This Is My Favourite It Dress of 2020—and It’s High-Street

June 17, 2020 at 07:00AM You know what we like a lot at Who What Wear? Dresses, that’s what. For regular readers, this will come as absolutely no surprise. Nothing, and especially right now when we all need a bit of escapism, brings us more joy than discovering gorgeous pieces to lift our spirits. While we’re being mindful of budgets, there are a few hero items we’ve spotted on the high street. Case in point: a green dress from COS. Yes, it might sound a little surprising and hardly a classic piece you’d have in your wardrobe, but honestly, it is. The frock in question is made of seersucker material, long with thick straps in a perfect pastel and fluoro green. It looks great by itself and over white tees. While it was sold out for a bit, it’s now back in stock, and we couldn’t be happier. Trust Monikh: The 3 Items Our Girl Is Loving This Week

June 17, 2020 at 06:18AM There are hundreds of thousands of influencers in the social ether, but only a handful who we religiously stalk in order to virtually steal the clothes off their backs. Our primary target is Monikh—the London-based styling and shopping guru who seeks out the very coolest buys from every corner of the retail world. From her inspiring tips on re-wearing her well-chosen investment items to hunting down the coolest high-street pieces, her Instagram feed @monikh and website are a veritable hotbed of things you’re going to want to purchase immediately (and will never regret). Each week, Monikh will share her new picks exclusively for you… In summer, I love wearing earthy tones, linens, white lightweight dresses and tangerine shades—pieces that are classic but not boring. This week, my summer shopping picks include the perfect white dress that has XL puff sleeves. After months of being barefoot or in flats, I’m also eyeing up some espadrille wedges. Keep scrolling for my three buys this week. I found this brand on Instagram a few years ago, and I have been hooked on its incredibly simple yet exaggerated designs ever since. It keeps the colours very muted and uses über-dreamy materials. But the thing that sets its pieces apart is the volume of the shapes. Very clever, very beautiful. Note they also sell out and rarely get restocked—still kicking myself over a dress I missed from over three years ago. For anyone like me living in a flat and always in need of more space, you’ll be happy

All the Trends I Wore as a Kid Are Back for Summer 2020

June 17, 2020 at 06:03AM When many of us reflect on the outfits we wore as kids, the term fashionable is hardly the first thing that springs to mind. After all, despite the fact that I was a fashion-obsessed child (who would regularly change my outfit multiple times a day, much to my mother’s dismay), I’d hardly presume any of those outfits would actually hold up over 20 years down the track. Though, recently, upon looking back on a few old photos, I realised that several of the trends I wore as a child in the ’90s have resurfaced as It items today. From bike shorts to exaggerated sleeves, daisy prints to statement collars, the trending styles of 2020 are not too dissimilar to those that were in several decades ago. Whether it’s due to fashion’s current obsession with all things nostalgia or simply the fact that trends go in cycles, I’m unsure. But keep scrolling for four trends I wore as a child that are back again for summer 2020.  From Kitri to Marimekko, many brands have reimagined the traditional floral motif this summer, opting to replace them with large-scale daisy and sunflower prints. It’s a trend we’re seeing flood our social media feeds and is not too dissimilar to the fun prints that were also prominent in the ’90s.  This season, bike shorts have become so much more than just an activewear style. Paired alongside blazers and button-down shirts, the item has shed its sporty-related connotations to become a mainstream trend in and of

I’ve Been Running for Over 10 Years—Here Are the Best Trainers

June 17, 2020 at 06:00AM I remember where I was the first time I went for a run. I was on my Erasmus year 15 years ago in Toulouse, stuck in my halls of residence and desperate to get out and move my legs. I was slow, stopped regularly and didn’t go very far. I continued running regularly, even though I wasn’t very good, but gave up once I was back home from university. Then, 10 years ago, I moved to London and was in need of some form of exercise that was A) free and B) easy (ish) to do, so I decided to pick it up again. This time, thanks to advances in technology, I had apps and an iPhone with my playlists on to get me through. However, I still found I wasn’t quite getting my distance up, so I turned to the Couch to 10K app, which I completed. I then managed to knock out a 10K during the weekends and even trained for a half-marathon. Throughout all that time, there’s one thing I’ve never compromised on: decent trainers.  The thing is, running is high-impact, and if you run outside, you need a pair of trainers to cushion your weight as you slam your feet down on the pavement. Thanks to my time running, I’ve had the chance to try out a few sneakers. But why exactly am I talking about this now? Since March, the searches for running shoes has grown dramatically. (Thanks, Google Trends.) And it makes sense—with gyms

This Chic New High-Street Beauty Collection Is Set to Be a French-Girl Fave

June 16, 2020 at 06:30AM There are very few high-street shops that manage to embody French-girl style as perfectly and effortlessly as Sézane. Over the years, the brand’s pretty pastel knits, laid-back crochet and iconic boxy shirts have come to epitomise French-girl style, and frankly, I couldn’t be more on-board with the whole aesthetic. It’s laid-back, easy and takes chic to a whole new level. However, with that being said, I was always aware that the brand was missing a pretty major trick.  While I admit that French-girl style really is an art form, if you ask me, it’s the French girl’s approach to beauty that inspires me the most every day. For a brand like Sézane, which embodies all of the chicest, most stylish things about the French way of life, to not have a beauty offering always upset me a little. For too long I have been itching to discover the secret behind the effortless French-girl glow, and I have always had an inkling that Sézane could be the brand to hold the answers. And now, finally, my wish has been granted. As pared-back and simple as one might expect, Sézane’s new beauty offering consists of bath, body and fragrance treats that look just as chic as they smell and feel. From an oily lip balm that keeps lips soft and supple all day long to a fresh, floral perfume that would impress even the hardest-to-please of noses, I’ve snapped up just about every beauty product Sézane has to offer. And

5 Anti-Ageing Facial Massage Techniques You Can Do at Home

June 16, 2020 at 06:30AM Chances are, at some point over the past few months, you’ve looked into giving yourself a spa-level facial at home. And while nothing beats the feeling of a good, deep cleanse with a luxe, dreamy-smelling cleansing balm, if you really want to reap the benefits of a great at-home facial, you need to know the moves. That’s right, you know those crazy hand movements and massage techniques that facialists carry out while you’re either fighting off sleep or flitting in and out of states of relaxed consciousness? Yep, they’re super important if you want to see drastic anti-ageing results over time. “It’s often news to people that over 40 muscles make up the scaffolding of our face,” says Inge Theron, Founder of FaceGym. “Just like the muscles in the body, the more you move them, the more lifted, tightened and toned they become. Facial muscle stimulation keeps muscles firm, skin tint and stimulates the most important protein for keeping the face looking young, collagen,” she adds. In practical terms, using specific facial massage techniques is thought to help sculpt and lift certain areas of the face for a more youthful complexion. And the good news is that you can carry out the techniques at home on yourself. In fact, the more often you do it, the more impressive the results will be. Keep scrolling for best facial massage techniques for every problem area, according to the experts. As we get older, the skin on our necks can drastically change in appearance. In

The Best Ways to Disguise Roots Until You Can Get to a Salon

June 16, 2020 at 06:30AM The last time I had my hair coloured was mid-December, and I was due a trip to the salon in the coming few weeks for a top-up. We’re now in mid-June, and while some hairdressing salons could be looking to open within the coming few weeks, I’m also aware that, judging by the number of waiting list alerts flying into my inbox, getting an actual appointment is going to be similar to trying to get hold of Glasto tickets. So with the fact that, realistically, I’m not going to be back in a salon chair for at least another month or two, I’ve been looking into different ways I can make my current colour situation work for me. I’ve been inundated by messages from friends and family begging me for any tips on what to do about their own roots too. And the truth is unless you’re brave enough to try a box dye (proceed with caution), there’s really very little you can do other than style the regrowth out as best you can. From plaits to buns and ponytails to flowing waves, keep scrolling for the very best ways to style hair in order to help disguise your roots. Especially when working from home, there really is no better get-stuff-done hairstyle. The topknot is the chic yet easy style that most of us will turn to in times of need. But it turns out a topknot doesn’t just have to be the thrown-up, scruffy style we know it to

5 Skirt Trends You’re Going to See Everywhere This Summer

June 16, 2020 at 06:04AM When it comes to our wardrobes, there are a few key items that tend to get all the limelight. Dresses, for example, are earmarked for life’s most special occasions, and each season, their trends are dissected, analysed and beloved by the masses. Sarah Jessica Parker built an entire career out of an affinity for shoes, not only playing a character who was obsessed with the item but also subsequently parlaying that into a footwear brand of her own. Handbags arguably garner the most hype. After all, who remembers the countless articles that arose after Kylie Jenner gave the world a glimpse into her bag closet?  Though today, we’re here to talk about one of the more underrated wardrobe staples: skirts. Personally, I think the item doesn’t get nearly enough credit, being one of the most versatile and trans-seasonal items around. In terms of skirt trends, this summer we’re seeing several styles emerge as It brands like Sir, Ganni, Faithfull and Rixo lead the way in distinctive design. Shirred skirts featuring ruched detailing around the waist and hips have been prominent across both designer and high-street labels, as have printed tie-front skirts thanks to Ganni’s popular design. Pleated skirts are back again, though this year’s iterations feature wide box pleats paired against contemporary prints. Logo skirts are also having a moment across both designer brands and contemporary labels, with typography being used in imaginative ways to create innovative printed pieces. Sure, skirts might not capture the zeitgeist quite like a pair of

The 7 Outfits I’ve Loved Wearing This Summer

June 16, 2020 at 06:00AM Over the last few months, everyone has developed different attitudes to social-distancing dressing. Whether you’ve become a comfy co-ord convert, a legging devotee or someone who is militant about staying smart to keep a routine in place, clothing has played an unexpectedly important role in the way we approach our working weeks.  As someone who loves to dress up for work, my approach has been to try and put on something that I feel good in every day, even if it’s just a super-simple ensemble. My general approach has been comfy minimalism with the odd splash of colour or playful detailing. This has meant I have rarely worn jeans (too constricting) and have enjoyed digging out some previously neglected dresses, alongside embracing neutral separates and championing the throw-on appeal of the jumpsuit.  Of course, the only person seeing these outfits is my husband—well, and now you—but I have found that fashion is a small yet significant way to be creative and lift my mood each morning. For you, that might be cooking or exercise, crafts or puzzles—you just gotta find what keeps you going. So if you’re interested, I’ve detailed the seven outfits that have brought a bit of fun to my working week. Scroll down to see what I chose. Style Notes: I nabbed this Avavav mini in its online sample sale (it’s so good—check it out here), and thanks to its light fabric, it’s such a good option for a warm day. I just add my Topshop sandals for a pop of colour. Style Notes: This has got to be one of my favourite jumpsuits.

I Live In Paris—and This is My Capsule for Summer 2020

June 16, 2020 at 06:00AM Every month, Londoner turned Parisienne Marissa Cox of Rue Rodier will bring you her pearls of Parisian fashion wisdom and beauty tips straight from the French capital. A writer, photographer and influencer, we turn to the oh-so-chic Marissa on a regular basis for a truly unique take on her adopted country’s signature style. Whether we’re looking to her décor decisions, handbag purchases or chic hotel choices, we can all agree that looking un petit peu plus Français could never be a bad thing… I’m finally back home in Paris, after spending two and a half months at my mum’s in the UK for lockdown. Following a week of settling into my new apartment – I moved six days before we went into quarantine – and being reunited with my wardrobe (a cause for celebration in itself), I’m becoming accustomed to my new ‘normal’, which means wearing a mask (obligatory when going into a supermarket, shop or any place of business here). It’s a minimalistic black one in case you’re wondering. I have (of course) been trying to colour coordinate my new face fixture by wearing something black every day, although admittedly it’s strange leaving the house with an added (essential) accessory, but health is wealth. I was equal parts excited and apprehensive about returning home to Paris, but France is easing, things are beginning to open up a little more this week and the parks re-opened over the weekend! Meaning that after wearing almost the
