Fenty Celebrates “Freedom, Diversity, Unity, and Solidarity” With Its Latest Campaign
June 09, 2020 at 10:12PM Rihanna‘s luxury brand Fenty is back with its new collection. The singer released her latest campaign imagery, which was taken by London-based photographer Lea Colombo. It features models, artists, and musicians who “embody the bright spark energy of the release.” The collection, called “Release 6-20,” will be released in three separate drops across June, starting with Drop 1, which will be available on Fenty’s website on June 11. “In a time where fighting for global freedoms takes center stage, this release speaks to a generation that is a different kind of creative, and a different kind of rebellious,” the brand’s press release stated. The collection is inspired by “decades of youth aesthetics and styles that emerged during periods of steep social change, each part of the month-long release celebrates a different facet of youth, expressed through varied style cues.” If you look at the imagery, you’ll notice psychedelic prints and many ’90s subculture references throughout the collection. We saw some of our favorite nostalgic trends like tie-dye prints, baggy rave silhouettes, grunge hoodies, and formfitting asymmetric dresses showcased. They also capture runway images and shoot editorials for major mags like i-D, Paper, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vogue, all while telling their own stories. Ahead, you’ll find people like Tyler Mitchell, who, at 23, was the first Black photographer in history to shoot the cover of American Vogue – and it was Beyoncé’s September issue, no less. Then there’s Darrel Hunter, the face behind street style site ModeHunter, which you probably follow regularly during Fashion Week. Some of these artists – who are also filmmakers, directors, and stylists, BTW – are currently showcasing their own exhibitions, have published or are working on their own books (we see you, Mahaneela Choudhury-Reid and Shaniqwa Jarvis!), and are focused on advancing and representing the Black community now more than ever. British Vogue Auctions Models’ Wardrobes to Raise Money For NHS Charities Together and the NAACP
June 09, 2020 at 03:00PM British Vogue is teaming up with luxury resale site Hardly Ever Worn It and 23 of the world’s favorite supermodels to raise money for NHS Charities Together and the NAACP (The National Association For the Advancement of Colored People). “The Way We Wore” auction, which began on Tuesday, June 9, at 9 a.m. ET, includes one coveted fashion item from each of the models’ luxury-filled wardrobes, and will be available to bid on for 72 hours. Models supporting this great initiative include: Adut Akech, Amber Valletta, Candice Swanepoel, Ashley Graham, Bella Hadid, Christy Turlington, Gigi Hadid, Zayn Malik, Helena Christensen, Imaan Hammam, Irina Shayk, Xiao Wen Ju, Joan Smalls, Karlie Kloss, Kate Moss, Lily Aldridge, Mariacarla Boscono, Karen Elson, Paloma Elsesser, Pooja Mor, Rianne Van Rompaey, Shalom Harlow, and Stella Maxwell. “We asked 23 of the biggest models to photograph themselves at home in pieces that were special to them, and subsequently donate to the auction,” said Sarah Harris, British Vogue‘s deputy editor and fashion features director, in a video post on Instagram.
