April 24, 2020 at 06:30AM Cutting in a fringe can seem like a big commitment, yet it’s a hairstyle most of us have likely at least considered over the years. Fringes come in all types of shapes and cuts, and there are some that can suit everyone, with others being a little harder to pull off, depending on your face shape and how you style your hair usually. If you’re currently feeling tempted by a fringe, there are certain looks that can suit any of us, regardless of these elements. “A parted sweeping fringe will suit any face shape,” explains Maxine Cooke, creative stylist at Nicola Clarke at John Frieda salons. “The length just needs to be adjusted to complement the face shape.” Maxine also recommends opting for a side-swept fringe if you want minimum commitment, and Paul Windle, founder of Windle London, suggests picking a fine long fringe with a couple sections, getting longer from the centre into the sides. As for which styles can be hardest to pull off, Maxine says micro-fringe requires a lot of commitment. “That being said,” she explains, “when it’s done right on the right person, it’s the most striking and beautifully edgy fringe there is.” And, while we do urge that you wait until you can get to salon before you take the plunge, taking inspiration from these 18 chic fringe hairstyles can’t hurt, right? The classic fringe style for a bold, timeless look. Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner tries on a full fringe for style, which was cut by Christian

I Never Sit in the Sun, But These Gradual Tan Products Keep Me Looking Bronzed
April 24, 2020 at 06:30AM There is nothing I love more than sunbathing. I’m ashamed to admit it, but it’s true. The feeling of joy that I get as I lay outside, sipping on a cooling spritz as my skin soaks up all of the vitamin D truly can’t be beaten. And boy have I taken advantage of every minute of sun that’s come my way over the years. However, about a year ago, as I hit my mid-twenties, years of sun damage started to catch up with me. I started to notice creping on my forehead, pigmentation across my cheeks and spider veins on my nose, and I knew the reason why. From then onwards, I refuse to sit in the sun for prolonged periods of time, and for the few minutes I do sit out, you better believe I’ve slathered every inch of exposed skin in SPF50. The problem with this is, however, that I love being tanned. In fact, when I’m not looking my most bronzed and sun-kissed, I really don’t feel like myself. And this causes issues, especially considering I’m really not a huge lover of fake tan. Don’t get me wrong, as much as I love the feeling I get when looking in the mirror after I have applied fake tan (Bondi Sands Aero, I love you), the fuss and hassle of applying super dark formulas is just too much. Luckily for me, over the past year or so, the amount of products that aim to deliver
The Best Minimalist Dresses From COS, & Other Stories, Arket and More
April 24, 2020 at 06:13AM I remember flicking through fashion magazines as a teenager and becoming convinced that the only acceptable way to navigate summer as a stylish woman was to become this vision of bohemianism—floor-grazing linen dresses, suede fringing, peasant blouses and gladiator sandals were the It pieces at the time. One would drift from music festival to music festival, all the while keeping those cream espadrilles in pristine condition. I blame Sienna Miller. It took me far longer than I’d care to admit to realise that, in fact, this is not a style persona that works for me (no matter how many peasant skirts I buy). I just like tailoring too much. However, it was when I ventured into a COS store that everything clicked into place. While I’ll never be a complete fashion purist, there was something about the brand’s simplicity and clean-lined minimalism that made everything feel so chic. As luck would have it, the last 12 months has seen minimalistic style continue its upwards trajectory, with influencers foregoing the look-at-me extraversion that proliferated in 2018, and instead opting for unprinted shirt dresses, simple slips and voluminous smocks. So many brands, from & Other Stories to Arket, are embracing the “less is more” approach, and this is great news for people like me who can’t quite get on board with boho. If this rings true for you too, scroll down to see and shop my minimalistic dress edit and see how influencers are wearing theirs. Style Notes: Smock dresses are a fab option for minimalist-style lovers. Make like Alexis Foreman
Unexpected Outfits Ideas That Are Already In Your Wardrobe
April 24, 2020 at 06:07AM Here at Who What Wear, we firmly believe in the power of timeless clothing, or at the very least clothing you love so much you’re willing to wear it over and over and over again. While the temptation to shop right now is high, each season I set myself the challenge of finding new ways to wear the existing pieces in my wardrobe, in an effort to achieve that ‘new clothes’ feeling without having to spend a thing. Whether it’s dressing down a fancy item, or dressing up your more casualwear, our closet are actually filled with an endless combination of looks, if only we’re willing to experiment a little. With this in mind, I set out to find a few new outfit combinations I’d like to try and copy this season using items I already own. And as usual, the fashion set did not disappoint. From Frann Fyne’s trick to making a maxi skirt day-time appropriate to Erica Choi’s new take on styling a wrap dress, Instagram is a treasure trove of innovative outfit inspiration. Keep scrolling for five unexpected outfit combinations I’ll be trying this spring, using items that are already in my wardrobe. Style Notes: While typically considered quite formal, Frann Fyne adds a casual element to her maxi skirt by pairing it alongside sneakers and a knit jumper. Style Notes: Make use of your slip skirts during this transitional weather by pairing them with tank tops and button-down shirts, as Rachael Clifton of Bubbly Aquarius does here.
I Tried Blue-Light Glasses for a Week to See If They Work—Here’s the Truth
April 24, 2020 at 06:00AM I cannot even remember a life before screens. Can you? In today’s world, we’re not just on one screen at a time but often multitasking on multiple screens. Or should I say, multi-screening? One minute, you’re on your laptop while watching TV, the next furiously catching up on group texts and an occasional Instagram-scroll “break.” What do our poor eyes even look at anymore that’s not a screen? We spend nearly half of our waking hours (42%) on screens (almost seven hours a day), according to a survey done by contact lens manufacturer Cooper Vision. For the past few years, I’ve been operating on the lowest light on my Macbook and iPhone, in addition to dark mode on all devices and night mode (orange light) starting at 8 p.m. I am talking about two to three bars on the brightness scale. For any normal person, that is basically pitch black (just ask any of my co-workers when I’m trying to show them something on my screen), but for me, it was a relief for my sensitive eyes to no longer be constantly staring at a brightly lit screen. With blue light–blocking lenses emerging as a trend in recent years, I embarked on a journey to test out a pair. Do these really work? Do they relieve you from any eye strain? Find out below. Let’s start off with facts and basics. Any screen such as laptops, cell phones, TVs, and tablets emit blue light via white light. (The sun releases white light at the highest degree.)
This Bikini Trend Is Suddenly Dying
April 24, 2020 at 06:00AM We’ve already highlighted the coolest new swim trends for this year and the swimsuits that are out, and ahead I’m breaking down the styles A-listers are getting behind—aka the most popular celebrity bikini trends this year—and the one trend that celebs are notably skipping. Looking to celeb beach outfits, barely-there bikinis are being embraced in a huge way. String bikinis and triangle tops are being endorsed by celebs like Bella Hadid and the always photogenic J. Lo. On the other end of the spectrum, we’re seeing celebs like Kylie Jenner and Emily Ratajkowski wearing inventive one-pieces that range from belted swimsuits to styles with cutouts. The one style we’re not seeing celebrities wear right now? High-waisted bikinis. The silhouette has been hugely popular in the last few years, but now celebrities seem to be shying away from the style. Go on to see the swimsuits the celebrity bikini and one-piece trends they’re wearing instead that are already huge and shop pieces to get their looks. Instead of high-waisted bikinis, celebrities are gravitating toward low-cut styles. We’re seeing a huge uptick in string bikinis and silhouettes that have an early ’00s feel. J. Lo can do no wrong and posted a photo wearing a pink bikini on her Instagram. Shop the matching Brigitte Bikini Bottoms ($112) String bikinis will never go out of style. Shop the matching String Bikini Bottoms ($75) Hailey Beiber is giving electric shades her stamp of approval. Shop the matching Jay Bikini Bottoms ($88) Ashley Graham’s striped bikini
We’ve Found Summer’s Answer to Comfy Joggers
April 24, 2020 at 06:00AM No items divide people quite like shorts, as many people have the item on their ultimate no-no list and prefer to wear skirts and dresses in summer. I myself am not really a shorts person. I have always struggled to find the right length and only tend to wear them on holiday. Fashion buyers have been anticipating that shorts are going to become more popular this season thanks to the prominence of Bermuda shorts on the runways. However, with the unprecedented shifts to our lifestyles, there is a new demand for a different kind of shorts—runners in tracksuit fabrics. For when it gets too hot to wear loungewear, one of the most comfortable items you can wear for summer at home is a pair of shorts in either linen, sweatshirt or jersey fabrics. If you want a pair of basic shorts to act in place of jogging bottoms, I’d recommend you head to Weekday or Topshop. For something a little jazzier, I’m quite taken with Ganni’s leopard and floral prints. Keep scrolling to see how to style these throw-on shorts and our edit of favourites below. These are proving popular already. If lemon isn’t for you, they come in lots more colours. Arket’s linen is really beautiful. Trust Ganni to make the jazziest shorts going. Pair with a sweatshirt for a summery spin on loungewear. The longer length will appeal to many. A smarter take on sporty shorts. Weekday is another favourite for casual shorts. Tie-dye is so popular

6 Jewelry Trends Every Fashion Insider Will Wear in 2020
April 24, 2020 at 06:00AM Ready for a brand-new set of jewelry trends to work into your wardrobe? Same. The S/S 20 shows have come to a close, but I can’t stop thinking about the new jewelry pieces that were styled on the runways. Many of them are destined to be huge this year, and there are some major trends that will be bubbling up during 2020. From the new take on hoop earrings spotted at Proenza Schouler and Versace to the metal Brandon Maxwell and Gucci embraced that is set to be everywhere to the statement necklace trend we saw at Bottega Veneta and Chanel, these are the six biggest spring jewelry trends, period. Want to be an early adopter? Go on to see and shop our edit of pieces to start wearing right now. Hoops aren’t a new trend, but for spring they have been supersized. The new XXL proportions were paired with everything from power suiting to LBDs and are intended to go with just about anything. Statement-jewelry lovers, here’s another one for you. Chain-link necklaces were also spotted on the runways in pumped-up sizes, whether paired with open-front silhouettes or layered over crew-necks. We’ve been predicting the rise of silver jewelry, and the runways are providing even more evidence that the metal will be gaining traction in the coming months. Instead of matching earrings, designers sent models down the runways with just one. At Prabal Gurung and JW Anderson, we saw crystal styles that cascaded past the shoulder, and at Valentino, there were ornate gold versions. Pearls have been a popular trend for several
