FYI: This Is How Our Beauty Editors Execute an Expert-Approved Facial at Home
April 23, 2020 at 05:00AM Giving yourself a celeb-caliber facial at home might sound intimidating, but we’re here to break the joyful news that it definitely doesn’t have to be. Sure, there are a number of steps involved and it’s definitely the kind of self-care ritual to indulge in when you have some extra time on your hands, but we’re fully convinced our at-home routine is *almost* as transformative as an in-office booking. (That said, you’ll save yourself a large booking fee and some painful extractions!) As beauty editors, Courtney and I are well-versed in the art of home facials. We’ve tested enough products, chatted up enough dermatologists, and experienced plenty of professional-level treatments to know how to re-create a truly indulgent glow-up from the comfort of our own homes. That said, to back our regimens with some extra expert guidance, I asked one of L.A.’s most sought-after celeb facialists, Candace Marino, to break down a 10/10 at-home experience step by step. Then, Courtney and I filled in the blanks with all the specific formulas we rely on no matter the state that stress, lack of sleep, or one too many glasses of wine throws our skin into. So take a deep breath, tap that diffuser, light a candle, turn on your humidifier, put together a playlist, and have at it. Your expert-led guide for how to execute the facial of all facials at home is just below. Keep scrolling! First and foremost, Marino says to start your at-home facial
‘Too Hot To Handle’ cast update – CNN
‘Too Hot To Handle’ cast update – CNN — Read on https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/23/entertainment/too-hot-to-handle-netflix/index.html Australian star Harry Jowsey certainly wasn’t shy on Netflix‘s new dating series, Too Hot To Handle. The model, 22, broke many of the show’s rules forbidding sexual contact, including being fined $6,000 for receiving oral sex from co-star Francesca Farago. Harry told Daily Mail Australia from Los Angeles: ‘I thought in all honesty that there’s no way that anyone’s caught that – we thought we got away with it.’
5 ways to bring a sense of the great outdoors inside using visual ASMR
March 19, 2020 at 12:00PM by CWC One thing keeping me going during this period of social distancing in light of the COVID-19 pandemic is the daffodils. I live next to a park, and I can see the blooms from my window—cheerful, bright, and lively, absolute rebels to the feeling of chaos that’s otherwise sweeping the world. I’m grateful for those daffodils and their promises of spring, but I also wish I knew how to bring nature indoors during this time so I could enjoy more than just a limited window view of said flowers. As Carla Marie Manly, PhD, clinical psychologist and author of Joy From Fear, points out, being stuck inside can do a real number on mental health. “The sense of confinement and immobilization can be extremely difficult for people to bear. And for those who are accustomed to active lifestyles, being confined inside can be especially anxiety-inducing and depressing,” Dr. Manly says. That’s why if you can’t go forest bathing over a long weekend or, hell, even get some sunshine right now, you may feel as though you’re losing a sense of control. Nature inherently provides us with a sense of stability, and relaxation, so it’s a detrimental part of living a well life. “When we are confined indoors, it can be truly important to bring nature into our living spaces as much as possible.” —clinical psychologist Carla Marie Manly, PhD “When we see ‘green,’ the brain immediately feels soothed and relaxed,” says Dr. Manly. “Hospitals and
What Were Monica Geller’s 7 Erogenous Zones on ‘Friends’? Let’s Take a Look — VIDEO
By Mallory Schlossberg There’s a classic episode of Friends in which Monica explains to Chandler that there are seven female erogenous zones. Each zone has a corresponding number, and she maps out different combinations (a-one-two-three!) that could potentially lead to pleasure. Then she launches into a euphoric “SEVEN. SEVEN. SEVEN!” resulting in thunderous studio audience laughter and applause, and us going: What is that!! I want a seven-gasm! Women who watched the show thought, “Waaaaait. What am I missing in the bedroom? Seven zones? I’m ditching Cosmo for NBC, bitches,” while men vehemently committed to finding they mysterious seventh zone, wherever the hell it may be (in the nose?). It gave them a new mission beside finding a woman’s clitoris. (Hint: that’s probably what seven was, anyway.) Even if we can assume what “seven” most likely was, we’ve still got six other numbers to deal with. And since the Internet exists, this internal wonderment has come to full discussion on the Web. Women and men have taken to Yahoo! Answers, the beacon of lowbrow Internet discussions, to ponder Monica’s zones. When in doubt, going to the Internet to discover the answers to your most pressing sexual pop culture questions, is never a bad idea. Anyway, since Friends is hitting the 10 year anniversary of its finale, this question seemed worthy of revisiting. But first, let’s revisit that scene: [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdK6LVDI3kg?enablejsapi=1&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bustle.com&widgetid=1] skdilawar on YouTube Alright, Internet, tell us what’s up! Does living like a rom-com lead guarantee happily ever after? I tried it to find out
March 13, 2020 at 12:00PM by CWC After watching the highly-anticipated second installment of Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (TATBILB), cheekily entitled P.S. I Still Love You, I started thinking about what makes romantic comedies the satisfying viewing equivalent of biting into a piece of 10-layer chocolate cake. They’re full of predictable tropes like implausible meet-cutes and guaranteed happily ever afters, but they somehow always make you ravenous for more and more bites of the same. And after watching that movie’s bookish protagonist Lara Jean Covey once again find herself in the arms of high-school heartthrob Peter Kavinsky, I started to brainstorm ways to bring that movie magic to my IRL love life. Because I, much like Lara Jean, love love and refuse to believe that it’s “nothing like how it’s portrayed in the movies.” Thus began my off-screen romantic comedy dating experience, led by lawyer-turned-relationship-therapist Rachel DeAlto, JD. DeAlto sent me a list of five rom-com assignments to complete throughout the week (think: sprinkling rose petals on the bed) so I could see just how romantic I felt both toward myself and my boyfriend. Would the clichés of this romantic comedy dating style stand their ground under the harsh lights of reality? I tried it for a week to see what happened. Here’s what happened the week I tried romantic comedy dating to manifest a happily ever after. Task 1: Create a lovesick soundtrack for my life The TATBILB sequel really (and I mean really) leans
Working from home? Here’s what productivity experts say you should do to stay on task
March 11, 2020 at 09:00PM by CWC Spoiler alert: not everybody has the luxury of a home office. Not everybody even has the luxury of a desk. And while working from home certainly has its perks (working with my dog? Yes, please), it can be a challenge without a defined workspace. Temptations like Netflix loom and distracting roommates linger, which can result in productivity and motivational challenges. Not to mention, there’s just a different that comes with working in an office. “When you commute to your office and sit at your desk all day, see people, and then commute home, you feel like you’ve ‘done’ something,” says Laura Vanderkam, author of several time management and productivity books, including Off the Clock and Juliet’s School of Possibilities. “When you work from home, you don’t have that. So you judge the day solely on what you’ve done. If that’s not much, well, that doesn’t feel so good.” The good news is there are plenty of tips to “hack” your way into a productive work from home day. Whether it’s setting a clear schedule or taking a mid-day shower (talk about a WFH perk), these work from home tips from productivity experts that can help maximize your remote work routine. These are the work from home tips that actually make a difference in your productivity 1.
