5 Ways to Style Swimwear When You’re Not on Holiday

June 19, 2020 at 06:00AM Shopping for swimwear in 2020 might not have quite the same wanderlust appeal as it would on a normal year of jet-setting, however, after talking to various friends and colleagues it seems as though our appetite for spending on winning swimmers hasn’t totally disappeared during the lockdown. So, whether you’re lucky enough to have your own garden at home or just happy to head to a nearby park, we can all get in the holiday spirit this summer by donning our favourite swimsuit and soaking up some rays staycation-style (with plenty of SPF, obvs).  But alas, this isn’t quite the French Riviera, so we can’t just pad around in our bikinis all day, however, over the last few weeks, I’ve seen so many stylish individuals on Instagram repping enviable outfits that perfectly incorporate their swimwear with this year’s key summer buys. We’re talking short-sleeve shirts, straight-leg jeans, retro prints and linen blouses. Oh, and a good dose of delicate gold jewellery.  So if you’re in the mood to channel some escapist spirit, make like Charlotte Khurt, Lucy Williams and Chrissy Ford et al and get ready to style-up your swimwear with plenty of personalty this June. I’m Suddenly Obsessed With Summer Hats and Love These 15

June 19, 2020 at 06:00AM I always love the idea of a flamboyant sun hat for a holiday, except, in reality, it involves either having to pack it into a suitcase and ruin its shape forever or keep it in pristine condition by wearing it to Gatwick airport at 4 a.m. Neither is ideal. This year, we’re all dressing like we’re going on holiday in the park, so wearing an OTT sun hat is much more appealing when you don’t have the packing problem to contend with.  Thanks to Jacquemus, over the past few years there has been a trend for XL straw boaters, and you’ll find plenty of dramatic sun hats that are so large they double as an umbrella. Ribbons are an added detail that gives a Riviera feel to any straw hat. This summer we’re also seeing the revival of bucket hats you would have worn when you were 5-years-old—think tie-dye, retro floral prints and rainbow stripes. I’ve Officially Found My Dream Summer Jacket and It’s From John Lewis

June 19, 2020 at 06:00AM As Who What Wear’s shopping editor, it’s fair to say I have an embarrassingly in-depth knowledge of the current collections of both high street and designer brands—yup, I can’t remember anything from my degree, but I can tell you where to find the perfect white tee (it’s Arket, if you’re wondering). Useful for a pub quiz? Not so much. Helpful for my job? Absolutely! With this in mind, it’s not often that I see something that genuinely stops me in my tracks, and even more unusual for it to be an item from the high street. But this season something came along that blew everything else out the water. The piece in question? A jacket from John Lewis & Partners.  For summer 2020 this Great British high street institution harnessed its minimalist-cool in-house brand Kin to join forces with Japanese artist Rie Takeda. Using the term ‘Neo-Japonism’ to describe her art, Takeda’s work combines traditional Japanese artisanship with contemporary elements, something that is beautifully displayed in her fashion designs.  ‘In Neo-Japonism, rich layers of technical and aesthetic understanding are interlaced,’ explains Rie of the DNA that runs through her art and subsequently, the designs in this collection. ‘It’s a way of achieving a fresh unity of traditional and contemporary art forms. The continuity of time and spiritual existence is always a key inspiration within my work, where I depict and convey a sense of Japanese aesthetics.’ With its clean lines and sculptural silhouette design, the collection’s wrap jacket won me over the moment I spotted it online. The High-Street Cardigans Keeping Me Cosy at Home

June 19, 2020 at 06:00AM According to global fashion search platform Lyst, there has been a 6% increase in searches for cardigans in London week on week, which is no surprise considering many of us are spending a lot more time in our homes and in need of a fashion-based comfort blanket. Out of all our knitwear options, cardigans arguably have the greatest nostalgic associations, and while they might remind us of our school days, 2020’s high-street iterations are anything but childish. The ideal throw-on layer for the changeable British summer, I’ve been wearing mine when sat at my desk and in need of warming or an extra layer, or when the temperature drops in the evening. Two of the most viewed brands that topped the list were not designer offerings, but Arket and & Other Stories. Clearly, the high street is the place to be right now when it comes to cardigans. A bit of research online confirmed this, and let’s just say we now have a few new additions to our new season wishlists. From Arket’s clean-lined styles and H&M’s simple knits to Stories’s soft pastels and ASOS’s cute cropped iterations, scroll down to shop our favourite cardigans on the high street now. Style Notes: If you’re in need of a polished pick-me-up, make like Grece and throw an animal-print style with a pair of tailored trousers.  Next: I Live in Paris and This Is My Capsule for Summer 2020 Author Joy Montgomery | Whowhatwear Selected by CWC

These Are the 25 Prettiest Beauty Products for a Seriously Chic Dressing Table

June 18, 2020 at 06:35PM I’m not sure about you, but I get a huge amount of joy from using certain beauty products. Whether it be a super nourishing, luxurious body cream or a red lipstick that perfectly cushions the lips, some products just have that special touch. It makes sense, therefore, that in times like these, I’m turning to such products more so than ever in a bid to lift my spirits. Similarly, with spending more time at home than I’m used to, I have also been finding ways to inject some joy into my surroundings. After several homeware orders, I’m actually starting to run out of space. So last week, as I perused my beauty shelves, I had a eureka moment. Instead of keeping all of my most beautiful, mood-lifting beauty products behind closed doors to experience one once or twice a week, why not keep them out on display for all of the world to see (well, just me for now)? With the rise of social media platforms like Instagram, aesthetics and packaging have a bigger role to play than ever when it comes to the success of a beauty product, and I’m not complaining. As every new launch gets prettier and prettier, it seems such a waste to hide them, no? So if you like the idea of your beauty products doubling up as chic ornaments for your dressing table, keep scrolling. Sorry Beige, This Summer’s Most In-Demand Blazers Are All In This One Colour

June 18, 2020 at 01:53PM From extremely tiny handbags to architectural heels and oversized straw hats, over the years, there have been many trends that could be traced back to Simon Porte Jacquemus. The buzzy designer is a favourite amongst celebrities and influencers alike, having managed to start trends which capture the attention of the fashion crowd globally.  And this summer is no different, as the designer can likely be credited for the style set’s current obsession with bright pink blazers and suits. Jacquemus debuted its Spring/Summer 2020 collection last year amongst the idyllic backdrop of a lavender field the south of France. During the show, models walked down a vibrant pink runway that stretched over the horizon and while there were, of course, many noteworthy looks debuted that day, one of the most-talked-about items was undoubtedly the designer’s boxy pink blazer.  Having solidified the bold colour as one of the shades of the season, it comes as no surprise then that other brands followed suit and began creating pink blazers of their own. From Arket to H&M, the style has been seen all over the high-street garnering the attention of industry insiders. With Emili Sindlev in Arket’s version, and sister influencers Olivia and Alice sporting H&M’s style, pink blazers seem to be the ultimate summer outerwear item this season.  Keep scrolling to see how influencers are wearing the trend and then shop pink blazers below.  Next up, the biggest S/S 20 fashion trends you need to know.  Author Zoe Anastasiou |

25 Oh-So-Comfy Buys You Will Not Regret Investing In

June 18, 2020 at 11:00AM There is something somewhat ironic about the fact that I’m writing this article, as historically, I’ve been one of those people who say they “don’t do trainers” and prefer to “err on the side of smart style.” However, after being confronted with a new WFH situation, this has all had to change. I am now well-acquainted with the world of loungewear and have—believe it or not—managed to come round to the idea of tracksuit bottoms (just make them knitted) and leggings (just add a fancy cardi). Yes, miracles can happen. It is also clear that many of us, especially now since we’re spending a lot of time at home,  need a little more comfort in our lives. Luckily for us fashion lovers, there are plenty of brands that are expertly combining stylish design with oh-so cosy fabrics and fits. The result? Pieces that we would happily wear both on the sofa and on our daily walk in the park. Let’s call it the fashion equivalent to the Great British Bake Off: It has universal appeal, it’s low-effort, it’s feel-good, and it puts a smile on your face. So if you need a little sartorial comfort in your life, scroll down to shop the pieces that are guaranteed to give you that warm fuzzy feeling. Summer Is (Nearly) Here—These Are the Best Sun Creams for Every Occasion

June 18, 2020 at 06:30AM You want healthy-looking skin. It’s cool. I get it. Trust me—I really do understand where you’re coming from. I also know that once the warm weather hits, it’s tempting to want to spend more time outdoors (safely, of course) but that without the proper protection, the sun can work against your healthy-skin goals. Beauty editors and skin experts far and wide promote the message that staying out of the sun at all costs is the best way to protect your skin from premature ageing and potentially dangerous skin conditions. However, providing you’re taking the necessary measures by applying a high-factor sun cream and not spending prolonged periods of time in direct sunlight, is wanting to spend some time in the heat of the sun something to be ashamed of? The truth is making sure that you are applying the correct sun cream in the correct way is absolutely crucial in ensuring sun safety. “From March to October, UV levels are at their highest. I would recommend applying sunscreen to any exposed skin 15 minutes before you head outdoors,” advises consultant dermatologist Justine Kluk. “It is possible to burn, tan and sustain sun damage that increases your risks of skin cancer and premature ageing from just 15 minutes of casual sun exposure without the right protection.” And this is where the issue lies. In reality, very few people do apply sun cream correctly, and thus expose themselves to damage. “Many people make the mistake of thinking that their makeup contains SPF, so they don’t need

These Coloured Shampoos Are the Perfect Way to Freshen Up Your Hair Colour

June 18, 2020 at 06:30AM If you’re anything at all like me, you’ll be rather impatiently waiting for the salons to reopen so that you can book yourself in for a well overdue cut and colour. I’m currently entering into my sixth haircut-free month, and things aren’t looking great. The simple act of brushing my hair causes severe snapping, and my split ends are basically beyond help at this point. Plus, on a purely practical note, it’s super long and seriously in my way.  But besides the fact it’s not in great health, the thing that is causing me the most anguish when it comes to my hair is without a doubt the state of the colour. Luckily for me, my go-to is a sort of out-grown balayage style, so I’m not left with banded, striped roots. However, the blonde that previously made up around 70% of my hair now barely just tips the ends due to breakage. What’s worse is that my previously cool, icy tones have since turned brassy and yellow. Last week, as I prepared to step outside into the world and meet a friend for the first time in months, I finally decided that enough was enough and dusted off a bottle of coloured, toning shampoo to freshen up my bleached ends. I simply swapped out my usual shampoo for my go-to purple-toned formula, and believe me when I say the results were extraordinary. After just one wash, I looked like I had just stepped out of the salon. Even

I Try Hundreds of Products a Year, But I Can’t Be Without This £9 Cleanser

June 18, 2020 at 06:30AM One of the most amazing things about being a beauty editor is getting to try all of the amazing new products the industry has to offer. From foundations to face masks, come the end of the year, there’s rarely a new launch untouched. The downside to this, however, is that constantly chopping and changing your skincare routine isn’t particularly great for your complexion. In fact, my skin hates it. The minute I try to phase in a product that my skin doesn’t like, all hell breaks loose and I get seriously angry breakouts. And the sad part is, I experience this with products I really think I’m going to love. All too often the perpetrators of such a situation are super expensive new launches that should be destined for greatness. However, with all of this being said, there is one product (of which I am always fully stocked) that I reach for whenever my breakouts get out of control. The minute I spot my pores are getting congested and sense that a breakout is on the horizon, I drop absolutely everything and reach for my trusty old friend: Super Facialist Salicylic Acid Purifying Cleansing Wash (£9). Almost like magic, after just a couple of days, my skin will already be showing signs of clearing up. And after a couple of weeks of using the blemish-fighting cleanser every day, I can usually expect my skin to be more or less blemish-free. Put it this way: If
