Makeup is something to enjoy, it’s not something you need. I want every person to feel beautiful exactly

Burberry Launches Animal Kingdom Pop-Up in Vancouver

September 01, 2020 at 04:02PM Today, Burberry is opening the first of its Animal Kingdom pop-up stores in Canada at Holt Renfrew in Vancouver. Punctuated by large-scale sculptures of monkeys and birds of paradise, the pop-up aims to welcome customers in to the world of Burberry and its long-standing connection to the animal kingdom. Since its birth, the brand has been represented by the emblem of a knight on a horse (a choice made by founder Thomas Burberry) – a code which current chief creative officer Riccardo Tisci has built upon since joining the house back in March of 2018. Photograph courtesy of Burberry Most recently, Tisci brought the Animal Kingdom theme to life in the brand’s first ever bag campaign featuring Bella Hadid who transformed into a panther for the shoot. In a release, the designer said, “Animals have always been a creative obsession and signature of mine,” so it’s fitting that he would bring this vision to life in-store. The pop-ups will house some of the brand’s signature products, including limited edition styles of each. The brand’s newest handbag silhouette, the Pocket Bag, will be on offer in the medium size in canvas with black, navy and dark green leather trims, in the mini size in canvas with orange and pink accents and in monogram-flocked colour pairings including yellow and blue, red and blue, yellow and orange and green and charcoal. The TB Bag, which was inspired by Thomas Burberry, will also be available in a variety of

How to set up your Peloton bike (or any spin bike!)

September 01, 2020 at 11:07AM Tips for setting up your Peloton bike (or any spin bike) with seat height, seat position, handlebar positions, and how to clip and unclip your pedals.  I’ve been participating in an exciting Instagram advice mission lately: helping reader friends set up their Peloton bikes. I’ve had the bike for two years but have taught cycling classes for 11 years now (WHAT), so quite a few people have reached out to me for help on how to set up their bikes. (One week, I helped four people set up their bikes via photos and video!) I feel like Peloton does a lot of things right, but when I first got the bike myself, I was so thankful that I was an advanced spinner, because otherwise I would have felt lost with the initial process. I didn’t feel like the setup video was very thorough or helpful. They breezed through a lot of the details but thankfully, I was easily able to set it up myself. I thought I’d make a video here for my friends who have recently purchased a Peloton or another spin bike or need to adjust their current settings. The right settings can make such a huge difference in how your ride feels and can also help to protect injury and pain in your knees, ankles, wrists, and low back. As always, be smart when you’re setting up any type of fitness equipment. Ask for someone to help you if you need it!

If You’re On the Hunt for New Knitwear—Start With These H&M Knits

September 01, 2020 at 11:00AM I think I speak for everyone when I say I’m relieved that we’re a third through this year—2020 can do one, as far as I’m concerned. As if hearing our collective exhaustion at the year that keeps on taking, the weather has shifted to be enjoyably cold (by that I mean crisp, bright sunshine with the occasional freezing wind). This means one thing: it’s knitwear season. While the summer was for loose cotton dresses, shorts and padded shoulder vests, now it’s all about investing in the knitwear we’ll be wearing well into 2021. Personally, I’ll be stocking up on those jumpers and cardigans I’ll wear for many years to come—think cream cable knits, grey cashmere and striped nautical-style pullovers.  There’s no doubt, however, that many of us are living on a tighter budget than before, but there are options. High-street favourite H&M has really delivered this season with a range of future classics that are primed for wearing with anything in your wardrobe. There’s a belted off-white cashmere cardigan and a greige thick ribbed knit which I know I’d wear all the time, but the piece I have my eye on is the cream knitted vest—wear oversized with a men’s shirt and leather trousers for the full 2020 look. Keep scrolling to see more knitwear gems from H&M. Next up, the biggest autumn/winter 2020 fashion trends to know.  Author Elinor Block | Whowhatwear Selected by CWC

September Journal Prompts + Facing Challenges

September 01, 2020 at 10:00AM I’ve been reading Glennon Doyle’s new book, Untamed and have been so inspired by it! She mentions the quote, “You can do hard things”, so I wanted to focus on overcoming challenges and tapping into your own strength for this month’s journal prompts. Life is hard right now for everyone. Sure “hard” looks different for everyone but we have to admit this season of life is challenging for us all in some way or another. Most of you know that I’m not naturally a positive thinker which isn’t the norm in our “think positive” society. It’s nice to see that we’re starting to embrace the idea that life doesn’t have to be all good, all the time. That there’s room for the challenges and that the exist for a reason. Whether is a new season of life, a hard transition or just a hard situation, I’m trying to embrace each shift. My goal is to be as mindful as possible and lean into the hard times so the good times feel even sweeter. Hard times always bring a perspective shift for me. I realize what actually matters and life seems to boil down to the bare necessities. 10 Journal Prompts […] The post September Journal Prompts + Facing Challenges appeared first on The Healthy Maven. 19 Beauty Products That Smell So Good You Might as Well Be at a Spa

July 05, 2020 at 08:30PM If I have one area of expertise within my field, it’s smellies. While some beauty editors pride themselves on their textbook knowledge of the epidermis or their Katie Jane Hughes–style makeup abilities (I have a bit of the former, and none of the latter), I pride myself on my ability to rate every great-smelling beauty product from 1 to10 on everything from texture and scent to results and efficacy, all from memory. It’s a bit niche, I know, but I’m not going to fight it. My love for baths and body care is no secret, and although I really do appreciate a lengthy ritual, it’s the mouth-watering scents that really do it for me. And sure, experts will always have something to say about heavy fragrances in products, but it’s important to remember that not all scented beauty products are made equal, with some being better for your skin than others. More recently, as I have found my stress levels rising and my mind and soul have demanded more “me” time than ever before, I have found myself reaching for my most-coveted smellies almost daily. I find that not only do they help bring some delight to otherwise mundane tasks (like scrubbing your entire body), but the scents themselves also help to evoke a feeling of calm and clarity.  And yes, there is some science behind why great-smelling beauty products make us feel good (it’s all to do with aromatherapy and hormones), but frankly, right now, I don’t think it
