Today in Very Important Fashion Discoveries: The Perfect $8 Tie-Dye Tank
July 01, 2020 at 11:33PM Wide-ribbed tank tops have been everywhere this year and remain at the top of my shopping list for various reasons. They looks somewhat like loungewear (and I’m all for being casual!), and the inherently thin fabric makes them perfect for tucking into high-waisted pants. Plus, ribbed texture always exudes a little ’90s nostalgia. Once I spotted this Fitted Rib-Knit Henley Tank ($8) in tie-dye print, I knew I’d be adding another top to my wardrobe. When it arrived I immediately tried it on with my favorite mom jeans and the fit was perfect. The tank is soft and flattering without being too tight – some ribbed tanks can feel too restricting, as though I’m wearing a sports bra. It comes in two other tie-dye shades, so can you blame me for stocking up? Outfit Obsession: J Lo’s Throwback ’90s Outfit Is My Weekend Look of 2020
July 01, 2020 at 08:26PM Truth be told, I have been modeling all my lockdown outfits after this Jennifer Lopez throwback look, perhaps without knowing it. She wore this longline cardigan, buttoned only at the top, over a pair of silk lounge pants at ShoWest ’96 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Either the image has been subconsciously planted in my head in a dream or this minimalist, monochrome loungewear style is just back again, plain and simple. While Jennifer opted for a soft lilac set, I’m now determined to find matching cardis for all my satin trousers in every color of the rainbow. “This effortless mood is so my move.” J Lo’s loose pants skimmed the floor, but still allowed us a peek at her heeled sandals and lavender metallic toe polish – this being a beauty move we’d see carried right into the early aughts. There’s no denying that the silhouette of a cardigan that’s extended a few inches, flowing right over the hips, elongates the frame – especially when part of a monochrome ensemble. While I might be wearing my makeshift coordinates with slippers and a lacy bralette that peeks out ever-so-slightly from my neckline, this effortless mood is so my move. How about a round of applause for some A+ J Lo fashion nostalgia? Related: And ARod's Makes 5! Burberry Is 1 Brand That Will Have a Physical Runway Show During September’s Fashion Week
July 01, 2020 at 08:02PM Update: It looks like Fashion Month in Europe this September will include live shows. While the men’s shows will be digital this month, The Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, which is in charge of Milan Fashion Week, announced that there will be physical shows taking place from September 22 – 28. “[Digital fashion week] is designed to support, rather than replace, the physical fashion calendar, which will resume in September and will remain vital in promoting Made in Italy and the value of its manufacturing prowess,” CNMI president Carolo Capasa said in a statement. For Paris, the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode released a statement saying that physical rnuway shows will be taking place for the Spring 2021 collections. In London, Burberry stated that they will be holding a live outdoor show with no audience this September as well. Original Post:It looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more digital fashion shows this summer. The coronavirus pandemic has caused the fashion industry to change its regular Fashion Week format for the next few seasons, and many major events like the Met Gala, the CFDA Awards, and the Cannes Film Festival have all been postponed indefinitely. We’ve already seen designers like Jacquemus adapt to the new normal by creating fashion campaigns shot via FaceTime starring celebrities like Bella Hadid. Carine Roitfeld even turned her CR Runway show into an online event that premiered live on YouTube, as did Vogue with its virtual
These Ever-Sold-Out Track Pants Are Back in Stock, and You’re Gonna Have to Pry Me Out of Them
July 01, 2020 at 06:11PM I had the honor of doing grad school in London. Although it was the time of my life, my daily pints, pastries, foam coffees, and happy hours added 30 pounds to my tiny frame. After graduating, I moved to New York City and recommitted my life to fitness. Since then, I’ve been introduced to reformer Pilates and hot yoga. I’ve found a new passion for hiking and hour-long HIIT classes. But probably my favorite part of this journey is how styled I look while getting healthy. The amount of sports bras, yoga pants, and accessories I’ve acquired in three short years is actually shocking. I wouldn’t be surprised if I was Lululemon’s, Girlfriend Collective‘s, and Outdoor Voices’ number one customer. Something about that old adage “when you look good, you feel good.” My most recent discovery of New Balance’s collaboration with LA-based cult brand Staud has been my latest obsession. I love the entire vibrant collection, but there’s one item that steals the show for me. I was casually flipping through sale emails on my break from work a few weeks ago and was about to delete Staud’s email – and then I saw them. There, on my tiny six-inch iPhone, were the most amazing track pants I’d ever seen – emerald green with a bright blue accent. I actually gasped. The model exuded confidence in them. They sat so perfectly on her hips, and the bagginess of the pants was bound to hide any
