May 28, 2020 at 06:30AM The best thing about being a beauty editor is that I get the opportunity to speak with some of the world’s top beauty experts basically every single day. From celebrity makeup artists to Harley Street surgeons, I am forever picking the brains of experts in a bid to learn everything there is to know about beauty. And, while picking up different makeup tips and tricks is wonderful, the one thing I am always most fascinated by is the sort of products skin experts swear by. There’s no doubt that shopping for skincare can be daunting and often frustrating, and not just because of the abundance of choice. All too often we are let down by miracle claims that don’t live up to their promises. And, while most medical skin experts and dermatologists insist that if you have serious skin concerns, you should always seek expert advice, there are a handful of accessible skincare brands that they wax lyrical about. From super-affordable cleansers and SPFs to clinical-grade serums, there are a number of brands and products that come highly recommended time and time again. With expert-approved ingredients, when it comes to the skincare brands that derms love, you better believe you’ll see results. Keep scrolling to discover the brands and products that dermatologists always recommend. French skincare is known for its glowing results, but La Roche-Posay really is in a league of its own. Much like all of the products to follow, its formulas are fuss-free and contain very few, what I like to

10 Outfits I Want to Copy for Dress-Up Friday
May 28, 2020 at 06:22AM We’ve all heard the phrase “all dressed up and nowhere to go,” but this year the term has been given entirely new meaning. With restrictions on social gatherings and forced closures of pubs, bars and restaurants, we all literally have nowhere to go, though that certainly hasn’t stopped our favourite influencers and It girls from continuing to dress up. Between shimmering minidresses and floral embellished midis, influencers worldwide are persisting with putting on their finest even if it is simply to bake a cake, work from home or lounge on the couch. A few weeks back, Who What Wear UK introduced Dress-Up Fridays, an initiative which encourages us all to put on something extra special to celebrate the conclusion of the week (and ensure we’re getting out of our activewear at least once every seven days). And with influencers constantly sharing images of themselves at home in bright, beautiful dresses, it couldn’t be easier to find inspiration to put on you Friday best. Between Emili Sindlev in Ganni, Monikh in Rixo and Nnenna Echem in Who What Wear Collection, you don’t have to look very far to track down a gorgeous dress. So without further ado, here are 10 outfits I want to copy this week for dress-up Fridays, even if I am just sitting in my living room. Next up, the biggest S/S 20 fashion trends you need to know. The Surprising Store I’m Turning to for Co-Ords This Summer
May 28, 2020 at 06:06AM While I would hardly call myself a loungewear enthusiast, the recent time spent at home has almost been enough to change my mind. Historically, I have never prioritised the need for elevated or polished-looking loungewear, choosing to instead spend my money on clothing I’d wear outside of the house. Up until now (I am embarrassed to admit), I have resorted to mostly wearing loungewear in the form of tattered joggers and oversize T-shirts, though there’s nothing like a lockdown to help change my mind. In recent months, I’ve found myself drawn to smarter looking loungewear pieces and, in particular, have been browsing coordinated sets in an effort to create looks that feel slightly more cohesive than the old leggings and any-jumper-you-can-find combo. Enter Nasty Gal. The brand has created an entire collection of loungewear co-ords that not only take the thought out of at-home dressing but also let you look somewhat fashion-forward. From cropped knit cardigans and wide-leg trousers to cosy jumpers and knit shorts, Nasty Gal’s collection of loungewear is polished enough for your work Zoom calls, yet comfortable enough to laze on the couch in. And with combinations a plenty (I have my eye on its beige V-neck jumper and shorts set), there are options for whatever the British weather may throw at us. I’m Not Really Shopping, But I’m Tempted by These 9 Practical Summer Items
May 28, 2020 at 06:00AM Like most people at the moment, I am being very cautious with my spending and certainly don’t want within my role as a fashion editor to promote buying anything throwaway or needless (for both financial and sustainable reasons). With every story I write, I’m always looking to feature items that have longevity and will outlive the rapid trend cycle that can make certain items dated after mere months. For summer, there are a few basics in particular that I would like to add to my own wardrobe, as they are timeless but not so plain that they could be considered boring. They are also all practical and things you can wear at home, on a balcony or in the garden and not feel too dressed up when you have nowhere to technically go. Personally, I keep wearing linen shirts, comfortable shorts and throw-on dresses for my walks around my corner of London. If you feel you might be missing some summer basics in your wardrobe, and are struggling to know what to wear in this heatwave, keep scrolling for the nine practical items you can rely on year after year (whether it’s a lockdown summer or not). This is the one summer item I have bought myself this year. Opt for light cotton and linen fabrics in white and beige hues. Tennis shorts have become an unlikely trending item this summer and look amazing with just a white T-shirt or shirt. If you want something
I Just Found So Much Chic Swimwear on the High Street
May 28, 2020 at 06:00AM First thing’s first: Yes, I do acknowledge the irony of offering up a swimwear edit while many of us are in lockdown and our holiday plans have been put on ice. Well, I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’ve found myself poring over the latest bikini drops, and I’m even adding a couple to my basket. Weird, right? Regardless of whether you have a garden, a balcony, a nearby patch of grass or just a window, I have to admit that there’s something unexpectedly escapist about throwing on a swimsuit, grabbing a cold drink and basking in the sun (remember to wear SPF, kids). It just so happens that the high street’s swimwear offering is off the charts good this year, and brands such as Monki and COS have been creating expensive-looking, clean-lined styles that could easily be mistaken for designer iterations. Highlights include Monki’s mix-and-match gingham bottoms and sheared bikini top, ASOS’ fuller bust rust-coloured two-piece and COS’ chic asymmetric navy swimsuit. Scroll down to see and shop the high-street swimwear buys that were made for window sunbathing. Small But Mighty: 49 Summer Buys From the Coolest Independent Brands
May 28, 2020 at 06:00AM Whether you’re a shoe hoarder or a jacket fanatic, a dress lover or a bag addict, it’s safe to say that there is an independent brand to cater to your wardrobe needs. Thanks to word of mouth and the power of social media, theever-diversifying fashion industry is finally allowing niche labels to come to the fore. Big brands don’t have a monopoly over the landscape, as many customers are wanting to invest in original design and lesser-known styles. Sadly, some of these labels are being hit by the current crisis, and as a publication, we’re doing our very best to support the talent we love in any way possible. That’s why we’ve dedicated our end-of-month shopping gallery to these independent brands. Honestly, we were spoilt for choice, and we wish we could include every brand we came across online (although that would turn into a long article), but we managed to whittle it down to 49 summer-ready pieces. Of course, we understand that many of you are tightening the purse strings right now, but we would love for you to show your support by giving your favourite independent brand some airtime on social media, posting a nice comment on its feed, or even just giving it a like—every little bit helps! But if you happen to be in need of a little fashion-based pick-me-up this month, scroll down to see the pieces we’re loving this summer. Enjoy! Kensington Palace Makes Rare Statement to Refute Kate Middleton Cover Story
May 27, 2020 at 10:04PM Kensington Palace rarely makes statements regarding the press, however it did so today following the publication of a cover story by Tatler on Kate Middleton. On Monday of this week, the British magazine released its newest issue with the Duchess of Cambridge on the cover with the cover line, Catherine the Great: How the crisis made Kate the Kingmaker. The accompanying cover story featured quotes from sources reportedly close to the Cambridges about how they are adjusting to their new, fuller roles since Harry and Meghan stepped down from their senior royal roles earlier this year. The piece said that Middleton felt “exhausted and trapped” and is “furious about the larger workload” adding that “she’s working as hard as a top CEO who has to be wheeled out all the time, without the benefits of boundaries and plenty of holidays.” The piece also hinted at a feud between Meghan and Kate ahead of the royal wedding in 2018 over whether or not the bridesmaids should wear tights. Kensington Palace refuted the article in a public statement writing, “This story contains a swathe of inaccuracies and false misrepresentations which were not put to Kensington Palace prior to publication.” Tatler released its own statement shortly thereafter writing that it “stands behind the reporting of Anne Pasternak and her sources” and that “the fact they are denying they ever knew [about the cover story] is categorically false” as the magazine says it approached them “months ago” to “work together on it.”
