April 22, 2020 at 06:08AM As one of the world’s most instantly recognizable supermodels, you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t know Cindy Crawford. Between her iconic ’90s ad campaigns and her memorable runway appearances, the model is adored and admired the world over. While many remember Crawford for her much-talked-about 1992 Pepsi commercial, we think the model should be equally lauded for her iconic nineties outfit choices. In fact, many of the looks the model donned all those years ago are so timeless, they are outfits we’d easily wear today. Between the vintage blue jeans, leather blazers, chic minis and slip skirts, Crawford’s early nineties wardrobe has proven to be just as on-trend in 2020 as it was three decades ago. In fact, many of the staples the supermodel relied on back then—such as straight-leg jeans and leather outwear—are hero pieces currently worn by Crawford’s model daughter Kaia Gerber. When it comes to models off-duty, it doesn’t get much better than this. Keep scrolling for five outfits Cindy Crawford wore in the nineties that are just as on-trend today. Style Notes: If this isn’t the definition of “effortless chic,” I’m not sure what is. Here, Cindy pairs a casual mini with a plain tee for the ultimate easy event ensemble. Style Notes: If this image wasn’t time-stamped to the nineties, I would have sworn this was Kaia Gerber. Straight-leg blue jeans and a leather blazer is a foolproof outfit combination Cindy Crawford’s daughter, Kaia Gerber, also relies upon

The Happy Print That Is Making Our Instagram Feeds Jollier
April 22, 2020 at 06:06AM Whether you want to credit it to TikTok or something else entirely, there is no denying that tie-dye is all over social media right now. While once considered a craft project, reserved for nineties art classes or at-home hobbyists, the trend has well and truly infiltrated the fashion industry in recent years, with designer labels—including Dior and Versace among them—creating their own kaleidoscopic iterations. From T-shirts and tracksuits to dresses and socks, colourful dye is being splashed across any and every item of clothing these days, creating a plethora of rainbow-hued options for tie-dye enthusiasts. The trend has taken off particularly across loungewear in recent months (for obvious reasons) as influencers, It girls and celebrities, are turning to happy hues when getting dressed at home. If the vibrancy of the trend feels somewhat overwhelming at first, I’d suggest starting small (like a tie-dye T-shirt or tank top) before completely investing in a full tie-dye look. Keep scrolling to see how influencers and editors are championing the trend and then shop our favourite tie-dye pieces below. Next up, the biggest S/S 20 fashion trends you need to know. Or, for a hit of print, I’ll be looking to the brand’s smocked midis and floral shirts. Ready? Scroll down to see my full edit. Style Notes: A pair of floral trousers will add a retro twist to basic tops this summer. Style Notes: The fashion crowd is officially
20 Sustainable Brands Our Editors Champion Every Day of the Year
April 22, 2020 at 05:00AM Sustainable fashion can be confusing. Is it vegan? Ethically produced? Environmentally friendly? Fair-trade? Is it a catch-all term for anything that relates to fashion that isn’t fast? The short answer is that it can be all those things. The long answer is that it’s much more complicated than that. Sustainable fashion pertains to the sourcing, production and distribution of the garment. The lifespan of a piece of clothing must be looked at from start to finish. It means understanding that organic cotton is better than regular cotton, as it doesn’t use pesticides or harmful chemicals that are bad for the skin. Also, manmade fabrics (such as polyester) are damaging to the environment, as they’re often made from plastic and are nonbiodegradable. While leather can be eco-friendly, it can still impact the environment due to the chemicals used to finish it. Then there’s the production: Are the clothes being made in an environment that’s safe for workers? For example, some synthetic dyes can be toxic to people using them during the manufacturing process and can cause health problems. Adding to this, another good question to ask is if the workers are paid fairly and correctly. Then, once made, how far is the garment travelling? What kind of carbon footprint in the brand creating? Elaine Welteroth in a Maggie Marilyn dress. All of these questions are vital if you want to know if a brand adheres to sustainable practices. And today on Earth Day it seems like a
18 Stylish Buys From Your Parents’ Favourite Hiking Brand
April 22, 2020 at 05:00AM If you’d have scrolled through the “tagged” tab of Patagonia’s Instagram account three years ago, you would’ve seen the following: ruddy-faced hikers perched on a mountain top, grinning anglers brandishing their latest catch and hardcore outdoorsy people carving spoons by their remote log cabin. Fashion influencers? Not so much. Fast-forward to 2020, and the brand’s feed is now dotted with younger, style-conscious individuals—aka a lesser-spotted breed in the world of adventure sportswear. Following on from last year’s foray into hiking boots and sandals (we’re looking at your Teva), it’s only natural that the rest of the outdoorsy family would follow. It seems as though lockdown has brought out a more practical approach amongst the fashion crowd, with fleeces, white tees and sliders making up a large proportion of their wardrobes this spring. We’ve gone from the odd token nod to a track sole or high-tech fabric to a full-on, survivalist mentality. Furthermore, with conscious consumption becoming an increasingly important consideration (happy Earth Day everyone!), Patagonia could not be more on the money. Long before sustainability became a trending twitter term, the brand was leading the way in its use of recycled fabrics, supply chain transparency and longevity—all items come with an “ironclad guarantee,” which means if you’re not happy with one of its products, or something doesn’t perform to your satisfaction, you can send it back for repair or replacement. Now that’s what we call an all-rounder. Scroll down to see the hiker buys we’re loving
