedding | Whowhatwear Selected by CWC

We Predict This Will Be the Trending Top of the Summer

May 19, 2020 at 06:00AM Sometimes a trend comes along that’s so simple that anyone can get in on it without feeling like they’re being too ostentatiously “fashion.” Today, that trend is the sleeveless T-shirt. Once reserved for rock stars like Debbie Harry, thanks to brand of the moment The Frankie Shop’s versions, this top is now firmly back on the fashion industry’s radar. The defining details of the current style are that it needs to be sleeveless (of course) but with slightly oversize shoulders and a round neck. Colours are kept simple with white, cream, black and grey being the most acceptable hues. However, stripes and muted pastels are also great options. Further proof that this trend is going to be ubiquitous for the season is that you can find the top from luxury brands such as The Row and high-street stores like Weekday—ideal for whatever your budget is. And if you’re saving the pennies right now? You can always chop off the sleeves of a T-shirt you don’t love anymore.  Before you decide to invest, perhaps it would be good to know how to wear this look? The brilliant thing about it is that it’s a simple top, so you can wear it with anything, and it’ll look great. My personal preference is to pair with jeans, but a denim skirt would look just as fab or a pair of shorts when it gets hot in the summer. As for accessories, layered gold chains and a pair of oversize black

So These Are the Jeans We’ll All Be Wearing This Year

May 19, 2020 at 05:00AM The S/S 20 runways were rife with exciting trends for us to look forward to next year. (Colourful leather! Bermuda shorts! Waistcoats! And ’60s wallpaper prints, to name but a few.) But we particularly had our eyes on all things denim. The everyday staple had a huge presence on the runways—with every big designer from Givenchy to Gucci and Celine showcasing the much-loved fabric in a variety of refreshing ways, including cropped culottes, vintage washes and ’70s flares. (Yes, they’re back!) Scroll below as we share some of the biggest jean trends that we can expect to see all over our feeds, in our favourite retailers, and inevitably in our closets this year. Then, shop the looks before everyone else. There was a major emphasis on retro-looking denim on the S/S 20 runways. Jeans exuded an upcycled, lived-in vibe. If they look like they could have been pulled straight out of a vintage shop, then you’ve nailed the trend. Boot-cut jeans are back. Thanks to designers such as Celine, Marc Jacobs and Gucci, the leg-lengthening, flared denim silhouette is set to be huge next year. Opt for a high-waisted pair cinched at the waist with a narrow belt. Love them or hate them, there’s no denying ripped and distressed jeans will be in the limelight in 2020. Balance the casual, undone look with a sophisticated high-neck blouse or a polished blazer as seen at Givenchy. Whether they were Bermuda-style long shorts, culottes or cropped wide-leg styles, shorter hemlines were

Who What Wear Spotlight: Our New Program Designed to Support Small Businesses

May 18, 2020 at 02:19PM Who What Wear Spotlight was born when our co-founder Katherine Power had the idea to use some of our ad inventory to support small fashion and beauty businesses that have been impacted by COVID-19. Starting from Monday 25th May, each week we will turn the spotlight on a company that will receive a complimentary week-long media package featuring the company, including an editorial story on WhoWhatWear.co.uk, social promotion and ads on the site leading to the content.  With these efforts, we are extending a hand to the fashion-and-beauty community, using our ad inventory for good, and directing our audience of 2.3 million shoppers worldwide to the brands that need their support the most. Our audience still wants to shop and see the best new brands and cares more than ever about who they are choosing to support with their purchases, so this is a win-win for both the founders of these businesses and our community. Who What Wear wouldn’t be where we are without support from our industry, and we’re very excited to give something positive back with this initiative, especially to those who are underrepresented. If you’d like to apply for your company or know a small fashion or beauty business that would be perfect for this, our application form is open—here is where to apply for the UK site (and for American companies here is the application form for the US program). Our hope is to continue to evolve this program, using it as a dedicated franchise to support smaller businesses. Here is

These £35 Influencer-Approved Shorts are a Summer Staple

May 18, 2020 at 12:58PM A few weeks ago, Lucy Williams posted a photo of herself to Instagram wearing Arket’s of-the-moment, elastic waist, linen shorts. After seeing the image, I immediately found myself clicking over to the brand’s website, desperate to get a pair of my own, knowing full well they’d become a hero summer item I’d wear all season long. To my disappointment, the staple had already sold out in several different colours.  Thankfully, Arket knows a thing or two about keeping their customers happy as the label has restocked the popular item in both the black and light beige colourways. An influencer favourite, already this season the shorts have been worn by Lucy Williams and Rachael Clifton of Bubbly Aquarius, proving they are indeed a very hot commodity.  Though they are certainly an expensive-looking staple, the shorts retail for a very affordable £35 and given their versatility, I have already thought of about 35 different ways I’d like to wear them. With a matching linen shirt, a racer tank and my Stan Smith sneakers, à la Lucy Williams for starters. So, whether you’re at home, at your local park or even venturing to the beach this summer, a pair of elastic waist linen shorts are the wear-anywhere staple that will see you through almost all occasions. Keep scrolling to see how influencers are wearing the staple and then shop the shorts below.  Next up, the biggest S/S 20 fashion trends you need to know.  Author Zoe Anastasiou | Whowhatwear Selected by CWC

I Just Tried Over 35 Foundations—These Are the Ones I’d Recommend

May 18, 2020 at 06:30AM Usually, I have to undergo several weeks of preparation before I can muster up the mental courage to embark on a foundation shopping trip. The first step is furiously scrubbing off the residual makeup that’s caked on the empty bottle of my foundation to try and decipher the shade name. It’s usually something arbitrary and food-related like cocoa or mocha, but that’s a conversation for another day. Then I make a hit list and map out the brands that I know have more than 10 shades in their range (or at least one that they deem appropriate for darker skin tones). When I finally make it into the shop, I’m already weary by the time I decide which foundations to swatch. Then I find it: a seemingly good match. Well, it’s a good match until I take it home and head out into the sun and realise my face has oxidised into a shade of brick red. While foundation is actually one of my favourite makeup products, shopping for one is not my favourite activity. When you find a game-changing foundation, it can really transform the way the rest of your makeup looks, so I decided to save you some trouble and test them all out. I tried out all the foundations on the market that claim to be best for darker skin tones, making sure to bookmark which ones live up to the hype for your (and my future) ease. As my astrology chart will attest, I take

This Is How to Safely Whiten Your Teeth at Home, According to the Experts

May 18, 2020 at 06:30AM I’m not sure about you, but the first thing I’m doing when life is a little bit back to normal is booking an appointment with my dentist. Forget manicures and haircuts. When it comes to my appearance, it’s my teeth that have been hardest hit by this whole thing. The luxury of being able to pop to the dentist when you’re experiencing a twinge of pain or calling up the hygienist when things start looking a little discoloured has been sadly torn away from us, and I’m struggling. Let me get one thing straight: I hate going to the dentist. Like, way more than your average person hates it. Despite ongoing sensitivity issues and a molar that is a little worse for wear, I have put off booking an appointment for months. But now that the option of being able to book has been taken away from me? I’ve never been more desperate to be in that dentist’s chair. You see, over the last couple of months, not only have my aforementioned dental issues worsened a little, but the appearance of my teeth as a whole has plummeted. Whether it’s because of the amount of tea I have been stress-drinking or just because it’s been a while since my last appointment, my previously pearly whites have descended into a state of yellow-tinged dismay. And I’m desperate to do something about it. Wary that my teeth probably aren’t in a particularly strong state right now, I’m cautious that I

May 18, 2020 at 06:00AM Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like they physically won’t be able to return to jeans once we come out of lockdown? Don’t get me wrong. It’s not like I’ve been schlepping around in pyjamas 24/7, but even when I put on a nice blouse, I’ve been pairing it with waist-friendly joggers or knitted trousers. My point is that many of us are finally settling into the joys of loungewear, however that translates into your wardrobe or personal style.
