If Your Hair Is Snapping, These Are the Habits You Need to Change ASAP
June 30, 2020 at 05:30PM Over the past few weeks, it’s safe to say that we have all experienced a beauty mishap or two. From patchy, half-fallen-out lash extensions to grown-out manicures and toes that need some serious tending to, there’s no doubt that our beauty routines have recently been flipped on their heads. The biggest issues that it seems almost everyone is facing, though, are those to do with our hair. Being unable to get out to salons means that many of us are currently facing unsightly roots and split ends and even risking at-home haircuts in a bid to better the situation. One of the most common complaints that I have come across, however, is that of hair breakage. In fact, almost everyone I have spoken to agrees that their hair seems to be snapping much more than it ever has before. Unsure whether your short strands are breakage or just baby hairs? “Loss of elasticity in hair leads to snapping. Healthy hair will be able to ping back into shape. The stress test is when it’s wet, if you pull the hair and it bounces back, it’s healthy,” says Paul Edmonds, celebrity hairstylist and official BAFTA partner. While there’s no doubt that regular trims are essential for keeping hair healthy and strong, there are some things that will help prevent further hair breakage. Keep scrolling to discover the hair habits that experts warn could be causing your strands to snap and what you can do to help. Okay, it might seem obvious, but overprocessing
These Expert-Approved Tips Guarantee Stronger Nails
June 30, 2020 at 05:30PM If you are the sort of person who can grow your nails to a length that has people asking whether or not they are real, just know that you are blessed. For the average person, growing your nails can seem like quite an impossible task. Take me, for instance. With what can only be described as teeny-tiny nail beds, my nails will always appear short at first glance. Plus, without a strong grounding for any sort of growth, they’re prone to snapping, snagging and breaking. Usually, I try to make time for a manicure around once a month. After a professional shape and tidy and once I have gel colour applied, my nails feel impossibly strong, like nothing could possibly break them. In fact, it’s when I have had a manicure that my nails are able to grow their healthiest. It makes sense, therefore, that the last few weeks have taken a toll on my nails. Without any hope of a salon appointment, and with my below-par at-home mani skills, it’s safe to say my nails aren’t looking their best. While some are brittle and snapping left, right and centre, others are paper-thin, flimsy and weak. So without a nail technician in sight, I thought it was about time I tried to do something about it. In a bid to improve nail health far and wide during these trying times, I reached out to those in the know to find out exactly what is that’s causing my nails to play up.

Do Oral Piercings Affect Your Dental Health?
June 30, 2020 at 02:59PM Growing up in the late 90s and early 00s, a youth like myself would see many trends unfold before their very eyes. Loewe Unveils New Collection for Pride Month Dedicated to Legendary Drag Queen, Divine
June 24, 2020 at 02:02PM Although Pride month looks a little different this year, brands are still releasing collections to mark the occasion in style. Now, Loewe has unveiled its Pride month collection which has a unique spin – the entire collection is dedicated to performer Divine (nee Harris Glenn Milstead). Divine is a legendary drag icon, who starred in a series of John Waters films in the seventies and eighties, including Pink Flamingos, Lust in the Dust and Hairspray. Once called “the filthiest person alive,” Divine “preempted the glorification of trash, the mix of high and low, the fantastic erasure of gender barriers,” explains designer Jonathan Anderson in a release. He added that Divine “was quite simply larger than life. He was in every sense – as a man, a performer, a personality and a body. To me, he is the embodiment of self-determination.” As such, Anderson “thought it was time to celebrate him, the LOEWE way: with a capsule collection inspired by his looks and a museum exhibition honouring his artistry.” Although COVID has scuppered any plans to host the exhibition anytime soon (an updated virtual format is live now with the hopes that an in-person event can take place in the future), the brand has pressed on with a smaller, limited-edition collection, which officially launches tomorrow. It consists of three T-shirts and a Cushion tote bag, each of which will be available to purchase online. The shirts feature Divine’s image, as well as the quote, “Is this ‘woman’ the
I Just Discovered the Cutest High-Street Co-ord
June 24, 2020 at 11:00AM When it comes to dressing for summer, I take the more is more approach. I go for loose linen jumpsuits, flowing trousers and dresses, white jeans, and seersucker tops with puff sleeves (all the better for ventilation). If you haven’t gathered already I tend to cover up when the sun comes out. That’s partly because I want to protect my skin but also because the UK weather is so changeable that I will inevitably get cold, and need to rely on trusty layers to cope with the hourly shift in temperatures. But then I spied a crop-top-and-mini-skirt daisy print co-ord from & Other Stories. It has all the markings of an outfit I’d usually avoid—”mini” and “crop top” aren’t words to describe anything in my daily wardrobe. However, there is a heatwave, people, and both these items, whether worn together or separately have the power to transform an outfit. Personally, I love the square neck on the crop top and can imagine wearing it with a pair of high waisted wide-leg white jeans I’ve got in my wardrobe. I’d also say that the mini would look incredible with a white T-shirt or loose shirt tucked in. As for shoes—opt for strappy heels or classic white sneakers, from brands such as Veja or Superga. And if you’re into the full shebang, might I suggest taking tips from the two women below who pull the co-ord off with aplomb. Keep scrolling to see the look… Style Notes: Chic heels and a
