Over the weekend, J Lo posted a lengthy caption about being grateful alongside a series of beautiful shots; she can now also add acrobat to her resume, I guess! Of course, the minidress in its ivory shade – with elegant details such as dipped sides, pleats at the waist, and a full skirt – reminded us of a very simple bridal look. And for J Lo, this vibe is a breath of fresh air – it’s relatable. (Perhaps even especially relatable to brides who have recently opted for no-frill wedding ceremonies due to COVID-19, tying the knot in their backyard on a warm spring day in a maxi dress). Met Gala 2020: How to Watch Vogue’s Digital Fashion Event “A Moment With the Met”
May 04, 2020 at 02:46PM The Costume Institute’s spring 2020 exhibition “About Time: Fashion and Duration” is postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), but we’re still getting a (virtual) Met Gala. To mark the first Monday in May, Vogue is live streaming a digital fashion event, A Moment With the Met, exclusively on YouTube. While we wait patiently for the opening of the Costume Institute’s newest exhibition on 29 October, Vogue‘s A Moment With the Met promises an intimate evening with “a special performance by Florence + The Machine and a DJ set by Virgil Abloh”. The event kicks off on Monday, 4 May, at 6pm ET/10pm GMT on the magazine’s American YouTube channel. Normal People: Someone Made an Instagram Account Purely to Thirst Over Connell’s Chain
May 03, 2020 at 07:34PM Listen, Hulu’s Normal People is a sexy show. There’s no attempt in hiding that fact. The series embraces its eroticism with consent-driven interactions and portrayals of real intimacy. But like the words that go unsaid between Marianne and Connell (played by Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal) there is some real, ahem, power in the not-so-obvious steamy additions. Take Connell’s silver chain, for example. Who knew a simple accessory would compel viewers to “emotionally attach” themselves to a piece of metal and create a fan Instagram account? In Sally Rooney’s novel, upon which the series is based, Marianne encounters Connell wearing an “unadorned silver neckchain he’s had since school.” Paul decided to adopt this accessory for himself (likely with the help of costume designer Lorna Marie Mugan) to stay true to his character. Much like Connell, the chain is subdued, the opposite of ostentacious, but once it catches your attention – good luck. Clearly it had an impact on fans, since someone made a “Connell’s chain” fan account on Instagram mere days after the show premiered.
