The High-Street Buys the Fashion Crowd Is Loving Right Now

June 07, 2020 at 05:54AM The team at Who What Wear UK prides itself on uncovering cult items before they’ve even made it off the production line. We’re keen, to say the least, and a great portion of our time is spent documenting and analysing the Instagram posts of the thousands of cool women we follow on Instagram for high-street sightings. In fact, we have WhatsApp groups and Slack channels dedicated to these affordably priced power pieces, and we want to update you on them as soon as possible (aka after we’ve bought our faves). Our skills are so attuned that more often than not, we’ll have an inkling about a certain piece before it has hit the big time. Sometimes, you’ll find a flurry of brand-specific action due to a paid activation or natural desire to wear a particular thing or label. But other times, it’ll be a slow and steady accumulation of saved posts that start to make a trend clear to me—especially when a vast array of influencers start favouring the very same items over a longer period of time. Either way, please trust that we’re on it. Right now, there are some beautiful items making a strong bid for inclusion in this gallery. From a timeless Arket shirt to an H&M dress that looks way beyond its high-street price tag, keep reading to see my picks of influencers wearing the latest high-street items. H&M Calls This the Most Flattering and Comfortable Swimsuit Ever

June 07, 2020 at 05:31AM For someone like me who’d rather spend money on jeans and shoes than swimsuits, affordable brands like H&M are high on my swimwear list. Just like the rest of its offerings, the store is regularly adding new swimsuits to its inventory, but it can be tricky to choose the right swimsuit sight unseen. H&M is helping out with that. Recently, the brand sent out an email entirely dedicated to one particular swimsuit. The subject line of the email was “The most flattering swimsuit—ever.” Obviously a bold statement, but of course I was convinced to open the email. The swimsuit in question is a new collection of pastel-coloured crinkled-fabric swimsuits, which H&M also called out as being comfortable, and it looks it. The crinkled-fabric swimsuits start at just £10 for the one-piece and top out at £25 for the high-leg bikini. Shop the various options below as well as a few other swimsuits I couldn’t resist including. Shop the matching Brazilian Bikini Bottoms (£13). Shop the matching Brazilian Bikini Bottoms (£10). This Is How My Favourite Fashion People Make Their Houses Look So Chic

June 07, 2020 at 05:00AM When you decide to redecorate, whether you’re in a rented place or one you own, it can feel overwhelming. For months, I have been saving random images, screenshots and torn out pictures from home design magazines to get a good idea of what I want my house to look like. It’s fun, of course, but it’s also starting to get a bit confusing about what I really want. Happily, it turns out there are plenty of fashion influencers who have recently redecorated or just have impeccable taste when it comes to interiors and who I’m stealing ideas from. There’s Laura Jackson, who has the most exceptional eye for detail when it comes to finding just the right vintage piece—she has a more maximalist style but it feels super homey. Then there’s the opposite in the form of a more minimalist approach championed by Monikh Dale and Brittany Bathgate. Here, you’ll find every home-design rule I’ve learnt from following these influencers (as well as a few others), and which pieces are guaranteed to add a bit of extra oomph to your home… I’m starting with the hardest first, because bathrooms can be so difficult to decorate. You want it to be a place of serenity, but that doesn’t mean you have to stick to the classic white. Take a tip from Laura Jackson and add in plants, candles and prints to give it more life. I Just Styled Gucci’s Best-Selling Cult Belt 3 Ways

June 06, 2020 at 08:00AM If there’s one brand that has been inescapable over the past few years it’s been Gucci. Since 2015, under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele, the brand has become one of the hottest fashion houses around. Thanks to Alessandro’s exciting and fresh vision countless other designers and high street brands have followed the edgy-grandma-meets-the-seventies trend. But the real crux of the fashion house’s success lies in its accessibility. While some opt to wear the brand sunglasses-to-platforms, others can easily dip their toe in with a bag or a pair of shoes. But one of the easiest ways to get the Gucci look? Wear one of the now-iconic double G belts. It has a cool but goes-with-everything-in-your-wardrobe appeal that makes it a must for both die-hard fashion lovers and your mum. To keep it interesting, the brand has re-imagined the GG belts in different ways—from the classic black, brown and white offerings to more embellished styles that will sate the more flamboyant dressers’ fashion appetites. To prove just how easy they are to wear, I’ve styled the belts—one thin, medium, and thick in different ways to prove just how versatile these belts are. Keep scrolling for how to wear this cult item and then shop my edit of the best Gucci GG belts below.  Style Notes: My personal preference for styling a thin belt is to wrap it over a chunky knit. I love the contrast between something heavy and something lighter.  Style Notes: The medium-sized belts from Gucci are often seen worn with

Everything You Should Know About Laser Hair Removal, IPL and Electrolysis

June 06, 2020 at 06:30AM I must admit, hair removal isn’t the most glamorous of beauty topics. The techniques are usually painful, uncomfortable, time-consuming and costly. However, with that being said, I do also believe that it is one of the most important topics to talk about openly. You see, while for me, writing about lipsticks and shampoo might be fun, it’s not necessarily life-changing content. When it comes to hair removal though, the lack of conversation around different options has many of us feeling deflated, self-conscious and feeling as though there are no real solutions. And as a beauty editor, I am by no means exempt from this. As someone that has dark and abundant body and facial hair, I too have often felt at a loss over what to do. My sensitive skin means waxing and shaving processes are usually troublesome and irritating. And actually, with outdoor excursions limited and salons still closed for the time being, I have been taking this time out to really think about how I want to go forward with my hair removal options because, the truth is, after five years in the game, I’m still none the wiser to what is best. One thing that I do know, however, is that I am by no means alone in this struggle. People are regularly asking me about longer-term forms of hair removal. However, despite having had laser treatments before, I am by no means an expert in this field. More permanent forms of hair removal are complex, high-tech

The Trendiest Pieces at H&M Right Now and the Basics to Wear Them With

June 06, 2020 at 06:25AM Pictured above: H&M A-Line Dress ($30) As you know, H&M is a great place to find trends that you don’t want to spend a lot of money on. As you also know, it’s also a great place to shop for basics that look more expensive than they actually are. And while a diverse wardrobe is wonderful, if you want the ease of shopping for an entire outfit (or seasonal wardrobe even) all at one place, you could certainly get away with it at H&M. So where to even start? I find it easiest to build an outfit around a particular trend, adding on whatever basics best complement it. Easy to do at H&M. And currently, it has tons and tons of on-trend pieces for summer, from tiered dresses to sweatshorts to tangerine orange. Keep scrolling to shop the trends and the H&M basics that best suit them. This pretty printed top works so well with high-waisted shorts and flats. A babydoll dress makes a statement on its own, so keep the rest of your look minimal. These bold trousers work well with any neutral colour. Sweatshorts are a basic and a trend. I love dressing them up with an oversize button-down. This unbelievably affordable midi dress is an outfit itself.  This sporty cropped top works beautifully with tailored pieces that dress it up a bit. Fuchsia pleated suit shorts are as trendy as shorts get at the moment. I’d pair mine with a ribbed tank this summer.

I Haven’t Shopped All Year, But H&M’s Summer Collection Just Changed My Mind

June 06, 2020 at 06:00AM Last September, post–fashion week, we knew what we were going to see everywhere come summer 2020. The biggest trends included leather (for summer? Actually groundbreaking), pretty white dresses and Bermuda-style shorts. While these trends and many others were pretty much guaranteed at the beginning of the year, January now feels very much like a lifetime ago. Since then, countries across the world have been locked down with few people spending time outside their homes. This has, undoubtedly, led to a whole host of other trends emerging for summer 2020 that we couldn’t have predicted even six weeks ago. With plenty of people now working from home, basic white vest tops and joggers have shot to the top of our shopping lists. But it’s also the cancelled weddings and holidays that have indicated a change in how we’ve been dressing or planned to dress.  Next up, the biggest spring/summer 2020 fashion trends you need to know.  Author Elinor Block | Whowhatwear Selected by CWC

14 Affordable Items That Will Help Elevate Your Favourite Basics

June 06, 2020 at 06:00AM Here at Who What Wear, we are firm believers that good style shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. If we’re honest, some of the most fashion-savvy people we’ve encountered in our lives have been the most cost-conscious, as having to be more careful with your budget can often result in greater creativity and originality.  Luckily, in the UK, we have a wide range of online high-street offerings available to us, and brands are getting smarter about designing pieces that aren’t going to fall out of favour the following season. The likes of Arket and & Other Stories, in particular, have become known for their quality, expensive-looking designs that are indiscernible from their designer counterparts. Add to this the fact that the minimalist aesthetic has ruled over the past 12 months, meaning it’s even easier to hunt down those affordable yet premium-looking gems. As someone who has spent many years following high-street brands—both in my spare time and as part of my job—I have a good sense of what to look out for when it comes to finding the good stuff for less. To help you on your way, I’ve rounded up 12 chic basics items that no one will ever guess were from the Great British high street. From chunky sandals to tailored shorts, scroll down to shop my edit.  Up Next: Spring/Summer 2020 Fashion: What We’ll Be Wearing in This New Decade Author Joy Montgomery | Whowhatwear Selected by CWC

These Summer-Ready Printed Dresses Are Pure Joy

June 06, 2020 at 06:00AM Despite not being much of a dress person, I find that every time I put on a printed frock, there’s a sort of strange fashion alchemy that occurs. No longer am I just a slipper-clad working-from-homer stuck in a never-ending cycle of moving from desk to fridge to sofa. Rather, I am the lady of the manor, an 18th-century duchess who spends her mornings reading quietly by the window and afternoons swishing ’round the house calling for more Earl Grey tea please, butler (aka husband). Social isolation has done funny things to all of us, okay?  I honestly believe there is something about a dramatic dress that can distract from the day-to-day boredom and, even if it’s just in a small way, help us to feel a little bit special—whether it’s for Skyping family or making a cup of tea. Well, with everything from florals and checks to polka dots and animal print being embraced this season, there are plenty of options available right now, each one with the potential to imbue us with a different mood. Who will you be today? The ‘60s It girl in Rixo’s sunset shades or a Jane Austen heroine clad in puff-sleeve florals? An ’80s matriarch with a penchant for animal print or a beach-dwelling Cali girl in floaty checks? The dress world is your oyster. So really, all I’m trying to say is whether you rediscover a love for those old favourites buried deep in your coset or discover a new style (there are plenty to feast on below), now is the time to

29 Random Archive Shots Inspiring My Wardrobe This Summer

June 06, 2020 at 06:00AM A few weeks back, I wrote an article about the powerful role nostalgia is playing in the fashion industry, both over the course of the last year and up to the present day, as creatives struggle to create new content due to social distancing. I’ve watched as magazines have been forced to delve into the archives yet come out with the most stunning finds, which more than deserves a second outing. Plus, as we seek to make our shopping habits more sustainable, you could argue than the same rule could apply to imagery. Why create so much newness when we have a rich and inspiring back catalogue at our disposal?  Of course, there’ll always be a need for innovation and fresh ideas in fashion, but the irony is that I personally find there to be more examples of original and unique style in the archive than there sometimes is in the world of modern media. Also, if nothing else, there’s something so escapist about plunging into the past and immersing yourself in the trends of decades gone by.  So if you’re tired of scrolling through Instagram, or generally feeling a bit lacklustre in the wardrobe department, I’ve given you a helping hand and found 29 throwback shots that might give you some ideas for your summer capsule. From Bridget Bardot’s Gallic-girl allure and Gwynnie’s languarous ’90s silhouettes to Iman’s ’80s power dressing and Halle Berry’s off-duty appeal, consider this photo archive your go-to. Style Notes: From the high-waisted trousers to the gingham waistcoat, there’s nothing I don’t love about this outfit.  Style Notes: Naomi brought out
