10 Shoe Brands That Are Just As Popular Now as They Were in the ’90s

April 29, 2020 at 06:40PM It’s been more than 20 years since the ’90s came to a close, and yet we’re more obsessed than ever with the decade. Our fashion has never felt more influenced by the trends that ruled so many years ago than it does now. Pretty much every look we’re obsessed with lately seems to have ’90s roots: baggy jeans, cute cardigans, slip dresses, tube tops, bucket hats, platforms, chunky sandals. We could keep going . . . On the topic of shoe trends, it dawned on us that so many of our current favorites – of the sneakers, sandal, and boot variety – are from specific brands, including New Balance, Reebok, Adidas, Dr. Martens, Converse, and Nike. All of these labels were hugely popular in the ’90s, whether it was a cult-loved combat boot, hip high-top, or time-honored trainer. So, we thought it’d be fun to roundup some of the most popular ’90s shoe brands that are still totally on-trend today! Plus, we’re shopping out some of the most beloved styles, which range from clean and classic to a little more fashion-forward and, of course, retro-inspired. Keep scrolling for the shoe brands that made our top-ten list and shop your favorites; most of these come in under $100! Continue Reading… Author Laura Lajiness | Popsugar Selected by CWC

Today We Learned Billy Porter’s Meme-Ready, Mechanical Hat Was Inspired By Billie Eilish

April 29, 2020 at 06:03PM As the saying goes, great minds think alike – perhaps more so when they share the same name. In a recent virtual appearance on The Tonight Show, Billy Porter revealed that the inspiration behind his meme-ready, mechanical hat at the 2020 Grammys had actually been inspired by Billie Eilish. “It came about because when we were at the American Music Awards, I was right behind Billie Eilish on the red carpet, and she was wearing this Gucci veil. It was so cute,” Billy told Jimmy Fallon. (It’s worth noting that Billie’s veil that evening was actually by Burberry, but she would later go on to wear a Gucci face mask to the Grammys.) Though Billy loved the look, he was hesitant because, “I’m never wearing something that covers up my face. I’ve waited too long for this moment. Folks need to see my face.” “Somebody’s gotta do it.” That’s when his stylist, Sam Ratelle, offered a perfect solution: “What if the veil opened and closed electronically?” And thus, the retractible fringe hat was born from Sarah Sokol Millinery. Billy added, “Somebody’s gotta do it.” Watch Billy reflect on the memorable red carpet moment ahead, and then browse a few photos of both the look and its original inspiration. Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, and More Create Branded Cloth Masks to Help Musicians During the Coronavirus

April 29, 2020 at 05:06PM Some of your favorite singers are doing their part to help support the music industry during the COVID-19 crisis. Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, and Justin Bieber are just some of the A-listers who are teaming up with Bravado, a music merch company, to create branded cloth masks. Like buying a band tee after watching a concert, Bravado started the We’ve Got You Covered initiative, where the company will be creating merch cotton masks for fans around the world. The best part about this? All proceeds from purchases will be donated to various charities supporting the music industry such as Musicares. Justin and Billie, who are veteran performers, know how canceling tours and shows can affect the finances of up-and-coming singers. We were excited to learn that 100 percent of proceeds from these branded face masks will go to helping these musicians in their time of need. So if you’ve wanted to rep your favorite artist while supporting a really great cause, here’s your chance. Each reusable cotton mask is $15 and can be bought through We’ve Got You Covered’s website. Keep reading to see the masks and shop them if you’re feeling inspired. I Own 8 Blazers and Keep Wearing This Plaid Boyfriend Blazer on Repeat

April 29, 2020 at 04:20PM When it comes to shopping for blazers, the boyfriend blazer is in a category of its own. Where the traditional blazer is typically used to polish and elevate an outfit, the boyfriend blazer can do so much more. Suiting is huge right now, and if you think about the boyfriend blazer and matching trousers as a modern way to do suiting, you can take that same jacket and wear it with everything else in your closet. When tossed over your favorite white t-shirt, you can look approachable yet buttoned up, and when worn over a band t-shirt, you can instantly give off a more casual vibe. When I spotted Old Navy’s Patterned Boyfriend Blazer ($36, originally $50) on sale, I knew I had to try it out. Here are three ways I styled it. And let me tell you, I am in LOVE with it! Emily Ratajkowski’s Sheer Crop-Top Swimsuits Are Going to Sell Out Like That *Snaps*

April 29, 2020 at 04:13PM Before you assume I’m going to show up on the beach one day in totally see-through attire, I will probably wear my triangle string bikini underneath the new sheer crop tops Emily Ratajkowski just put out for Inamorata. Because yes, these tops can easily be double-layered. And how damn cool are they? Available in a checkered print with a mannequin pattern and Emily’s brand name, it seems like these sets will come in two colorways: brown and tan or pink and marigold (my personal preference). Once I get my hands on one, I’ll be counting down the days until I can finally wear it. Emily will also be dropping sheer cover-ups and pants in a ’70s-inspired color palette, perfect for throwing on over your suit or when you’re spending quality time in bed with your good friend Netflix (I truly think these pieces can double as weekend loungewear). While the supermodel, activist, and designer – who’s also offering a mask donation option on her website right now so her team can produce more medical supplies – hasn’t promised a drop date yet, we’re keeping our eyes and ears open. Scroll through to see all the shots from the new collection Emily is teasing (warning: some are NSFW), and try to imagine just how quickly this stuff is going to sell out when it’s live on the site. I’m already waiting in line. Related: As Emily Ratajkowski Promised, Her Inamorata Lingerie Line Is Sexy and Sweet

Sabrina the Teenage Witch’s Style Is Pure ’90s Magic – Here Are 15 Outfits to Prove It

April 28, 2020 at 10:10PM Sabrina the Teenage Witch was one of the biggest shows from the ’90s for a reason. The hit ABC series catapulted Melissa Joan Hart, aka Sabrina Spellman, into our lives and hearts. While the show offered up tons of relatable moments with a comedic – and magical – twist, it provided us with a ton of outfit inspiration, too. I can’t tell you the amount of times I looked in the mirror and tried to snap my fingers like Sabrina in hopes of using magical powers to change my outfit on a whim. Sadly, that day never came (shocking, I know), but I know I’m not the only one who was completely envious of Sabrina’s ability to switch from one trendy outfit to the next with one flick of her wrist. If you take a look back, you’ll notice that Sabrina’s wardrobe was pure ’90s gold. In the show, she was seen in some of the decade’s biggest trends that are actually back in style in 2020. I’m still not over her outfit when she met Britney Spears; they danced in matching crop tops and high-waisted jeans. Keep reading to see that and 14 of my other favorite looks to see what I’m talking about. These Iconic Movie Moments Make Me Want to Live in Sweatpants Forever

April 28, 2020 at 08:11PM Right now, I would be living in my sweatpants whether or not we have great movie moments to thank for inspiration. Even if Instagram didn’t exist, where you can score hundreds of outfit ideas for your loungewear, and even if retailers weren’t putting out adorable, affordable co-ord sets, I’d still be in my sweatpants, because sweatpants are cozy and comfortable. They make staying home for long periods of time feel a little bit more doable. There they are, my sweatpants, peeking out of my drawer like a warm hug waiting for an embrace. Even though this is what sweatpants mean to me right now, it’s nice to look back on their movie history and reminisce about how, at one point, they were used as a tool to help depict someone’s character. The Parent Trap immediately comes to mind – the difference between how Hallie and Annie Parker each styled their camp sweats was so telling, Hallie with a headband and Adidas sneakers and Annie with a popped collar. For me, Danny Zuko in his gray tracksuit is somehow the most iconic. He changed out of his signature T-Bird leather jacket to try out for high school sports in this look, all in the name of impressing Sandy. I never knew sweatpants could be so romantic! But these aren’t the only movie moments I’m appreciating right now as I look back on the characters who have really owned this look before me. I have to give

This Adorable Maxi Dress You Keep Seeing on Instagram Is Only $12 Right Now

April 28, 2020 at 07:45PM Just like doing my hair or spending extra time grooming my eyebrows, putting in the extra effort to find something cute to wear – even if I’m just working from home and in sweats – has the ability to affect my mood. There’s certainly no replacement for stylish loungewear, but I was curious as to what would happen if I challenged myself to wear a dress while working from home – weather dependent, of course. In part because I kept seeing this adorable printed maxi dress in my Instagram feed, which I’ll link to ahead, but also because I was just genuinely curious about whether I’d feel silly wearing a dress inside, or if I’d love it. I’m happy to report that last week, I wore a thin maxi dress inside three times! Not only was I completely comfortable (important note that I only wore easy-breezy dresses; nothing formfitting), but exuded a bit more pep throughout my day. I encourage you to take a break from your usual loungewear game and embark on a dress journey. If you need some shopping ideas, here’s the dress that got me in the mood – it’s on sale for $12, too!
