Gigi Hadid and 9 Other Models Who Walked the Runway While Pregnant

May 21, 2020 at 05:09PM Gigi Hadid recently confirmed she is expecting her first child with long-term boyfriend Zayn Malik. And now, the model has revealed that she was “a few months” pregnant when walking the runway at New York Fashion Week back in February. In an Instagram Live with celebrity makeup artist Erin Parsons for Maybelline yesterday, Parsons and Hadid touched on the accusations that the model has had cheek fillers, to which Hadid replied, “People think I do fillers on my face and that’s why my face is round. I have had cheeks since I was born.” She added that speculation increased in February as she appeared on the runways. “Especially fashion month – when I was a few months preggo, you know? Parsons then queried how Hadid’s face will change over her last trimester (she’s currently six months pregnant), to which Hadid replied, “I have the cheeks already so there’s not a lot to fill in.” Hadid isn’t the first model to walk a runway pregnant. In fact, she joins plenty of her fellow Victoria’s Secret models as having done so. Here’s 12 times models walked a runway whilst pregnant (including Slick Woods, who was actually in labour at the time): <div class="sjm-attachment-carousel–header gallery-container–default" data-slick='{"speed":400,"adaptiveHeight":true,"variableWidth":false,"centerMode":true,"centerPadding":"0","slidesToShow":1,"lazyLoad":"ondemand","prevArrow":"Previous”,”nextArrow”:”Next”}’ data-simplemodal=’false’ > Photograph courtesy of Imaxtree Photograph courtesy of Imaxtree Photograph courtesy of Imaxtree Photo by JP Yim/Getty Images for Savage X Fenty Photo by Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images for Victoria’s Secret Photograph courtesy of Imaxtree Photo by Victor VIRGILE/Gamma-Rapho via Getty Images Photo

Here’s Where Canadians Plan to Travel Post-Lockdown

May 21, 2020 at 02:55PM Unfortunately the only travel-related activity we’re doing right now is… cancelling all the plans we’d made for the summer. According to new data from Booking.com, interest in domestic getaways has risen from 33% to 51%, with local properties in Canada appearing more frequently on travel ‘wish lists’ created on their website in March and April 2020 as compared to the same months in 2019. Degrassi Alum Sarah Barrable-Tishauer’s Dance, Dance Revolution

May 21, 2020 at 02:00PM Ask any introvert who’s been so carried away by a killer groove that she’s abandoned her inhibitions and busted a move in the middle of a crowded floor: At its core, dance music is about tapping into some sort of primal impulse. So it’s one of the great ironies of club culture that the tracks that spark maximum joy (and countless carpool karaoke sessions) for so many—that is, singalong pop songs— are considered kryptonite to DJs. “There’s a degree of seriousness that goes along with DJing in the dance-music community,” explains Sarah Barrable-Tishauer, a former Degrassi: The Next Generation star (fans will remember her as the fiercely ambitious Liberty Van Zandt) who performs under the name Me Time. “You don’t play music with lyrics, and you don’t play what’s popular.” Much to the joy of the hundreds (maybe thousands) of revelers who’ve danced like no one’s watching while she’s behind the decks, Me Time has no time for such arbitrary rules. Make no mistake: The Toronto-based DJ takes her craft incredibly seriously. She just happens to also take seriously the belief that a dance floor should be a safe, supportive and positive space for everyone—regardless of gender, race, class…or musical proclivities. She ended an early-autumn set at Toronto’s Cherry Beach with the heart-surging strains of Cher’s Believe; during another recent gig, she gleefully dropped J.Lo’s Waiting for Tonight into the mix. “These are the moments when people get to toss away their attitudes and belt from

Knix Expands Shade and Size Ranges With the Launch of its Groundbreaking New Knix Nudes Collection

May 20, 2020 at 05:26PM Canadian intimates brand Knix is extending its shade range today with the launch of Knix Nudes. The new collection features three of the brand’s best-sellers – the Wing Woman Contour Bra, Leakproof Underwear and Thigh Saver – in five beautiful nude shades, inspired by feedback from its customers. In fact, the brand worked with a diverse group of women to finalize the inclusive five shade range, which it says matches an “array of skin tones.” The collection, which has been a year and a half in the making, also features one pretty giant first: the brand is the first underwear label to ever offer leakproof underwear in neutral colourways. The brand conducted a poll of its Instagram followers and found that 87 per cent of women avoid wearing light colours when on their period, and even amongst those that do opt for a lighter colour, 92 per cent worry about a leak. Photograph courtesy of Knix “Wearing light colours is always tricky for women because finding intimates that match your skin properly can be tough, add your period on top of that, and it can feel next to impossible,” says Joanna Griffiths, the brand’s CEO and founder, in a release. “We are conditioned as young girls to think that having a period leak while wearing white is the end of the world. Even with the progress that we have made as a society not to fear menstruation but to celebrate it, we are still seeing

100% Silk’s New Pieces Champion Global Craft Techniques

May 20, 2020 at 03:00PM “Folk textiles are a repository of local history, developed from a social need, and I like to keep that in mind when I’m developing a textile,” says Lee Dekel, designer of 100% Silk and proprietor of a Toronto multi-brand boutique by the same name. Describing her new collection as “sensual, easy and talismanic,” Dekel recalls the trips that played a part in its creation. “It came together over numerous visits to Ghana and Uzbekistan,” she says. “I do so much design work in the sampling process because the artisans have a very deep knowledge and they often introduce ideas to me that I would never have thought of. A lot of the magic also happens by accident. For instance, while hunting for cotton in a market in Accra, I stumbled upon a group of tie-dyers from Mali. I ended up enlisting them to make a shibori-dyed background fabric for the Saltpond print.” The cheerful motif features a charming mix of elements, including sea horses, coral and shells— all things that evoke warmer climes. Photography by Luna Khods. 100% Silk’s new designs aren’t the first time Dekel has worked with craftspeople internationally, but Spring 2020 presents the brand’s most abundant offering of garments to date. “All of the textile processes I work with are slow and exacting, so I had to make sure the artisans had the capacity to produce a full collection before introducing it to the world. It has taken about three years to

May 20, 2020 at 02:00PM We’re officially in Month 3 of self-isolation with an uncertain road ahead but for some much-needed inspiration, FASHION is reaching out to some of our favourite Canadians to get a peek into how they’re living their lives in lockdown (remember: #StayHomeSaveLives). Each week, keep an eye out for new self-isolation diaries from actors, designers, influencers and artists who are riding this uncertain time out with us. Here’s how they’re doing it. What are your respective living situations, and how are you balancing work and family? Elisa: I am living with my hubby and three boys – let’s just say there is never a dull or quiet moment in the house. They are making these eight weeks very entertaining. To be honest I am usually always on the go traveling so it has been a gift to be with them every night for dinner. I am hoping I will be able to maintain this in our new normal. Eran: I am at home with my eight month old daughter Skye and my beautiful wife. I have absolutely loved spending all of this time together, it’s been a blessing. I

19 Pairs of Gold Hoops to Buy Now and Wear Forever

May 19, 2020 at 07:50PM If there’s one item we’ve learned is a staple during quarantine, it’s a pair of gold hoops. Just take a quick scroll through the feeds of Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Hailey Bieber or Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and you’ll soon see that fashion’s most stylish figures are rarely without a pair of gold hoops – whether they’re taking their dog for a walk, taking part in a video call or hosting their own high fashion photoshoot at home. And therein lies the beauty of the gold hoop – casual enough for everyday but equally dressy enough to jazz up just about any outfit with little to no effort required. And with social distancing protocols still in place across Canada and many of us still working from home for the foreseeable, there’s no better time to add a pair of gold hoops to your line-up to help you transition from work calls to (virtual) wine time with friends. Harry Styles’ Watermelon Sugar Film Clip is Full of Fashion Moments

May 19, 2020 at 06:02PM Harry Styles knew the world needed something right now, and so the former One Direction member released his newest single Watermelon Sugar overnight. Filmed pre-COVID, the film clip for the song begins with a tribute reading, “This video is dedicated to touching,” before proceeding into three minutes of Styles and friends eating watermelon on a beach while sitting very, very close. Styles himself added a warning to his Instagram post writing, “Do not try this at home. Practice social distancing.” And whilst the song is undoubtedly on its way to becoming a summer anthem, our favourite part of the Watermelon Sugar film clip was the fashion, naturally. Known for his boundary-pushing style, Styles and his longtime stylist Harry Lambert curated four standout looks for the video, including a head-to-toe Gucci ensemble consisting of a cropped sweater, jeans and a fringed scarf. See the best fashion moments from Watermelon Sugar below: Rocking a floral print shirt from Bode, a pearl necklace and round, clear-lensed Gucci sunglasses, Styles is literally summer in a photograph here.
