April 24, 2020 at 08:50PM If preserving your engagement ring is important to you – and I’m guessing it is – I present you everything you need to know about safekeeping, cleaning, and caring for your most special piece of jewelry. Trust me, your SO hopes you treat that thing like treasure! But this involves way more than just wearing it every day and being sure to show it off at the perfect angle in your next mirror selfie. I chatted with Sarah Dickinson, ecommerce and customer experience manager of Mociun, and Caitlin Mociun, designer and founder of Mociun. Mociun is a jewelry company you might recognize for its signature inimitable shapes and stone pairings. Caitlin’s engagement rings are handmade in New York City and especially unique. I figured the women behind such beautiful creations would have plenty of tips and tricks up their sleeves for taking care of bridal jewelry. Sure enough, both Sarah and Caitlin are armed with good advice, and they even gave me suggestions for protecting wedding bands, because not everyone wears an engagement ring, and that’s totally cool. Scroll through to read all their helpful dos and don’ts, and you’ll feel like a jewelry know-it-all in no time. I’m Only Wearing Dresses This Week, and It’s Making Me Happy
April 24, 2020 at 07:50PM After reading about people opting to wear comfortable and stylish dresses while they work from home as a way to change up the routine of reaching for cute loungewear, I became intrigued. Would that feel weird or liberating? Wearing a dress while staying indoors may seem unnecessary, but it doesn’t have to feel fussy or silly. If you find dresses that are just as comfortable as wearing matching sweats or soft t-shirts I’d argue that it’s a much easier way to get dressed. Old Navy has hundreds of stylish dresses right now – many of which are of the throw-on-and-go variety – so we went ahead and rounded up some easy pieces. Though I’ll always be a loungewear girl at heart, I switched things up this week and wore as many dresses as I could. It’s been easier than ever to get dressed in the morning and completely changing my mood! I caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror the other day and ended up putting on lipstick just for the heck of it. If you’re shopping for a few new pieces, I’ve highlighted my favorites. Bella Hadid Shot a Whole Campaign Via FaceTime, While My Arm Gets Tired From One Selfie
April 24, 2020 at 06:11PM Sheltering in place hasn’t stopped Bella Hadid and Jacquemus from creating an entire campaign. While many brands have had to hit pause on new collections because of the coronavirus crisis, Simon Porte Jacquemus found a creative way to create his Spring 2020 campaign. The French designer, known for starting the tiny bag trend, teamed up with Bella Hadid to shoot an entire collection of dreamy photos from home. The series features Bella posing in various pieces that was shot entirely through FaceTime. Yep, you read that right! While the designer acted as creative director of the shoot, photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti took images of Bella while they were FaceTiming. I have to say, even without the full production of a regular campaign, I was pretty impressed by how cool it came out. In fact, I felt like I related even more to the campaign because it took me back to the early 2000s when Apple’s PhotoBooth reigned supreme. In the pictures, Bella posed in everything from a cheery yellow crop top with green trousers to a stark white suit paired with a green bra. She even posed nude with a Jacquemus bag acting as a strategic cover-up. Keep reading to see all of the gorgeous imagery. Continue Reading… Author Nikita Ramsinghani | Popsugar Selected by CWC
The Final 3 Design Epic Pop-Up Shops in This Week’s Making the Cut Episode
April 24, 2020 at 04:45PM We are down to the final three in Prime Video’s Making the Cut. Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn tell the designers to pack their bags, because they’re heading back to their homes. Each contestant must put together a final collection (with 12-14 looks) and conceptualize a pop-up shop that will be shown in New York City. They have one month to complete these tasks. First we head to Los Angeles to see what Jonny Cota is up to. We get to meet his husband, Frank, back at his home. But Cota wastes no time and books a flight to Bali, where he can productively create a collection. He works with craftsmen and tailor shops there that allow him to experiment with his designs. Next, we get a look at Sander Bos’s home in Hasselt, Belgium. His mother, Ingrid, is incredibly supportive of his career as he works on his final challenge. The designer is confident his vision can be the future of fashion. Lastly, the show checks in with Esther Perbandt at her apartment in Berlin, Germany. She previews her main idea for the pop-up shop, which is an art installation with black rope. After a month, the final three head to NYC, where they each have their own studio that matches their personal aesthetic. Gunn tells the designers the public will be able to order from their pop-up shops, and there will be a tally on the ordering. Afterward, there will be an elimination,
Why Christian Siriano Is Making Medical Masks in Color: “It Helps Us Get Through the Day”
April 24, 2020 at 02:54PM Christian Siriano’s impressive team has now shipped over 10,000 masks to medical workers on the front lines fighting the coronavirus crisis, and his good friend Kelly Clarkson hopped on a video call with him for a candid interview about the process. Siriano was in his New York City office space at the time, and he elaborated on how wildly different the task at hand feels, especially since his sewers are used to creating couture dresses: “It’s wild. After I tweeted at the governor and they responded, they gave us permission to open my office with a small team. My sewers are couture sewers, and now they’re making masks. It’s quite monotonous work, and it’s the same thing over and over again. In the beginning, we were only making white masks, but then I was like, ‘We need to have color.’ We’ve done almost 15,000 masks, and your eyes are bulging out from looking at the same thing. It’s hard to make quality control when you don’t have a mask factory.” Christian has been posting nonstop on Instagram about his team’s tireless efforts and also inviting followers to make donations through his website. Siriano, whose Instagram feed has always been a rainbow’s worth of colors, is now keeping up with his true sense of style in more ways than one. While we’re seeing fewer posts of floor-sweeping gowns exploding in color, it brightens our day just as much to see piles of medical masks in color
The Escapist in Me Can’t Stop Thinking About Villanelle’s Puffy Pink Dress in Killing Eve
April 24, 2020 at 12:10AM Ever since Killing Eve returned for a third season, my fashion daydreams have been more vivid than ever. Jodie Comer’s Villanelle has been my style icon from the start, and I deeply relate to her shopping addiction – don’t worry, that’s strictly the only aspect of her character I identify with. I have loved all of her head-to-toe looks throughout the past few years, but it’s a season one outfit that I can’t get out of my mind: that pink Molly Goddard dress and Balenciaga boot combination that cemented her as an icon. Maybe it’s the fact that we’re staying inside all day, or that I have a closet of Spring dresses collecting dust, but I’ve had this ensemble in my thoughts constantly as I peruse retailers. There’s something about the absurdity of it; Villanelle, a hired assassin, prancing around in a glorified tutu. Or perhaps it’s the combination of a sweet dress with edgy boots that makes it stand out. If she was wearing strappy heels, I might not have thought twice about it. Whatever the reason, this outfit is more special to me now than ever before. I just might attempt to match her level of frivolity by wearing a puffy bubblegum dress in my living room. What can I say, my escapist tendencies are more prevalent than ever these days. Read on to get a full view of Villanelle’s look, then shop some similar styles I have my eye on. Related: Current
11 Outfits From Friends That Prove Ross Is the Fashion Guy You Didn’t See Coming
April 23, 2020 at 10:15PM I’m just going to come out and say it: Ross Geller is a total fashion guy. Like many, I can’t stop, won’t stop rewatching Friends, and Ross, played by David Schwimmer, has emerged as an unlikely style standout. While Chandler’s affinity for sweater vests and backward baseball hats screams quintessential dad style, Ross is a lot more adventurous with his wardrobe choices. Ross’s fashion blunders only make me love him more. Think about it: he not only wears a pair of leather pants on a first date – and makes us subsequently laugh hysterically while trying to get them back on in the bathroom – but he also unknowingly wears a trend-forward printed women’s sweater with confidence and conviction. While looking back at pictures from the show, I’ve also noticed Ross doesn’t shy away from bold colors and trends. When he’s not showing off a piece from his vast sweater collection, he’s oftentimes seen in sleek fashion-y pieces like turtlenecks, leather jackets, and suede outerwear. Keep reading to see some of my favorite style moments Ross has to offer throughout the seasons. Related: Are You a Ross or a Rachel?
