May 05, 2020 at 06:49PM Canadian clothing retailer Aritzia has today announced a massive new initiative to support Canadian healthcare workers. In celebration of Giving Tuesday Now – “a global day of unity to take place on May 5, 2020, as a response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19,” according to its website – the clothing company will donate $10 million worth of clothing to thousands of Canadian healthcare workers through its new Aritzia Community Care Program. The company will make an initial donation of $10 million that will see 320,000 pieces of clothing donated to 80,000 frontline workers. The workers will receive custom-designed clothing care packages to allow them to change out of their work clothes into comfortable, easy-wear pieces. The package includes two of the brand’s tour T-shirts and two pairs of its Atmosphere leggings, branded with the custom Aritzia Community logo. Photograph courtesy of Aritzia. Additionally, Aritzia is calling upon its community to also get in on the action. Beginning today, the brand is offering two sponsorship packages online – the Double Diamond ($200) and the Diamond ($100) – with the aim to donate an additional $10 million worth of product to another 90,000 healthcare workers. For every sponsorship package purchased by a customer, Aritzia is donating two to healthcare workers. Licensed female Canadian healthcare workers are eligible to register to receive one of these packages (free of charge) with registration beginning on May 11. The news follows last week’s announcement from high street giant

Gwyneth Wore This Item Almost Every Day in the ’90s—Now It’s Back
May 05, 2020 at 06:16PM I may have been born at the tail end of the ’80s, but I still consider myself to be a ’90s child. I wore floral leggings with oversize T-shirts, tied my hair with a rainbow of scrunchies, and donned my light-up trainers with pride. Of course, perhaps with the exception of the scrunchie, I would never wear such items now, but it seems there are a plethora of cool ’90s trends I missed out on because of my age. And the most notable has to be the leather blazer. Practically the uniform of the ’90s A-list elite—think Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston and Cindy Crawford—the leather blazer was easily the coolest cover-up of the decade. Most commonly worn with slip dresses, vintage denim or a pair of tiny rectangle sunglasses, it now appears the throw-on is making a comeback and is being styled much the same as it was in its heyday. Arket was the first brand we registered as resurrecting the trend, with its perfectly slouchy leather blazer. Since then, it’s won a legion of loyal fans (the most notable of which being Brittany Bathgate). Then that was it—we began spotting leather blazers left, right and centre, gracing new-in sections and Instagram alike. Keep scrolling to see just how much outfit mileage it can give you. Then once you’re sold (which we have a feeling you will be), proceed to shop our edit of the best leather blazers—be it vegan or the real thing. Cindy

Apink’s Maximalist Vintage Looks in “Dumhdurum”
May 05, 2020 at 06:00PM I’ve been a fan of Apink since their cutesy NoNoNo days, and while everyone was wondering how the K-pop group would transition as the members matured, Apink has thankfully done it with incredible grace and style. 2018’s I’m So Sick and 2019’s %% (Eung Eung) brought timely evolutions in sound coupled with correspondingly sleek and sexy looks. So understandably, I was super hyped for the sextet’s latest comeback with Dumhdurum, especially after I caught a glimpse of the get-ups in the MV teasers! The group goes all out with old-school glam ensembles that are perfectly color-coordinated and accessorized. Read on for a breakdown of all the components that give these drool-worthy outfits a whole lot of oomph. Bold Patterns From the very first scene of the Dumhdurum music video, when the girls are sitting pretty in a retro-style train car à la Murder on the Orient Express, the first thing that caught my eye was all the patterns! There’s plenty of preppy, elegant plaid, as found on Naeun’s sleeveless straight-fit dress in yellow, Eunji’s co-ord set of a yellow blazer and mini skirt, Hayoung’s oversized green jacket layered over a floaty mesh maxi dress, and Chorong’s red knit vest. An equally bold choice with a more luxe vibe, allover chain print is found on Namjoo’s silky navy blue blouse and Naeun’s figure-hugging puff-sleeve mini dress, while jacquard mini skirts on Hayoung and Chorong keep things classy and add a touch of shimmer – Hayoung’s outfit even incorporates some sparkly, patterned long socks in a matching shade! On the other end of the spectrum, grandma chic vibes are added into the

Canadian Artisan Product Sales Have Grown ‘Exponentially’ of Late, According to Simons
May 05, 2020 at 03:35PM By week’s end, we will have hit the two-month mark of social distancing. Whilst it’s undoubtedly been a tough transition, and one that, despite the length of the situation, still doesn’t feel totally ‘normal’, there has been plenty of good that has come out of our new reality. We’ve reconnected with friends and family, learned the value and importance of separating work from home life and as consumers, have taken stock of what brands we want to support with our money moving forward. And according to Quebec retailer Simons, an increasing number of us have chosen to support Canadian artisans during this time. Fabrique 1840 is the department store’s digital platform that highlights and supports artisans across the country. At present, it has 117 creators in its lineup. In a press release announcing the expansion of the program, the company noted that in the past 14 months, sales through Fabrique 1840 have topped one million dollars. What’s more is that in the past eight weeks since most of the country entered social distancing, Simons says that traffic and sales on the platform have experienced “exponential growth” – showing that Canadians are rallying behind small businesses and craftsmanship at a time when it is needed most. “We are clearly seeing a renewed interest and desire from Canadian consumers to support and sustain local design and makers of hand-crafted goods,” Peter Simons, the company’s president, said in a release. “Fabrique 1840 is now a well-established, proven ecosystem
